I'm so tired of the aroace and asexual labels being prioritized over aromanticism standing alone in the queer community

Asexuality is so often talked about as an identity separate from aro, and that's good! But it's always "don't worry, asexuals can still date! They're not heartless!".

Asexuality gets its own space in the community because it can still be romantic. But when you go looking for mentions of aromanticism, it's so often "ace and aro". Posts and conversations and art is either about aroaces or about asexuality and aromanticism. Asexuality gets its own space, but aromanticism doesn't.

Isolation within the community that's supposed to be inclusive for all is a genuine problem and it makes me sad. On aromantic day yesterday, all I saw was aroace stuff. What about those who don't fit in that mold?

In order to get people more willing to come in for checkups, Lobby's nurses and staff have convinced them to open up more and reach out via this blog post!

Lobotica was elected after curing a plague that swept through the entire Earth and Grove. They wouldn't turn anyone down who needed medical help, mental or physical, leading to them being very well-known as a "miraculous worker."

Now Lobotica's settled into their realm, which is within hobbyhoo. Currently, they don't know many of the other Gods very well as they're a bit... Shy. He's not the most talkative and is very much a workaholic. Although King has been trying to get him to open up and talk to the other gods more.

I'm mostly doing this because I love this oc of mine and he has a crap ton of lore.) (I'll get to answering asks as soon as I can!! Although motivation will vary day by day.)

Guys if you want queer shit written by queers on our own terms you're going to have to start seeking out weird independent media. I'm sorry that's the only place you can regularly find it idk what to tell you, we can't keep acting like there's nothing if we're not getting blockbusters and triple A titles or whatever it is we're waiting around for. The thing you keep saying you want is already being offered for free by one person making a passion project on the internet and you would both benefit enormously if you interacted with it instead of lamenting that the only options we have for representation are pandering afterthoughts from corporate shit

I say this with so, so much care: Real queer shit written by real queers can and will sometimes make you uncomfortable. That's one of the defining features of weird, independent queer media. And weird independent media more broadly. Art that comes from true individual passion and authenticity has edges and bite to it that mass market corporate products intentionally do not. Has a rawness that can offend.

You are allowed to feel uncomfortable about it. But don't ask for queers to self censor for your comfort.
