Are there any fic writers you'd recommend for literati?
HI! There’s definitely some that I’d love to recommend that I think people would love their work:
behindtheinnocence, aka @natsugia - great writer of original AUs, in-character dialogue and funny discussions of literature. She writes both Jess and Rory so well, and gives them a lot of funny moments and beautiful scenes. I highly recommend their work, if you’re looking for both post-series or Canon Divergence AUs.
MrsMess - one of the best writers for post-series Literati, imo. She can take something as badly written as the revival and turn it into a heartfelt, moving story where both Jess and Rory are allowed to be complicated adults who navigate through a new relationship with each other (I especially love how she does Rory justice as a character, something that can be really tricky, and not that many writers are up for it). Also amazing at writing some pretty original AUs as well.
ksfd89 - great writer for many different AUs, but in particular for post-series ones. Some of them are sort of heavy in material, but I love that despite the emotional weight, they’re very in-character and they always offer a satisfying end.
starsholiday - this writer only has one work that I’m sure you’ve seen me recommend, but it’s honestly amazing. Gilmore Girls can sometimes be specific with their pop culture references, so finding fics that nail that, and be well-written and offer great character development (after the revival, no less), can be a bit hard, but they’ve managed to get all three qualifications under their belt for this work.
once-was-serendipity - their AUs are a combination of funny, emotional, and in-character all at once. The writing style is pretty good, the dialogue great, and although their last fic isn’t finished, I still recommend it purely for how fun it is.
AngelEyez - if you’re looking for the main source of Literati angst fics, you’ve found it. Some of her fics offer a happy ending, some don’t, but all of them are pretty great, and surprisingly done during the show’s original airing.
Hallon - another great writer who offers both Canon Divergence AUs and post-series ones. One particular aspect about their fics that I love is how some can be very funny and still lighthearted and hopeful, even when they’re dealing with a more specifically hard situation or part of Jess and Rory’s story.
Andra-ggfan - There’s so many different kinds of fics here for Lit! The material ranges from cute to angst, and all of them are great. I especially recommend Ricochet, a post-series AU where Jess and Rory meet up for the holidays at Stars Hollow, as well as Go for Good, a post-revival AU.
TrappedInPast - this is another great author from back when the show first aired, and all of their fics are incredible. There’s a lot of different material here as well, so I definitely think you’ll like their work.
rainwater tears (also their AO3, bookglue) - another great writer from back in the day whose fics are sometimes short, but really great.
FallAway - great author with a lot of great one-shots.
alexisbldels - this one’s a newer writer who has some pretty great fics. Her current ongoing one is a Chilton!AU that’s incredibly interesting.
atdaokai - another new writer who’s written a Season 3!AU that I haven’t had the chance to finish, but I think is really great. They handle the material we were left with pretty amazingly, and the plot progresses at a steady pace while it offers a much more hopeful and positive solution for both Jess and Rory.
