ever after high redesigns

Concerning the Ever After High Visual Novel I want to make, I really wanted to ask other fans of eah who are interested in this project, what is something you'd be interesting seeing be a part of this project, and what is your favorite aspect about Ever After High as a whole?

It can be concerning art, characters, story, themes, pretty much anything you love about Ever After High, that you'd want included or expanded upon in this project! If you wish to respond please send me an ask to this blog, but before doing so please keep these key aspects of the project in mind! (Under the cut)

1. This visual novel will be, at its core, about Apple discovering and coming to terms with the fact that she's a lesbian, and how she experiences comphet (compulsory heterosexuality). It will explore many queer themes in each route, and is a queer story through and through. That being said, I would love to hear any queer concepts, themes, or experiences you'd like to see explored!

2. This is also a dating sim, with set romanceable characters. Those being Raven, Darling, Briar, and Daring (with Daring's route not being a true genuine romance, as she is a lesbian deep down). For the sake of not overcomplicating things, I won't be including more love interests than this. However, I have a few non romanceable main characters and side characters in mind, and would love to hear which side characters people would like to see included!

3. This story takes place while they are in their senior year of highschool, during Prom season, so given their age there will be no explicit or nsfw aspect to this story, either visual or described in the text. They will still experience attraction and have intimate moments together physically, just nothing of an explicitly sexual nature. The focus will be the romance side of these interactions. (Basically no sex or fanservice will be included or hinted at). I would love to hear any romantic situations or tropes you'd like to see explored, and between which characters!

4. The story will take place awhile after the events of Epic Winter, in their senior year, and is in a lot of ways a continuation of eah from Apple's perspective, told through her relationships with the other characters. What are aspects of ever after high's plot and characters, that was left unfinished, would you like to see adressed in this fan work?

5. While this project is more focused on the characters and story of eah, I recognize that eah was designed to be a fashion doll line first and foremost. That being said, what would people like to see on the fashion and art side of this visual novel? What kind of outfits would you want to see included, other than their day to day main outfits and Prom outfits? Most if not all of the art for the game will be done by myself, however I be opening things up to include guest artists much later in the process as well!

Please let me know any thoughts you have by sending me an ask! And even if you have no ideas for this specific project, just hearing what it is you love and appreciate about Ever After High would be super helpful! Thank you <3

Some sprite sketches of the female love interests for the eah visual novel idea! These are just sketches meant to get their poses, proportions, and faces down, as well as a base so I can sketch out all their different expressions on (which I have done for Raven but not the other two yet). Aka the details are not ironed out whatsoever lol

More eah vn ramblings under the cut!

Okay so based on the amount of love interests, non romanceable main characters, side characters, and alternate poses I want to do for this, I estimated it's going to be about 23 unique sprites, with about 17 alternate outfits. And for backgrounds I'm guessing at least 18, and for sure minimum 12 cg's (full illustrations at important story moments). I won't think about interface and UI art until I start actually making the game, so no estimates for that.

On the art front alone this project is going to take many many many months, since it's a lot of work I'll need to do to get all of that done and polished. But I'm having fun so far working on it!

Also as a heads up I'll for sure show sketches of about 70% of the art I do as I progress with it, but all of the cg's, late game designs, and fully finished versions of the art won't be shared until I'm actually done and start doing promotional stuff, or until the games released, for the sake of not spoiling everything lol

A lot of whats going on right now is just planning stuff, like what needs to be drawn and written and outlined, and these sprite sketches are more to get the ball rolling so I can visualize what I'm doing, if that makes sense.

That's all on the project for now, I'll be tagging my posts about it with 'eah vn' for now until I come up with a proper name (which probably won't be for a longggggg time). Thanks for reading this far and for all the interest! <3
