Okay so ngl this is a drabble and only 345 words but it was just completely self indulgent and I wrote it based on what I was feeling as an outlet.

You sat on the couch with a show playing in the background, though you weren’t really paying attention to it anymore. Instead, you let your thoughts wander. You and Seungmin had been dating for about 2 months, so the relationship was still fairly new. You knew that idol lie was hard, that wasn't what bothered you. You had known since the beginning that Seungmin wasn’t as big on affection as you were. What you didn’t realize, was that sometimes you just needed affection. You wanted to feel wanted, you wanted the cute aspects along with his usual teasing. But inside, you knew you didn’t want to come across as desperate or too clingy. Maybe he just needed a little while longer to adjust, that’s what you kept telling yourself. 

Just as you were thinking, you suddenly burst into tears. Unlucky for you, Seungmin walked in the door right as you had begun to cry. “Honey? What’s wrong??” He said, running over to you as he dropped his bag on the floor. “I know you’re not as affectionate as me and that you show your love through teasing and sarcasm… but do you still want me?” Seungmin pulled you into a hug, was that how he made you feel? “Of course I still want you, love. I know I’m not the best at this type of thing, but I’ll be better. What do you think would help?” You thought for a moment, in all honesty, you weren’t 100% sure. “I guess a few pet names here and there would be nice. I like when you compliment me, I like to feel appreciated.” Seungmin nodded as he pulled out closer to him and pressed a soft kiss to your temple. “Okay my love, I’ll try to be better, I promise,” he said, wiping your tears with his hand. “Now, what do you want me to order for dinner? I know you haven’t eaten yet.” You weren’t perfect, but you knew that everything would be better. When Seungmin said he would fix something, you knew he meant it.

It was the first official day in the villa, and some couples seemed to be doing better than others. Across the courtyard, Keeho and Lisa could be heard arguing about something stupid. However, other than that, everyone seemed to be getting along. Y/n and Jay had been chatting for around an hour now, and everything was going well between the two. Then, she saw another man approaching. “Sorry, Jay. Can I steal Y/n for a moment?” Y/n looked up, and was kind of shocked to see Seonghwa standing in front of her. “Sure, man. See you later Y/n!” You and Seonghwa were then left alone, and you looked at him, confused. “Sorry, I know you were talking to Jay, but the point of the show is to go after what you want. I think you’re beautiful and I would love to get to know you.” Y/n had to admit, she was flattered. To be honest, she would be lying if she said that Seonghwa hadn’t caught her eye. “I’d like to get to know you too! Tell me more about why you became a doctor!” Seonghwa smiled and began to speak. “Well, I had always known I wanted a career that required helping people. When I was 18, I became an EMT and that’s when I found out that I really enjoyed medical work. I got my degree in pre-med, and obviously went through years of med school and training. But It’s totally worth it! It’s depressing sometimes, when you have a severe case that you know you can’t save. But knowing that I get to at least try my hardest to save someone’s life is rewarding.” He paused for a moment before speaking again. “Tell me more about your career as a dance instructor! I’m curious!” Y/n smiled as she thought about what to say. “Well, dance has been my life since forever, my mother used to own the dance studio that I took over when she retired. I have an assistant who’s watching everything right now, and she’s honestly my best friend. My friends are all back at the studio and I was worried at first, being gone for so long and all. However, they convinced me. “I originally wanted to go into psychology, until my mom made it possible for me to have an actual job related to dancing, that’s when it became not just a hobby. Seonghwa smiled, and he seemed genuinely interested from her point of view. Of course, she was trying to keep an open mind, but so far Seonghwa and Jay had both caught her eye the most. She had engaged in a few smaller conversations with everyone else, but it had all seemed like friendly chatting. With Jay and Seonghwa, Y/n could see an actual future with either of them. Well, it was only the second day in the villa, so maybe something else would happen in the future. Y/n and Seonghwa continued talking, getting to know each other, when all of a sudden everyone received a text. The text told them all to meet at the fire pit. 

