i rlly wish i could see what p3 fans back in the 2000s thought of characters like shuji, strega and ryoji when only the og game was out.

because looking at base game p3... ryoji was kind of just... there.

he transferred to gekkougaun, obviously looking like pharos who left days eariler so no secret there, flirted with everyone, was junpeis bestie and then after a month of just existing we find out hes super important, connected to the protag and aigis and kicks off the finale of the game. og ryoji is kind of just 'the dude nobody invited'.

maybe im missing some things, maybe he didn't necessary need to be more prominent because maybe it was obvious he was going to be important to platers. like i stated above, he and pharos were obviously connected bc of their looks (hair colours, eyes, mole) and him appearing this late in the game can't be a concidence, however considering his very important connection to the mc its baffling how he barely had any one to one scenes with them before december. he's more junpeis friend than yours.

Hello, hi, it is I, the ryomina historian who witnesseed the og 13 nights of the round full moon table from 2008. As you said there was really nothing to work off in canon. All ryomina feelings pre-p3p+ came from loving the core: deathmina. For a long time, i felt super delusional shipping these two because all i had was vague hints and the implication of what they meant to each other through Messiah. Even for the manga back then, it still took awhile to get true content since it took awhile for Ryoji to actually appear since it had started late 2007 iirc (i think it was more around p3p time where he did begin show up), so truly there was no official 'hint' of attraction between these two as Ryoji and Minato like there is in P3P, and especially so to P3R. You really had to pick up on all the details to piece together(fortune teller, messiah, some of the promotional art) and already love Pharos so that it would carry over to Ryoji. Ryomina can't exist without farushu, and i think that's a sad thing with current fans that phase of love is dismissed by most idk why. But i am able to love every version of Death with Minato because that's what i love: Death with Minato. So yes, i was in love with concept that Death was going through all these hoops just to spend time with Minato who he happily was imprisoned to. That P3 was the story of Hades finding his Persephone, and Minato is such a unique and wonderful take and such perfect match for Death.... That falling love in Death allows him to claims all parts of one's life, not just the end. In death they unite, rather than part.... it's such a bittersweet romantic story, and i felt completely delusional seeing that way for the longest time. It wasn't until the movies (3+4) that i finally began to allow myself to believe maybe they were actually canon as it was vaguely implied, since so many other Minato ships felt more real (even bankita was more real than ryomina💀)

My partner played P3 several times in the mid to late 2000s as well as the non-vanilla versions (I think Portable, not FES). We recently just played through Vanilla for the first time for me, so my first P3 experience was the original game.

I agree that he felt like Junpei's friend more than ours, though I didn't make the Pharos connection right away. Because of how P5 was my first Persona game, I thought Ryoji would be like Haru and just join the playable party quite late in the game. Once I figured out who he was, I was still uncertain of how he was going to be relevant until Aigis reminded him of their shared past. I admit I didn't even think of Ryomina as a ship option until I saw the fanart. (I should have known better; all ships are possible in fandom.) Even the anime made Ryoji feel oddly pushy, like he was trying very hard to build a relationship that Makoto wasn't really interested in. The anime did a better job at making Ryoji feel more like Makoto's friend rather than Junpei's friend.

If you're curious for the truly 2006-2010 experience, I can ask my partner for more details. They played the games as they came out and participated in the fandom at the time, so they might have the answer you're looking for.

SO, the new marriage candidates dropped and uh, well...

Sandy was expected, I don't have a strong opinion on her but i am curious to see what CA does. Clint on the other hand... not so much.

I'm geniunely baffled at it, I'm convinced this was done as a troll bc who was srsly gunning to marry CLINT?!?

And no, I don't dislike him bc of his looks, I dislike him becuase the game has portayed him as a werido who stalks Emily, acts strange at her 8 heart event (which doesnt mean ur dating her) saying we 'won'(???), acts very werid at the theater if your farmer is a girl regardless of being single or not and is all around miserable to be around, complaining about everything.

Now I assume Clint will have to go through a major character arc to rectify his quirks or give reason as to why, or they just rewrite the unfavorable scenes but it won't be easy to fully erase what he's been for years and some people won't be willing to put past his behaviour to ge tthat character development like they are with Shane or Haley, whose worse crimes are being mean (+ drinking problem on the formers side). Hiding it under 'he's just socially anxious/depressed' won't fix anything for them.

Outside of that, how would the shop work? Spouses don't do much once you marry them (Harvey, the ONLY DOCTOR IN TOWN, goes to work only 2-3 days a week) and Clint already closes at 4pm everyday (doesnt even work on Fridays with the CC fixed). So would the shop be in his spouse room then or is it like when Gus is on the island? If he does go in, he won't be there all the time presumably so what if you have a tool getting upgraded but the day its ready he's off work, you're just stuck w/o that tool for longer.

Sorry, this is mainly rambling and nitpicky. Maybe once 1.7 comes out and I see the heart events I'll change my mind. I might even start to like him, who knows? But I'm not particularly counting on it.

(P.S: if you like Clint, you do you. This isn't to convince you not to or to slander CA for making him marriageable. I mean no harm.)

The flowers in Makoto's flower crown are phlox flowers ("our souls are united" in hanakotoba), and the flowers on his robes are forget-me-nots ("true love" and "memories" in hanakotoba)!

He's a little embarrassed at first because he wants to try telling SEES some of his facts but is worried about weirding them out cause bullying, isolation, and being real are scary. But Ryoji doesn't mind at all, he remembers every single thing Minato says. Reverse of the blabber x quiet person thing. (Marine biology based off of the numerous descriptions Minato makes during the Yakushima trip and Greek mythology cause it fits. You can choose either one.)
