The life of a realtor is certainly a busy one. Built on utilizing marketing strategies, having excellent communication skills, and staying on top of important laws and documents the job can become overwhelming. There may come a point when hiring an assistant is necessary. If your profession is suffering because of too many responsibilities there are some things to consider when thinking about hiring an assistant.
The first thing to consider is, by having an assistant will you be able to sell more houses more effectively? If the answer is yes than hiring a capable assistant should be at the top of your priority. If by hiring an assistant you can absolve the cost having an assistant, and make more money than it is worth the cost. Understanding that you need an assistant is an easy realization, but making it happen is a different matter.
The first step to hiring a personal assistant is to talk to your superior if you work for a realty company. Express your reasons for needing help, and ask if there is any way that this could happen. Obviously if he or she says no than this will not be an option. If you work for yourself however, than the first step will be to consider what jobs your assistant will be responsible for. What tasks require the least amount of skill, but take time out of your day? These jobs could be answering e-mails, setting up appointments, posting on social media sites for marketing reasons, and doing paperwork. Once your assistant has been around for a while they could even set up houses that are being shown before you get there, or even work with you to find possible clients.
The next question to ask is what type of qualifications will you require your assistant to have? Consider what skills are important to the type of work that you do, and what area’s you need help in the most. In real estate communication skills are necessary to having good experiences with clients. Simply put, if people like you than they will want to buy from you. An assistant in realty should be able to actively engage with possible clients in a productive manner. Relators must also be organized, and have excellent time management. Scheduling should be an important part of the qualifications that are set for a future realtor assistant. Have a clear vision of what qualifications work best for you, and do your best to find someone who fits that vision.
Interviewing a wide variety of applicants can help you find the perfect fit for your company, and allow you to discover possible characteristics that you never considered valuable, but could be an asset to your team. The next thing to consider is having a clear understanding of your budget, and how much you can pay the allotted person. In the interview process be clear about the pay rate, and the expectations that you have.
