jaina:
Ever since Jacen had been reunited with Tenel Jaina had found herself having a lot of alone time. Jaina had never really realized how much time she spent with her twin until they were separated and she was surprisingly lonely, after all he was her best friend. Wandering around the city, she looked in the shops, trying to find something to fill her time without him and without flying as she had found that , well, being trapped in a force field or whatever it is made flying ships really fast and really far pretty damn difficult. Maybe a drink would occupy her time better?
So with that the woman made her way to a cantina, taking a seat at the bar “I’ll take a Claing juice.” Jaina said with a sigh before glancing at whoever was next to her, feeling a sudden urge of generosity, maybe it’s because she was lonely. “And I’ll pay for their drink too.” She pointed her head in their direction.
time seemed to have slowed down ever since that fateful night he had not only fought by his father’s side ( who was still left completely in the dark of ben being his biological son ) but he also met his mother, who was more or less had given him the most logical reaction since she was revived with no recollection of who he was, nor able to accept that ben is her son despite his frustrated cries to her. it... was an emotional breaking point that at this point, ben was still trying to recover. who could really blame him? both of his parents had left him alone with his relatives ----- which they had also begun to disappear or fall to the dark side ------ and felt each of their presences within the existing realm become apart of the force. it was a feeling that was sorrowful but he knew they had become one with the existing movement of the universe.
though he was still considered to be too young to be in the catina ---- lucky for ben, he was known around these parts. he had to learn how to live in the undertiers of coruscant as a young teen in order for his survival until he was old enough to join the resistance, so a bit of thievery and gambling was something he had not only learned from those who were far more experienced but... a certain uncle han and lando had taught him their ways while growing up. finding himself in the familiar scene, he sat at the counter ---- nodding his head at the barkeep who recognized him with a simple nod in return.
ben had no intention of drinking away his feelings ------ though, the thought was tempting ------- but there was the pull of a chair next to him and a familiar voice had ordered a drink, then one of him. the young man was nearly taken aback upon turning his head to find that she was definitely someone he had known. he was a young boy when he last saw his older cousin; sure enough, here she was. this time, however, he held no sadness or teary eyes ----- all he had on his face was a purely delighted surprised countenance.
❛❛ jai------ ❜❜ he stops mid-call, biting down on his lip, afraid that... her reaction would be like his mother’s. he had grown a wall over the years, telling himself that he couldn’t change the past or that his family couldn’t come back to life. they’re here, alive, but.... was it worth the pain to say hello and ask if they knew who he was. and to hear the possible no... it would break him.
afraid that he already caught her attention, ben slides the hood off his head, smiling at her, ❛❛ i don’t think it’s a good idea to give just buy anyone a drink around here, they’ll think you’re interested in them or something. i-i mean... nevermind. i’ll have a jogan juice. ❜❜ great way to start a conversation with your long, dead cousin, ben. and get with the times, she can probably take care of herself better than you can take care of yourself.
“I think I’d rather be tortured again than go through another conversation like that.”
“Me, too.”
“You seemed to take it well enough. Making me promise to kill you.”
“Only under certain circumstances. Not just because I insist you eat your vegetables.”
“If you start to feel evil, tell me as soon as possible. Don’t wait and cut my hand off first.”

“ You came. “ there’s a smile to her voice, a slight upward tilt to her lips. She wouldn’t admit to the way her heart fluttered, the way her stomach clenched the moment his force signature entered the premises, but she would give him the happy sparkle in her eye as she turned to look at him. Her ankles cross, legs hanging over the edge of the building as the night air lifts her shoelaces in the breeze. It’s the most teenager-ish she’s felt since…admittedly, she last saw him.
that’s a lie: she felt like a child in that interrogation room, the look of BETRAYAL on her brother’s face when she removed her mask, her heart caving, collapsing as reality set in.
but ben is a couple of feet away from her, looking just as lovely as he did the last time she saw him under the cover of night. part of her wants to march up to him, wants to kiss him and let him use her this time, just forget about the fucking DISASTER that had been the past couple of days, but that wouldn’t be fair. Not to him, who she thought might actually like her. she shouldn’t throw her bullshit onto the table during what she THOUGHT was a date (currently unclear)
“Are you just gonna stand there the entire night ??”
