Isle of Shenanigans (and Music) - Poof and Loofa
Two skykids sat on the sandy hills. Or mountains. One couldn’t really tell how tall they were. What height even meant was uncertain because what little land there was around them was surrounded by a sea of clouds.
The pink-caped one, named Poof, squeezed the hand of the yellow-caped one. They stood up and pulled them along. “Let’s go Loofa!” they honked.
Poof ran to the edge of the cliffside, Loofa right behind him. Loofa didn’t end up with much control of where they were going. A stone brick platform stuck out of the rocks, serving as a liftoff point.
Poof barely stopped, letting go of Loofa’s hand and jumping, or falling, off the edge. They quickly flew back into the wind. The cape on their back glowed in the wind, glinting off the clouds as they flew higher.
Loofa smiled and jumped into the wind to follow them.
Poof peaked over their shoulder and reached out to grab Loofa’s hand.
The two flew over the clouds and up to the familiar ruin that welcomed the skykids to the biggest cloudy exapance of the world. Poof veered to the right, into the funnel of clouds. They snickered, throwing Loofa ahead of them.
Loofa flipped as they glided ahead sticking their tongue out at Poof. Poof laughed and dove into the clouds, using their light energy to propel themself to catch up with Loofa.
Loofa landed on the patch of land, turning to open their arms for Poof. Poof knocked Loofa over in a hug as they landed (crashed), giggling. They kinda just flopped on Loofa on the fluffy grass. Their cape hugged them too.
Poof’s dark purple scarf fell off their face a little as they pulled up. “Okay let’s get the candlewax in there,” they reached out their hand to pull Loofa up.
Each of the skykids pulled out their small red candles to open the stone door. The door dragged open, and Poof ran in and jumped up to fly to the sealed pot of light creature butterflies.
Loofa perched on one of the stones that opens the skylight under heat, holding their candle.
Poof landed next to them, grinned and ran to the other. They both held their candles to the gemstones.
Loofa looked up, squinting their eyes at the sunlight streaming through the open hole in the cavern’s roof. They walked forward, and felt Poof interlace their fingers in Loofa’s. Loofa sang out to the butterflies, squeezing Poof’s hand.
The butterflies swirled around the two skychildren, chipping. Their feet lifted off the ground, and they flew-- or rather floated-- up through the ceiling.
Loofa’s feet snuggled into the grass covering the cliff. Poof’s hand was still nestled in Loofa’s as they landed next to them.
Poof grinned and pulled Loofa through the caves inside the cliff, up to the clearing nestled in the clouds.
The butterflies of light nestled around the skykids faces, landing around their shoulders and arms. Loofa giggled as one landed on Poof’s forehead. Poof went cross eyed to see it.
A cluster of butterflies landed in Loofa’s hands.
Poof grabbed their horn from their back and ran to the edge of the cliff and blew into it with a loud HONK before starting to play a song.
Loofa walked up behind Poof, taking out their piano and sitting next to them.
Poof grinned down at them. Loofa smiled up at them, playing the highest key in time to start the tune.
On the sixth count the pair started playing their song. The butterflies danced around them, shimmering golden-yellow in the light.
Poof tooted the last of their notes and let their horn hand drop to their side as they sat down next to Loofa.
Loofa plinked away at the last tune of the song, looking up to Poof as they finished.
Poof pounced on top of Loofa, letting the instruments push away from them.
The two of them giggled. Loofa pushed Poof’s hair, which was coming undone, behind their ear, out of the way to kiss them.
Poof’s hand cupped Loofa’s on the side of their face.
They stared at each other a while.
They eventually ended up holding hands looking up at the clouds together.
