“Long time no see.” Clinking his beer against hers he took a sip. “How have you been? You’ve been gone a long time.”
“I have been pretty good. I haven’t left camp in forever so I am sorry for not coming to visit. There was a lot of political things going on at the camp so it took a while for me to get everything settled.” She tries to explain. “Don’t think that I have forgotten about you.” Sky teases lightly.
Have a Beer
Sitting on the sand, beer in hand, Ash sipped it as he looked up at the moon. The bright color showing enough light down to see. Usually he was the only one out here so he didn’t expect to feel the presence of someone else. Turning he grabbed an unopened bottle. “Beer? Sit and chat. It’s been awhile since anyone has taken me up on a drink.”
Skylar had not left the camp in a long time and she figured that she should get out and interact with at least someone. She made her way to the ship to find Ashton since he was the only other person she really knew on the island. He saw him sitting in the sand and went over to join him. “Hey stranger. How have you been?” She asks with a smile before taking him up on his offer. “Sure why not.”
No Second Chances [Skylar & Jax]
Jax turned around, halfway to screaming when he replied. “You don’t get it! If I wasn’t her father back then, then I’m not her father now! If you were trying to get even or something, I replaced you so you replaced me, congrats, you fucking succeeded. You took away the one thing from me that means more than anything by not telling me and had someone else take my spot, so I’m not going to make amends for something that wasn’t my fault. You wanted me out of her life? Then it’s your fault I’m never going to be a part of it. If she ends up more hurt, it’s on you. Stop trying to blame everyone else for once and just fucking accept that you’re not perfect either.” He hissed, his nails digging into the palm of his hand and breaking skin before he forced himself away, not listening to another word she said as he went back to his tent.
"Yeah out of the part of her life that I could control I can’t control what she does anymore so if she wanted you in her life that is up to her. But you should at least make an attempt to do something now that you do know.” She huffs before noticing he’s not even paying attention and just turning back to Jay knowing she was there. “Well you wanted to know who he was and now you do. It’s up to you whether or not you want to talk to him or try to get to know him. I refuse to have anything to do with him anymore.”

“You’ve got to remember that not everyone reacts the same way as you, Sky. You may think you did me a favor, but dying very well might’ve been a nice alternative to living everyday alone in a tent because everyone looks down at you now. Yes I was in a bad place, and yes I still am. You want to know why, though? Everyone suddenly hated me, and I couldn’t pinpoint why. Now I know it’s because they all thought that I didn’t give a fuck about my daughter, the same thing she thinks when in reality, I just was never even given a chance to. Even if you didn’t want me in her life, Tiger Lily was right; you should have told me.” Jax said, his head pounding as he shook it and stepped back. “Next time you want to make life decisions for me or anyone else, maybe you should take into consideration the impact of it on the other person, too.” His pulse was racing and all he could think about were the ways Ryan had told him to channel his anger, ways he knew weren’t acceptable at the moment. He turned and walked towards the woods, not sparing a glance back at her but calling out. “Oh, and tell your dad that I said hi, if you’d like.”
“The only other person in the equation was her. She was all that mattered. You weren’t in the picture not after what you did. You could have at least ended it before doing what you did. I get you got tired of me but you could have had the respect to tell me about it. No one knew she was yours. Only Ashton and Tiger Lily knew the truth. I knew you were in a bad place so I didn’t tell anyone that would have possibly told you. So what now you are going to walk away? See this is why I never tell you anything because the moment you don’t like something you walk away. Let me guess I am never going to hear from you again right because you are just so pissed that you have a daughter that you now know about yet you don’t want to even bother doing anything about it now that you do know. If you couldn’t be her father then at least make an attempt to be her father now. Because if she finds out that it is you, and she has already talked to you but you never did anything about it, then it would hurt her even more. But go ahead walk away, act like you don’t care again.”

“They don’t come back if they think you mean it. You’re generalizing the population into a small group who act a certain way and comparing everyone in the world to them. Your perfect guy? He’d sit around waiting for you to come back from wherever you are, maybe just playing chess by himself, only to bombard you with attention when he gets back. His only care in the world would be you being happy every second of the day and I hate to break it to you but, while that may happen in movies, life is shit. Everyone has something on their plates and sometimes they can’t be around people like you to figure it all out. How do you think Jay felt when she found out her mother was lying to her her entire life? You may have been doing that for her safety in your mind and she may have acted okay with it, but do you know what it feels like to not even know that you don’t have one of your birth parents around? Then you find out that the one that’s left that you thought you could trust in every aspect isn’t so trustworthy after all. She’ll lose her sense of a parental figure and, you know what happens when that occurs? What happens with everyone here; she’ll sleep around, not care about personal attachments, lose sense of what real love is like. You may think you did the right thing short term, but you fucked up the life of our daughter and while you may choose to overlook that, that’s a burden I’m going to be stuck carrying because of you for the rest of my life. I don’t leave family. If there’s one thing I still believe in, it’s the importance of that. However, we never got to the point where we were and in turn Jay and I never will get there. Blame me all you want, but I’m not totally guilty here.”
“Yeah actually I do, my mother passed away after my brother was born or so we were told. She had ran off to go live with someone else at another part of Neverland. I understood what that meant. She didn’t want us and it’s better that I know the truth now than never know at all. You are right love doesn’t exist so she can continue to go around not having to deal with getting attached to someone who will go and break her heart. Jay grew up around her family and that is all that matters. She grew up with her uncle, her aunts, a father figure, she was surrounded by people who cared about her not ones that got bored and left them. She was my daughter and had I told my father who the real father of my child was. He would have killed you so believe it or not I did you a favor. If I told you and he saw you coming to our tent he would know that you were the one that got me pregnant. At least a ‘drunken one night stand but still took on the responsibility of raising a child is more redeemable in his eyes than someone who cheated their daughter twice and never cared to do anything about it. Tiger Lily wanted me to tell you and I didn’t want to tell you at first simply because I was still hurting. When she was born, the way that Ashton was around her, he lit up her world and I wasn’t going to take that from her. He stayed around and helped raise her even play house from time to time. I thought about bringing her around but I had heard you were in a bad place and there was no way that I was bringing her into that. If I had to do it over again, maybe I would have given you a chance but she was happy that’s all that really mattered.”