ben didn’t know if this was the best idea to meet up with eris when he was already an emotional mess. he had been fine with living with the knowledge that his father was alive ----- despite how much he had wanted to tell him, ben believed that it was probably for the best that he lived in ignorance. he didn’t want to become a burden or distract his father from what he was best at doing: saving the galaxy. on top of that, and what had truly caused him to come undone was his reunion with his mother. his mother. who had left him without a word of warning ---- he just woke up one day in his relative’s home, and she had never come back. he had even come to terms that his parents would never return ------ mentally prepared himself that he would hold the torch of the skywalker name. however, like some hope come true, there they were. physical and their force signature, true and natural, as if they had never died. he didn’t know whether to be thankful or afraid of what this could mean for the rest of the galaxy if this got into the wrong hands.
yet, he was here. here with eris. a girl who intrigued him, not simply because of the night they spent together under the sheets, but... he felt it in the force. the dark side resonated within her ----- which should have deterred ben from even spending more time with her, but he couldn’t help want to become closer to her. he was drawn to the girl as if he were an insect to a radiating light ---- but he never wanted her to stop pulling him in. ben knew the risk of becoming close to a dark side user, but her voice rings in his ears; filling him with sense of warmth and comfort.
ben smirks, taking a few more strides towards eris before taking a seat right next to her. he wasn’t wearing the cloak he normally would have worn out, remaining in a casual attire for this occasion. a brown leather jacket, a white v-neck t-shirt that was tucked into the jeans he was wearing, with the plain solid white chucks outlined with threads of blue and red. ❛❛ of course i came. d’aww, did you miss me that much, eris?~ i told you not to fall for me ------ but i guess you just couldn’t stop yourself. it’s alright, i’ve been told that i’m extremely charming. ❜❜ he teases, keeping his hands folded neatly on his lap, not knowing if she was exactly up for him to show her any type of affection or skinship.
jadedpersuasion:
She’d done it, that stupid heroic thing that Mara found so incredibly pathetic. She’d stepped in the way of danger, risking her own life for that of another. Without even the slightest of hesitation. It was by far the most out of character thing she’d done in her entire life. At least, the life she could remember.
There had been another Mara in another life, that had clearly done things she could not begin to understand. She pushed the thoughts that poisoned her mind as far away as she could, for concentrating on the here and now was life and death.
Bury it. Bury it so deep.
And then, the boy had risked his own life for hers. Not even risked, practically offered it freely. He was reckless, and he was going to get them both killed if he didn’t start listening to her. Mara had heard that love makes you do crazy things, and clearly- that was very painfully, inconveniently true.
“Stop calling me that…” She growled at him, turning to look at the boy she was leaning on for support. His hair had an undeniably auburn sheen in the harsh lighting of the hallway. Not comforting. His eyes, they were not green like hers- but there was something familiar about them. She just….couldn’t place it.
“Look, you have to leave me here. I have a way out of here, but I can’t take you with me. It has to be…” She groaned briefly as she broke away from him to lean against the wall in a cutout along the side, away from the hallway foot traffic. “…..Just me.” She glared at him, already realizing that he was going to put up a fight. “I’m just grazed..” She glanced at her leg, the fabric of her pants blazed away, but the wound’s severity ambiguous. “Kid, you still got a job to do- right?” It was the only thing she could think of, to get his mind off of her and back to whatever it was he came here for.
“Take this.” She reached for her thigh holster and handed him her holdout blaster, her very favorite weapon. The same one she’d had since she was the Emporer’s hand, dug up from god knows where upon her revival, but it was one and the same. The initials “MJ” carved into the side. “Take good care of her for me.” She smiled a little, and urged him onward.
time seemed to faster than the mental processing of his mind. his focus was shaken; tears still streaming down his face while he kept his arm firmly around the woman’s waist to try and carry her. where? he had no clue, but he could only hope somewhere safe. safer than here ------- truly he felt more lost than he’s ever been, far more than before he joined the resistance though less than when his parents had passed away. he had little strength in his small frame, most of his muscle coming from the constant running he does, but never did it require for him to carry heavier things.
he heard and felt the woman break away from him, but of course, ben struggled to keep her there until she was leaning against the wall. she spoke of the mission he needed to accomplish, but he... he couldn’t... not when mom was right here. his mom. asking him to leave her. he couldn’t even speak, there were just frustrated sobs that he was made as she reached out to him with a blaster in his hand. her blaster. ben had known how much it meant to her, remembering the stories she told him when he was a child. the gesture had only made him choke on the tears ------- she was entrusting him with something as precious as her personal blaster. to someone, she didn’t know, yet trusted him enough to do something like this.
