@skylarwalters
Niall Horan @NiallOfficial So proud to be a #TeamEurope ambassador. Only 30 days to go! #thecaptainschoice @RyderCupEurope
Skylar had figured that going to the school to walk around and finally get familiar with it was a good idea, considering school started in the next couple weeks. What he wasn’t expecting was to run into someone there, who seemed to be working. He watched her for a moment, leaning on the door way and then bit his lip when she spoke. “If I was your student I would. I don’t think there is a certain dress code or anything for teachers to wear, though you really don’t look like a teacher.” Skylar paused. “How long did you know I was there?”
“Technically, I’m just an assistant, but I’m still supposed to look like I know what I’m doing,” Emily admitted with a faint shrug, crossing her arms hopelessly. “I dunno, Ray always tells me that I’m overthinking it, but this is the first job I’ve had where I’m not serving pancakes or selling records, so I guess it’s a little more important to me than I thought.” She glanced down at her skirt once more, figuring that he was right - there was no definitive way a professor was supposed to look; everyone she had met at Howell was proof of that. “Just a wild guess, I suppose… could’ve easily been talking to nobody, so I think you saved me there.” They still had a few days before school started, so she eyed him curiously, “And what are you doing around here?”
Skylar chuckled and nodded his head. “I see your point in that, guess you don’t want to look too much like a slob or anything else.” He shrugged as he put his hands in his pockets and lingered at the door way. “Well, if I knew Ray, which I don’t, but besides the point. I would agree with him. First day jitters are a normal thing and overthinking would be a good way to put it. Not in a bad way of course.” The blonde gave her a small smile, hoping that would help calm her nerves then grinned. “Well I’m glad to be of service. And I figured it was my first year here, as a junior but I just wanted to get to know my way around.”
“I don’t even know why I bother getting new clothes if I’m just going to get it covered in paint,” Emily huffed, examining the various yellowed speckles that had landed on her ‘new’ skirt —- relatively speaking, seeing as she’d gotten it from the flea market. Nonetheless, she straightened out and offered a faint smile, “Be honest with me - does this skirt make me look somewhat professional? Like, if you were my student, would you take me seriously?”

Skylar saw Amani’s face brighten up, laughing lightly. “I mean, if you’re willing to do it, then who am I to deny? In fact I’d be stupid to deny, let’s be honest here.” As they stepped outside, the blonde breathed in and and made a face. “Would have thought it would have been a bit better but I was wrong.” He looked over at the other and smirked back at him, shaking his head. “Take it as you will.” The blonde winked at him
Amani’s pace slowed down a little stunned at that though he tried to play it off, quickly catching back up to Skylar, matching his stride as he, still a bit iffy about whether or not he was just pulling at Amani’s leg. So to test the waters properly, he reached over, letting his thumb brush against the blonde’s hips lightly, “All you gotta do is say ‘when’,” he insisted, a small grin on his lips. He focused back onto the task at hand, eyeing which direction they need to head before leading the way, “August is supposed to be the worst month for humidity so I’m glad it’s almost over at least. It’ll be nice to go back to not living in a fucking sauna.”
Skylar turned his head and realized that Amani wasn’t walking beside him anymore and was about to stop and question, until the other matched his stride. He felt the other’s hand on his hip and Skylar smirked a bit over at Amani. “I mean, I’m free tomorrow, I can pencil you in if you’d like.” The blonde half joked and half meant it, he really would be stupid if he was going to say no to a little something with the olive skinned man. “We’ve only got a couple more weeks of August left, so at least we’ll be in luck. Would have at least thought the dorms would come with central air conditioning.”
“Don’t say it unless you’re willing to hold yourself to it.” Skylar grinned as he started to walk out, waiting for Amani to follow and lead the way. “It is nice, and I don’t really mind the humidity, if anything, a shower before bed is going to be called for so.”
“Is that a challenge?” Amani’s features brightened immediately at that, following close behind, not willing to let that go just yet needing some clarification first, “Or more like an invitation?” Stepping outside, he was only slightly disappointed to see he was still right about humidity, tugging his shirt away from clinging to his chest to at least let his skin breath while they walked, “Another invitation?” he smirked, teasing this time more like.

