Bare with us!
We are working hard to provide all you shady people and groups a tool to use to add to your rp experience. It will take some time!!
Lore of The Slaughtered Lamb
((And plausible lore for the sake of the rp community))
The Haven to the Malcontent
Before I share the IC/RP part of this, I would like to first share some OC lore with you as well as some thoughts for how -most- people who rp in the pub view the area.
The Slaughtered Lamb[42.2, 81.8] is a seedy pub in the Mage Quarter of Stormwind City. The pub’s basement and catacombs serve as host to the city’s warlock community and acts as a training ground for new recruits.
The top floor is abandoned except for a bartender. Given the pub’s name, it seems like the perfect place for warlocks to do their training. Wiki link
Jarel Moor is a level 30 drink vendor located in the Slaughtered Lamb in the Mage Quarter, in the human capital city of Stormwind City.
He advises patrons to “stay away from the shadows”, which can’t be good for business… Wiki link
First and foremost, the Slaughtered Lamb is NOT a public pub like the Blue Recluse. People seem to think because there is no door that it is open to everyone lore-wise. NOPE. It is a game mechanic to allow -you- the player to know that you can go inside. Lore wise the tavern was a front for what was happening in the basement (During BC when warlocks and their demons were killed on sight) Which of course is two-fold. The warlock training and research facility as well as the crypts which has an active summoning circle that is directly linked to the twisting nether.
After BC, Warlocks, especially those associated with the Slaughtered Lamb, were heralded as heroes who fought fire with fire. Warlocks ( like Death Knights) were given sanctuary under the King’s command. Freedom to continue their research and teaching of new potential warlocks. The Slaughtered Lamb is then viewed as their haven, behind closed doors. Within the walls of the Slaughtered Lamb, those of the dark arts or shadier dealings are free to be themselves without judgement. Demons and all. Even Jarel warns people to stay away from the shadows because the place is not for the faint of heart. Side note: This doesn’t mean warlocks can walk around the city openly with a demon. It’s still a demon.
Second, Guards would not be called within the Slaughtered Lamb for what is going on in there. If it wasn’t a sanctioned area under the King, it wouldn’t exist within the City, you would have to go outside to find it. There are also -NO- guards outside of the tavern. Instead, the Illidari have been given the area just outside the tavern, having little care for what goes on around them. Perhaps a further indication that the misfits are pushed to the corner of the city? Or maybe more so that the Illidari have a great vantage point to overlook the harbor, able to call upon the warlocks and misfits of the Lamb to defend the city as soon as someone or something arrives at the harbor?
Unlike the Mage quarter around the Blue Recluse that has multiple guards walking around constantly.
There is one patrol guard that is a story within himself, but this patrol walks by the tavern. Now as I stated before the door is closed to the public, so its not as if he would see anything anyways, but there is also the strange little fact that this particular guard has a rather interesting relationship with warlock shopkeeper just up the street. He goes there talks a little to the lady before he jumps off the walkway to the ground below. Personally, I think this guard knows the deal.
((Scandal in the guards??? Probably not but don’t crush my dreams lol ))
Now all that being said, would the King and Guards ignore rumors of murders, people going missing and misdeeds within the Slaughtered Lamb above and beyond the dark and shady things expected? Short answer, no. However it would be expected that to arrest someone in the Lamb, someone would need permission from the Cathedral’s High Inquisitor as well as potentially the King himself. Let’s keep in mind that no one really knows what is going on in the Slaughtered Lamb, and most likely would ignore more rumours just based on that.
Lastly, The Slaughtered Lamb is considered abandoned, save Jarel who just barkeeps.
The IC ‘Rules’ of The Slaughtered Lamb and current Rp hub going ons will be coming soon. Hope to see you there.