without hesitation or qualms, ben throws himself around mara -------- embracing her tightly, fearful of letting go. ❛❛ i-i’ll c-come back for y-you... i promise... i promise i’ll save you this time... ❜❜ he says as he nuzzles her neck, trying not to cry as he has been through their whole time together. she was here... she was alive and physical ------ not a phantom ghost in his dreams, but truly here. ❛❛ get somewhere safe... please... i... i know you can make it through. ❜❜ as he says this, he slips her blaster back into her hands. ❛❛ i know we’ll meet again, mom... the force... it will bring us together again ----- trust it. trust me. like you trusted me. besides, we’re kind of the same ------- we’re survivors. ❜❜ ben is sniffling, rubbing his face when he pulls away from her with a tear-streaked yet hopeful smile, he holds the hilt of his saber firmly in his hand. with an affirming nod, ben starts to run in the opposite direction of his mother, though heavy with emotions ----- he was far more certain than before. he would complete his mission and find a way to save her.
jadedpersuasion:
It hadn’t even occurred to Mara that the boy might not obey her command. Running from a fight was one thing, but to run towards the danger to protect the life of someone you don’t even know was another story entirely. Who was he? Where on earth would he have learned to be so…..reckless?
It was not lost on Mara that she of course, was no stranger to him at all. He not only knew her, but loved her. Enough to sacrifice himself for her without hesitation. There was no time to ruminate on the subject, lives were at stake. Whoever he was, she wasn’t about to let him go. Not after what she’d felt. There just was no going back now.
She just had to keep herself from blacking out. Just a little bit longer. The pain from the burn was excruciating, but Mara refused to late it take hold. Captain Jethro hesitated, clearly surprised at the boy’s refusal to run. Ben had stood his ground, and in that fraction of a second- Mara had plenty of time to blast their adversary right between his eyes. Jethro’s lifeless body crumpled to the ground, and Mara went down as well. The adrenaline keeping her conscious and upright finally wearing off.
“I told you….to run…” She growled at the defiant child, though somewhere inside her- she was grateful. “Are you insane? What were you thinking?” She hissed, the pain in her leg reaching an all time high.
he wasn’t afraid; even if he were to fall here, ben had no qualms to fighting for his mother. he wouldn’t allow for her to sacrifice herself ---- not when there was so much he needed to say... she may not remember him, but he was willing to protect her without any hesitation ------ his family was always worth it.
however, he didn’t react in time to take the opportunity of the startled captain; instead, a shot to the head was enough to have the man fall with a heavy thud that echoed through the empty area they were occupying. he didn’t realize that he had his breath hitched until he deactivated his lightsaber, letting himself finally exhale. upon turning his head around though, he saw mara falling on the ground.
❛❛ mom?! ❜❜ immediately, ben was at her side, grabbing her arm to wrap around his shoulders to keep her upright. panic began to set in the young man’s mind afraid that she would bleed out or that she would pass out when they were so far into the base that he wasn’t even sure if there was somewhere safe near here. however, her questions had made his heartache, guilty that he didn’t do as he was told; it wasn’t that he couldn’t do it but ben refused to leave her behind. even if it meant that he would get hurt as well saving her.
❛❛ i couldn’t just leave you here, not when you got injured because of me... ❜❜ he chokes up on the memories that flashed in his mind ----- watching his mother take off in her ship, left with his remaining family; and she never came back home. her soul leaving the physical existence and with the force... ❛❛ be mad all you want, but i’m not going to apologize for trying to save my mom... not after i lost you and everyone else... ❜❜

Mara stood in silence, stunned by the boy’s reaction. She watched, expressionless as the tears formed in his eyes- unable to understand what was happening, only that they were having two very different conversations.
This boy, so familiar and yet a complete stranger. He reminded her of someone, but who? It lingered on the peripherals of her consciousness, taunting her with it’s mystery. Was that all it was? Simply that he looked like someone she knew?
No, he knew her. She felt him reach out to her through the force, clumsily grabbing at her presence through his scattered emotions. She could not block him completely, her abilities lacking where his clearly flourished. With a gasp, her eyes widened- feeling something from this indecipherable being that she had never felt before in her entire life. It felt like warmth, and safety. An unconditional sort of acceptance. Hope and admiration. A need for her that she didn’t understand.
This feeling….was it….love?
She always wondered what it felt like, and as the hot, stinging tears began to form in her own eyes - for half a moment she began to understand why everyone made such a big deal about it. Nothing had ever felt that powerful before, nothing that warm or soothing. That deep, aching hollow place inside her starting to fill up for the very first time. Mara almost reached her hand out for his, but something broke her connection- something….coming from around the corner.
