notes abt the design/this whole thing under read more:
About the design:
- I didnt rlly want him to wear the exact same outfit as he does in canon, I wanted some differences so I took inspiration from minoan fashion for the tunic to make his outfit still fit since he came from crete (and the hourglass thing to show his allegiance)
- I still kept blue as a part of his outfit to retain a bit of his og identity. The red isn't there tho and replaced with more gold (i might add it back tho idk)
- the mask was the only definitive design cue i had when starting to design him. Idk why I just thought it would be cool if he had one. Makes him look a little menacing (also his wings are shaper to add to a more 'dangerous' silhouette.)
- I didnt draw the back view but I do hc he has scars from his death on his back/his arms.
- his hair is longer bc i like men with long hair, thats abt it.

As for why he joined Chronos, the idea I had when coming up with this idea was that here hes more jaded at the gods, playing more into the 'hubris' reading of his myth where he 'thought he was better than the gods' (im not particularly a big fan of that reading as his actions always read more as him getting freedom after being trapped in a tower for presumably years but whatever)
So yeah he's allied with Chronos for the sole reason of wanting the gods to fall, after decades of being powerless and feeling like his death was unjust. He's considered the 'architect of the new golden age' so he mostly sets up traps and oversees stuff outside of Olympus since Prom has got that covered. Chronos appeals to him by saying hes more 'favourable' than his father.
Him and Mel and still childhood friends and Mel still loses her arm trying to make him whole. For these reasons, she's the only god he doesnt hate and he still very much harbours feelings for her. Mel doesnt intitally believe that he joined Chronos on his own, wanting to believe at first that he's being forced by the Titans bc he doesn't act outright antagonistic towards her. Its why she doesn't tell anyone abt him, she herself still struggling to wrap her head around it.
He likewise, thinks the gods are only using her bc she's veen raised to just be a weapon and will throw her out after they got what they want (Typhon and Chronos dead). Its pretty much a back and forth between the two for a while, with them both trying to convince the other to join them.
They both have points while also blinded by their bias. Will they ever see past that and think objectively about the future of this war? What abt their relationship, can they build it back up?
I don't rlly have plans to expand this idea compared to Golden Reign, this is just a fun very self-indulgent waxwitch au i've had in my head.