Skylar couldn’t help the laugh that escaped at Amani’s words. “Alright alright, you have a point, but it’s also a factor that you do owe me for keeping me awake in the middle of the night.” He paused for effect. “And not in a good way.” The blonde grinned and then nodded. “I’m fine with walking really.”
“Maybe next time I’ll just have to make sure it’s in the good way then,” Amani teased, offering the boy his best grin before clapping his hand over his stomach, “Let’s go then. It’s nice out anyway. The humidity hasn’t been too bad so we’ll only get slightly swampy on the way there.”
“Don’t say it unless you’re willing to hold yourself to it.” Skylar grinned as he started to walk out, waiting for Amani to follow and lead the way. “It is nice, and I don’t really mind the humidity, if anything, a shower before bed is going to be called for so.”

@SkyW: If the school could invest in some bug screens, that would be great.
“Okay you have a point there, but no need to go rubbing it in my face and all.” Skylar made at face at Amani before grinning. “That so? Where is that at? And is this your way of asking me to that dinner that you owe me? Because if so, tikka masala sounds delicious right about now.”
“Yeah, see? I flash around a little cash. Offer to buy you food. And suddenly I don’t look so bad, do I? I even have a car, I could really spoil you by driving us there but — I think I’m gonna make you walk with me. It’s not too far so you’ll be fine. If I can make it with these lungs then anyone can handle it. Some places make their masala sauce a little too tomatoey but this place gets that balance between the cream and tomatoes just right.”
Skylar watched as Amani looked into his pocket and then raised his brow at the other when he said how much was in there. “Fifteen bucks?” The blonde asked as he tried not to smile, though shaking his head. “Thanks for the offer, but I might have to pass up on the five, I don’t think that will get me very far.” He chuckled. “Well did you expect anything else? I mean, as ridiculous as it is, people go for trends, just go along with it and let them be.”
“That’s fifteen more bucks that you don’t have,” Amani joked giving his fat wallet a pat in his backpocket. “Fifteen bucks actually gets me the best chicken tikka masala in the city. They give you big enough portions for two if you’d be interested? Or are you more of a lamb kabab type of guy? …KFC?”
“Okay you have a point there, but no need to go rubbing it in my face and all.” Skylar made at face at Amani before grinning. “That so? Where is that at? And is this your way of asking me to that dinner that you owe me? Because if so, tikka masala sounds delicious right about now.”
“A small modest loan of a million dollars from his father? Yeah, I don’t exactly have that, either of those things so really, chances of me making a mogul of myself isn’t happening in the near future. If anything, it’ll be a mogul that’s nothing like Donald Trump so.” Skylar laughed lightly. “Well if you do, then I might actually apply then, I can kiss ass to the owner and all. I don’t mind leafy stuff, though I agree with you on that.”
“I’ve got about..” Amani paused to dig his wallet from his pocket, peeking inside at the money he was currently toting around, “Fifteen bucks in my pocket. You can have a small, very modest loan of five of that,” he teased before shoving the wallet back into place. “It’s full of fucking hipsters there and people who expect everything to be gluten-free with like zero trans-fat and whatever else. Just pretend you know what they mean when they say ‘free trade’.”
“Looking is a loose term. More like, waiting for a job to come to me. Which I know isn’t going to happen, but hey, a guy can dream. Wow, you are definitely selling me on wanting to apply at your job man, just it sounds like the dream really. Is that how you eat kale? Boiled down? Oh god, I can just see that.”
“You can’t wait for shit to happen to you. With just a small modest loan of a million dollars from his father, Donald Trump was able to make a mogul out of himself. I may be packing groceries today but in a few years, who knows? Maybe I’ll own the damn place,” Amani was joking of course, having no intention of still working at the same food store longer than he absolutely had to. But having a friend there might make it more tolerable. “I hate leafy stuff. I like my meat and potatoes, myself.”