“Get down!” she whispered- there was no time for them to run, they’d be fish in a barrel for sure. Mara threw herself around Ben, covering as much of him as she could with her slight frame as they crouched behind the wall. She closed her eyes tightly, centering herself to the best of her ability. She’d only heard about force users being able to cloak themselves from visibility. It was a long shot, but they didn’t have any other options at this time.
Mara sensed him, Captain Jethro of batch nine. He was a particularly cruel, sadistic specimen- and she hoped her nervousness wasn’t causing her shield to waver. The captain past them, and Mara held her breath. He stopped a few feet away, glancing around as though he knew something was wrong- but continued on his way regardless. Mara caught Ben’s eye and pointed out the walkway, signaling for them to make a run for it. She counted to three on her fingers, and lunged both of them forward with all of her strength.
“TRAITOR!” The captain had spotted them, and was fast on their heels. The blaster shots were rapid, and Mara reached for own weapon to retaliate- just long enough to take a hit to the leg. She stopped, wounded, crouching behind a charging station - but continued to fire back at the assailant in a blind rage. “RUN!” She called to Ben, and the severity of her gaze meant business.
his vision was distorted from the tears that kept his eyes glossy and unable to get a good look at the woman who was just standing here. what did he expect from this when he called out to her? when she was practically a stranger as he was to her? it was no different than shouting into the ether---- hoping that it would return his shout.
unbeknownst to the young padawan, his emotions were being shared to mara through the force. the grief, his loneliness, his long-held love and hope for his parents. he places a hand on his chest, clenching at the clothes he wore--- sobbing when he couldn’t handle it. ben was far from returning back to the young man who had just accepted his fate of living on for those who couldn’t. he was spiraling down into a newfound grief until he heard his mother mutter something he couldn’t quite hear----
suddenly, a warm body had enveloped him. he gasped, nearly falling down if it weren’t for his quick grip onto the woman who was now holding him. he was trembling in her hold, choking on the tears that he wanted to release. but he heard the heavy footsteps of an individual that had past by them. intimidating and powerful from what ben could sense. surely a fellow that wasn’t to be underestimated. and he followed mara’s lead---- keeping his breathing shallow, and eyes shut until he opened his eyes to see that was signaling for them to break for their escape.
everything was moving so fast that ben couldn’t completely figure out what was happening. he sprinted when mara counted down to the last second, the sound of blasters ringing in his ears, the sight of mara wounded and screaming at him to run------ truly, the young man felt like a boy again. fearful of everything that was occurring. he takes double takes from the man who was on their tails to mara. his mother. he was a stranger to her--- yet she was protecting him.
captain jethro only a few meters away from the pair, and ben could only do what he knew best. he reached for the hilt of his lightsaber that was latched onto his belt----- pressing it to life where it hummed smoothly, a familiar sound he knew too well. still, the captain stood there, shouting words that were not meant for him but for his mother.
❛❛ if you want her, you have to get through me, metal head!! ❜❜
he won’t lose his family----- not again.

VOLUMNIA: Describe the biggest sacrifice you’ve made.
VOLUMNIA: Describe the biggest sacrifice you’ve made.
❛❛ the biggest sacrifice i’ve made… probably is my livelihood. i carry a surname that has become the beacon of hope for the universe—– skywalker. i never really had the chance to live out my life like a child, i was trained under my cousin for a long period of time, i had very few friends growing up— and though my parents tried to give me a normal life, the force had other plans. it… was hard. hard growing up under a tall and intimidating shadow, and eventually that torch being passed onto me. kinda wish i joined a boy scout’s instead. ❜❜
OPHELIA: Is there anything you regret not doing?
OPHELIA: Is there anything you regret not doing?
he begins to think back over his life, however no matter what he tried to find out any regrets of things that he hasn’t done—- there wasn’t a very long list. there was a far longer list of things he regretted doing rather than the vice versa. ❛❛ i guess one of the things i regret not doing was getting over the fact that my parents weren’t coming back… i spent a lot of time grieving and hoping they would come back for me, but that never came to be. there are some regrets that i didn’t seek out more training for my force training, however—- my master kind of… fell off his rocker when i was under his teachings, so i’ve just been going by what i knew— also figured out other ways to protect myself when i had no other options on the table. ❜❜
CELIA: Do you want to fall in love?