When Y/n and Seonghwa arrived at the fire pit, only a few of the others had arrived there. “I wonder what the purpose of this meeting is? It seems like we just had one literally yesterday,” Hwa said to you. “Maybe some sort of challenge? I’m not sure.” Lucy arrived along with the others and took her spot at the front of the stage-like area. “Unfortunately, I am having a family emergency. However, we have found a replacement! Everyone welcome Mr. Jackson Wang. Your eyes went wide, there was no way that the idol was standing in front of you right now. “Hi guys, I’m sure a lot of you know me, but I’ll give an introduction. My name is Jackson Wang and I’m an idol within the K-pop industry. I’ll be your host for the rest of the season! But that isn’t the only reason I’m here today. Two of you have been selected by the audience to go on a date with the contestant of your choosing!” You looked at both Jay and Seonghwa, not knowing who you’d choose if you were chosen to pick a date. “Y/n and Lia, you two will be the first to choose your dates. I’ll give you a few minutes, Y/n you’re up first.”

Chapter One: Entering the Villa 

Y/N referred to as y/n, with a mix of she and you because tbh I just wrote what felt natural for this style of fic!!

Here they were, all arriving at the villa. Really, it was all surreal. Y/N looked around at the spectacular view and the courtyard that had a fire pit. Of course, she couldn’t miss the giant pool that sat in the middle of everything. This had started out as a drunken mistake, her and her friends playing a game of truth or dare a couple of months ago. One of her friends has brought up the topic of her love life, or lack thereof. What she didn’t expect, was actually making it past the written application and getting an email about an in person interview. So now she was here, along with a bunch of other people trying to find love. They were all being introduced individually to the group, which made her nervous. Couldn’t they just read her profile? But no, she had to stand in front of everyone and make an introduction.

“Hello everyone!” A voice spoke, a woman's voice. “I’m your host, Lucy. Throughout your stay here, all challenges and gatherings will be hosted by me. We will now do introductions, starting with the men! The order will be as follows: Chan, San, Jay, Keeho, Ej, and last will be Seonghwa.” Y/n looked up from her spot on the couch and watched as the first male contestant took the stage. “Hello guys, my name is Christopher but you can just call me Chan or Chris! I’m 28 years old and since I was 18, I have been working as a fitness trainer. I work with people of all abilities, and design workout plans for them. Honestly, I’ve been very consumed with work and I needed to meet more people. So yeah, that’s a bit about me.” He smiled and walked back to where he had been sitting. Next, a man about the same height as the other walked up to the front. So far, you still eyed a man across from you, trying your best to be patient and wait for his introduction. “Sup! I’m San. I work as a security guard and a chaperone for many different artists and organizations. Don’t be fooled, I’m really just a big softie. I’m 26 years old, and outside of being a security guard, I love poetry.” Okay, maybe introductions weren’t too bad, you thought as the man you had been admiring walked up to the front. Before he began, he sent a wink in your direction, and of course everyone noticed. “Hi, my name is Park Jongseong but I just use Jay because well… It's much simpler. I’m 24 years old, but don’t let that fool you! One of my passions is cooking! I’m actually a head chef for a restaurant and that’s what I do for work. I decided to join the show after I got out of a toxic relationship. I figured that maybe the people I kept surrounding myself with were the problem. So yeah, I’m trying to put myself out there more with new people!” He smiled and walked back to his seat… wait no. He was heading in your direction. “Can I sit here?” He asked, sitting down next to you when you nodded. As the next man walked up to the stage, you waited in anticipation for your own turn. “Hello, my name is Keeho and I’m also 24. For my career, I do modeling. Outside of that, I also love photography and watching the sunset! Honestly, I joined this show because I was tired of being around the same people 24/7.” Y/n just smiled, so far… Jay and Chan seemed to catch her eye the most. However, there were still two to go. She smiled as the second to last male took the imaginary stage in front of them. Though, as much as she did want to go, she hoped it wasn’t first. “Hey y’all, I’m Ej. I’m 23 years old and I’m a twitch streamer. I know how that sounds, and most people think that gaming can only be a hobby. But really, it helps me relax, so one day, I thought I might as well start making money off of it. I’m here because my friends signed me up claiming I was lonely. My ideal type is someone who doesn’t criticize me for my career.” As Ej sat down, Seonghwa took the stage. “They clearly saved the best for last,” he joked. “Anyways, my name is Seonghwa and I’m 28. I honestly don’t have much free time  because I’m a doctor… and that is a huge commitment. So I guess that leads me to why I’m here. It’s obvious I’m not getting younger and I want to meet someone who I can come home to in between shifts.” Once Seonghwa finished, it was the girls’ turn to introduce themselves.