“Remember when you said you never wanted to see me again? There are plenty of times I debated coming back to talk to you, to try to at least get us back on decent terms, but you yelling that has a tendency to ring in my head whenever I almost forget it. Besides, I told you early on that if you were looking for a guy who would always chase you, I wasn’t going to be the right person for you.” Jax ruffled his hand through his unkempt hair, feeling exhausted already just from listening to her defend herself. “You could hate me all you wanted, but you had no right to not even let me know she was alive. She is as much my daughter genetically as she is yours, and no matter what help you may have had in raising her, there are somethings she will never experience or feel without having her birth father in her life. I cared about you, but we both knew that our relationship was going nowhere. We had already fallen into a never-ending pattern and, while you may have been okay with that kind of lack of excitement, I wasn’t. I’m not. That doesn’t change the fact that your decision negatively impacted the lives of other people in ways you’ll never understand.”
“Yeah a lot of people say that when they are upset but if they care enough they come by to talk to you about it. Well if she got to experience them with someone who she thought her father was up until a point in which she got in trouble and I had to tell her the truth about you. She was perfectly happy growing up with Ashton in her life and seeming as you aren’t in a sane state of mind recently I think I made the right decision. You couldn’t even get your life back together or figure out what you wanted to do. I had stopped by the camp from time to time to ask about you thinking maybe I should say something but I thought it would only make things worse so I kept quiet. You say you were tired of the never ending cycle well what do you think telling you about her would do? We would just repeat the never ending cycle of being together. It was better that she thought she had parents that loved her and took care of her rather than one that got bored and decided to leave. What would have happened if I told you but you got bored of her like you did me? Leaving her would have been worse than her not knowing you existed in the first place.”

Jax kept his hands curled into tight fists in his pockets, trying to wrap his brain around what he had learned. He had a daughter; a daughter he was never even informed about. He shook his head, looking up as he heard his name and keeping his face as straight as possible. “What am I doing here? Oh, you know, just going for a walk for the first time in what must have been months. Now I’m socializing with the second person I’ve talked to in that same time period, but I have to admit I’m surprised at who was the first. I think you know her; she goes by the name Jay.” He said, trying to suppress the anger that felt like it was engulfing him. “When were you going to tell me?”
“Oh I was going to tell you. Remember when I walked in on you and that lost boy having sex? I said I had something to tell you that didn’t matter anymore because I wasn’t going to let you anywhere near us after you went and did that? Maybe that slipped your mind at the fact that I normally would shift to get away from you but for some odd reason I couldn’t. Yeah, I was pregnant Jax, yeah she was yours and I was going to tell you but then I realized that you never really cared so why should I bother telling you about something that would have just been a burden to your little budding romance.” Sky crosses her arms clearly unpleased at Jax’s words. “Maybe if you wouldn’t have snuck off to cheat for I don’t know the second time maybe I would have told you. But to walk in on that? No, you lost the right to be her father when you cheated. You never even had the decency to come by and maybe try to explain yourself instead you cooped yourself up at the lost boy’s camp and did absolutely nothing all this time. So from what I understand, if you didn’t care enough to even check up or try to apologize or right your wrongs, you don’t care enough to be a father. After all it’s not like you cared about me so why would I assume that you would care about her?”

Sky had been back at camp, she knew that she would not be able to control Jay now that she had left. She hoped that by telling Jay the truth about her father it would convince her to stay away from magic and just about anyone else on the island but it did the exact opposite. She knew that it was just a matter of time before Jay had come back home. Sky saw someone in the distance and hoped that it was Jay, but instead it was someone she had not wanted to see in a long time. “Jax? What are you doing here?”

“You liked me?” Mark asked smirking. “I mean I’m not surprised, I’m pretty attractive but this would have been excellent information to know years ago.” Mark said with a light laugh.
Sky nodded her head, “Don’t be so full of yourself though, you aren’t the only one I liked on this island.” She teases playfully. “Why would it have been good to know years ago?”