CELIA: Do you want to fall in love?
❛❛ i think everyone wants to fall in love eventually. i’m not gonna deny that i… may want to fall in love with someone— but i’m not seeking for it. though, i’m really interested in a particular girl right now… she’s… like no one i’ve ever met before— i know that’s corny, but seriously she is the coolest girl— i saw her kick a guy’s ass at the bar, and like that she—– oh, uh… w-what was the question again? ❜❜
MACBETH
MACBETH: Have you ever killed anyone? Would you?
❛❛ i’ve never killed anyone, injured yes, but never killed. ❜❜ the first question was easier to answer—– then again he wasn’t too sure if he had killed someone… battles were fast paced and he carried a lightsaber, a weapon that can cut through mostly anything— anyone. the second question was… harder to answer right away. it was a heavy thought, and he preferred to keep himself away from the dark thoughts he’s had about… hurting another person.❛❛ under circumstances against my family, then… i wouldn’t hesitate to protect them. ❜❜ as uncomfortable as he was with the revival program… with those who’ve been brought back to life—– he wouldn’t lose them again.
jadedpersuasion:
Mara continued to stare at the boy, trying to figure him out. Why was he looking at her that way? Why did it seem like he….knew her? What were these phantom tendrils prodding at her from somewhere in the force, almost making her believe that she knew him too, somehow?
Her shields were strong, but this…kid was stronger somehow. She felt his grief, his pain, hislonging for her. But how could he possibly know her? He looked to be in his late teens, and clearly he was here with the resistance- not exactly her usual kind of companion. In truth, Mara knew there was much about her former life that she had no idea about- but having some kind of relationship with this kid? That was a little far-fetched even for her standards.
Mom. He’d said it again. What kind of game was he playing at, here?
“Why do you keep calling me that?” She took a step backwards, away from him and his overpowering force presence. “You really expect me to believe, I look like….your mother?” Mara laughed a little, saying it out loud was simply…comical. “You look a little young to be dipping in the starshine, kid.” But it had to be that he was drunk, or crazy. Why would they bring someone like that along? Mara knew the resistance was desperate, but this was justsad.
He didn’t back down, however. Mara’s smile faded as the boy reached out his hand to her, and it caused her to take another step backwards. He’d said his name was Ben, and she felt the hope inside him increase, expecting her to recognize it. It echoed inside her, somewhere hollow- a little too empty. A chasm she had not experienced before…and it terrified her.
“Look, I’m not gonna hurt you- but you’d better get out of here before someone else finds you.” She didn’t know what he wanted from her, but she wasn’t about to stick around and find out. This situation was a little too strange for her taste, and Mara had a high tolerance for the unusual.
for ben, his emotions were in disarray even though he was trying so hard to keep himself together. he didn’t even realize how heavy his breathing was when he focused on it, mentally counting as the young man inhales... then exhales. repeat. his thought process was in chaos---- spiralling with numerous thoughts that were mostly fleeting, while others were far more emphasized.
the way her red hair shone under red fluorescent lights, the brilliant green of her irises, even her voice-- though it was sharp and far colder, there was no denying that she was ben’s mother. even if he wanted to play it off, he couldn’t. he felt like he reverted back to a younger age where he was vulnerable---- susceptible to the hurt and loneliness he had tried to bury deep so he could move on. how could this happen? how was this happening? what was the motive of bringing back dead heroes? did not consider what could happen if someone decided to do this to force---- bringing them back to life? as much as he was relieved... he felt a new wave of suffering start to settle in his mind and body.
what was the use of reviving someone when they wouldn’t remember anything like their own son? his vision blurred as her questions pierced his heart metaphorically------ even pushing him away was far too much for ben to handle that he was starting to stumble in his step, almost falling into the gap between the metal bridge and railings. he holds onto it for dear life, feeling his sobs and tears start to escape him as he shakes his head in frustration and grief. how long has it been since he cried? grieved? there was never a moment to grieve when he was constantly on the move from one family member to another. each one picked off like leaves from a tree. until he was the stray leaf that clung to the tree---- strong yet holding the weight of a legacy he needed to live up to no matter what.
he couldn’t say anything to mara, not like this. not when he was incoherent and broken----- not when his mother couldn’t remember who he was. she was no better than a stranger to him, and he to her. ben pushes himself off the railings, sniffling as he tries to stand straight---- facing her head on.
❛❛ i-i’m not moving. i-if you want to get rid of me... come at me then. we’re enemies, right? ❜❜