Lucy spoke again, walking up to the front. “The girls will go in this order: Lia, Lisa, Yeji, Winter, Y/n and finish with Jeongyeon.” Lia walked up to the front, clearly a bit shy. “Hi, my name is Lia and I’m 25 years old. Ironically, I work as a divorce attorney, which is quite the opposite of love… but here I am! My type is someone who has career goals in life because I want someone with dreams.” Lia quickly made her way off the stage, Y/n smiled, Lia seemed like someone she could be friends with. The next girl seemed to be the complete opposite, already looking to start drama. “Hey guys! I’m Lisa and I’m here to have a good time!! Well, and have a chance at love or whatever. My ideal man is… oh wait I forgot to say I’m 29. Anyways, I want my man to be someone who can have fun but also knows when it’s time to be serious.” She smiled and winked at Jay which made your stomach turn. He showed nothing in return though, so you left it for now. Besides, everyone is still introducing themselves, you were fine. The next girl took the stage and took a breath before speaking. “My name is Yeji and I’m 25! I’m a physical therapist, but I’m also a major flirt. However, I’m definitely a girl’s girl! So if you are serious about a man, I know when to back off.” She walked back to her seat, and suddenly it was nearly your turn. “My name is Winter, and I work in cybersecurity for a tech company! I’m 25 years old and my parents still ask me when I’ll get a boyfriend. So yeah, here I am looking for love so they’ll be quiet,” she chuckled before she went back to the couch she had been lounging on. Shit, it was your turn now. Y/n smiled as she walked up to the front and began her introduction. “Hello! My name is Y/n and I’m 24 years old! I run and own a dance studio that I teach at along with some of my closest friends. I joined the show because I’m a bit of a hopeless romantic… My ideal type is someone who respects me and can support me.” You waved before taking your seat next to Jay. “Well, I’m last,” Jeongyeon began. “I’m Jeongyeon and I’m 29. I work as a bartender and I joined the show because I’ve never had a serious relationship and I want to change that.” She smiled before sitting back down and Lucy took the stage again. “Now that introductions are over… the men will choose the girl they want to couple up with first. You will choose in the same order you did your introductions! You do have the option to steal another man’s choice by the way, if you choose to play that way. Chan, the floor is yours.” He stood up and walked over to Winter. “I choose Winter,” he said, and the two moved to the chosen couples area where they could continue to get to know each other. Second was San, and he chose Jeongyeon. Now came Jay, and he immediately took Y/n’s hand, guiding the two of them to join the other’s. “I mean, I wouldn’t have chosen anyone else,” he said with a smile. Keeho went next and chose Lia, which everyone thought was an interesting combination. Next was Ej and he chose Yeji.Seonghwa was last and he could either choose Lisa… or choose someone else and Lisa would go to that guy. Seonghwa was a nice guy, but he was here to explore connections and he wasn’t afraid to step on some toes. I choose Lia… sorry about that Keeho.” Keeho didn’t mind,  there was still plenty of time. “All good man!” Now that everyone had their couples, they were free to explore the villa. However, no one was prepared for what was to come.