“You don’t remember? I had a major crush on you when we were younger. Of course your brother and dad weren’t having it, but that didn’t stop me…until your dad talked to me and scared me shitless.” Mark said laughing.
Sky raises a brow, “I was rather oblivious to things like that when I was younger though...although I did like you told my brother that but I told him not to tell my father about it.” She replies with a small laugh. “Maybe that’s why they kept you away.”

“I think she will and hey your dad helped raise you and turned out to be pretty fucking awesome, so I would say his strictness worked out in the end. An added bonus is he hasn’t tried to kill me yet.”
“That is true, I did turn out pretty awesome.” She replies with a small laugh. “Why would he try to kill you? I mean given he isn’t keen on mermaids and sirens but he doesn’t mind them either.”

“Thanks mom, I promise I’ll be careful.” Mark said letting out a laugh as he playfully rolled his eyes. “See with advice like that your daughters going to have a good head on her shoulders.”
Sky just laughed while playfully pushing Mark. “I hope she takes it though, I know how kids can be. Rebellious and all but I don’t think I could ever be as strict as my father.”

Mark frowned.“You didn’t make bad decisions Sky, that lost boy did. Don’t be so hard on yourself.” Shaking his head, Mark smiled. “I’ll pass on the mating stuff for awhile, I like having sex way too much right now to think about all that. I’m not ready for a serious commitment.”
“Then you better be careful about who you sleep with you don’t want to end up like me or in a position where you are stuck with someone simply because you slept with them.”

“I could just make that fear go away if you want me to, and yeah definitely send her over. It gets pretty boring over there and I know you have to take care of Tiger Lily and everything.” Mark smiled. “That’s great, I’m happy I don’t have to deal with that.”
“I know you can but if it goes away then I might accidentally say something without realizing it and that would get me into even worse trouble. Well you might have to if you ever decide to mate with someone on the island, although I would hope you make better decisions than myself.” She semi-jokes, with a hint of truth to her words.

Mark nodded in understanding. “I get it, I promise I won’t say anything to anyone. Mostly cause I’m afraid you’ll hurt me.” Mark said nudging Sky in the shoulder. “But you know, Jay’s is going to ask you one day who her father is and why he was never around, and you’re going to have to answer that. You can either decide to be honest or lie, both have consequences and I just don’t want you and your daughter to fall out because of them. And hey if things get hard send her to me, I’m great with kids. You don’t have to go through this alone Sky.” The siren said offering her a smile. “It’s not cute Skylar. I could run circles around you now.” Mark said puffing his chest out to prove a point before laughing. “It’s cool, I got some insight on her from Nibs so I think I’m prepared. But what about the other mermaids and sirens? They haven’t caused any problems right?”
“I will deal with that when the time comes and I will tell her when she is old enough to understand. That is true I can send her to camp Mark for a little while I am sure she wouldn’t mind it either, but fair warning she is a ball of energy and quite the mischief maker. Unfortunately she really doesn’t like to swim in water though so I am trying to get her to conquer her fear of water.” She replies before thinking about it. “I haven’t heard about there being any problems so far which is definitely good.”

“So this lost boy is a literal douche.” He said frowning as he listened to Sky. “And he’s still alive? Wow your dad has eased up a lot.” Mark said surprised. “But hey if you need someone to beat him up, I’ve been working out so I’ll be more than happy to take this asshole down.” The siren said laughing as he flexed his arms “Yeah Misty, she’s a lost girl I think. I was actually headed over there before I ran into your cute butt.”
“I never told my father, he would literally kill me and he would kill Jax as well I can’t have that.” She slapped her hand over her mouth when she said the boy’s name. “You seriously can’t say anything about or to him about Jay. It’s better he doesn’t know about her. She will be happier like this and I don’t want to have to explain to her why her father isn’t around or why he doesn’t love me. Parenting is so freaking complicated honestly.” She just lets out a frustrated sigh before letting out a small laugh, “Aw you have been working out, that’s cute. Maybe we should work out together then, I could always use someone to run around the island with.” Sky teases before nodding her head, “Yea Misty is one of the lost girls, I don’t think I have talked to her much though.”

“You have a daughter?” Mark asked surprised. Crossing his arm over his chest he gave Sky a serious look. “Is this lost boy currently in your life or do I need to beat him up? Cause I will.” The siren laughed, shaking his head. “First of all Skylar its called a trident and no I did not take it…this time. I’m just watching over his granddaughter now and he’s jumping down my throat to make sure I don’t mess up or something.”
“I do, the day I was going to tell him that I was pregnant was the day that I walked in on him cheating on me with some other lost boy. So I just never ended up telling him and that is how it will stay. I broke it off with him and one of the pirates found me and helped me with the pregnancy and all. I have been taking care of her by myself though and she is doing perfectly fine. Besides it’s not like the lost boy would actually do anything or care about what happened, he probably wouldn’t want anything to do with her anyway.” She replies nonchalantly. “Granddaughter? Who is his granddaughter?”
