The sweet aroma of lavender spread across the house you and Jeongin called home. With the sun having set hours ago, the only light in the house was the flickering, dim glow of candles. You sat comfortably on the living room couch, your back resting against the armrest. The only sound was the quiet rustle of smooth paper under your fingers as you turned the pages of your book.
The click of the front door followed by the sound of shoes being taken off awoke you from your thoughts.
Soon after, an exhausted-looking Jeongin walked into the living room. Hearing his footsteps suddenly stop, you turned your head toward the doorframe.
You could hear the amusement in Jeongin's voice. You smiled a little while trying to hide a yawn.
You set the book down on the table and started walking toward your boyfriend.
Jeongin didn’t know whether to be happy or sad. After weeks of not being able to spend time together, he was more than happy to see his beloved girlfriend. At the same time, he felt terrible that you had to sacrifice your own sleep just to see him.
You wrapped your arms around Jeongin's neck. He hugged you even tighter around the waist while burying his head in your neck, smelling the shampoo you had used earlier.
Despite not wanting to let go, you created just enough space between the two of you to look into his eyes. Jeongin made the move to close the distance again, this time capturing your lips in a slow and tender kiss.
Your hands found their way into Jeongin's hair, which was still a little damp from late-night dance practice. He pulled you closer, deepening the kiss. His hands wandered under your shirt, one settling on your hip and the other on your back.
After a while, you pulled back from the kiss to catch your breath.
“I missed you,” Jeongin whispered, just loud enough for you to hear.
You caught a small smile on Jeongin's lips.
“So… how have you been holding up with the comeback?”
Jeongin's head fell back with a groan escaping his lips.
“Can’t I just enjoy the little time I have with my girlfriend without having to think about it?”
A laugh escaped your mouth as you looked at him.
“Okay, okay. Let’s not talk about it tonight. What do you want to talk about then?”
“I want to lay my head on your stomach while you play with my hair and tell me what you’ve been up to these days.”
You gave a peck to Jeongin's nose, grabbed his hand, and started walking toward the couch. You lay on your back and opened your arms.
With a smile on his face, hair sticking out in every direction, and shoulders slouched, he looked like a little kid.
A giggle escaped his lips as he fell onto his stomach, careful not to crush you completely.
His hands wrapped around your torso, his head falling to rest on your stomach. You could feel his fingers starting to draw circles on your side.
“Tell me about your day,” Jeongin mumbled into your shirt.
You started playing with his hair, your fingers moving a couple of strands out of his face.
“But I didn’t do anything special.”
“I want to hear every little detail. Like, what did you eat for breakfast? Did you take a nap? I just want to hear your voice.”
Your heart melted a little. That same man whose job was to perform on stage in front of thousands of people was now laying on top of you, desperate to hear about your very ordinary day.
You said, beginning to go through your day—from the moment you were woken up by some kids yelling on the street, to spilling coffee all over the kitchen while trying to take an aesthetic photo, and finally picking up the book you’ve been wanting to read while waiting for your boyfriend to come home.
