Second Life adventures of a lone wolf

The Eden Naturist Estate is transforming! Today I have finished building a Caribbean villa in Eden Eagle sim to replace the old apartment block.

The villa has three two-floor apartments, each of which is standing on its own private parcel, with visibility, sounds and voice confined to the walls of each dwelling. Each apartments comes with a private mooring berth.

The southern windows of the villa are facing the North Sea - the hub of Eden's sailing activity.

Happy New Year to you all! It's been quite some time since my last post, but I haven't been slacking away! Do you remember the WZW fishing area I put in Eden Gateway sim?

Now I have built The Eden Gateway Estate - a terrace of four colonial houses at the very entrance to Eden - a very popular location! Each house sits on an individual parcel of land with visibility, sounds and voice restricted to it, so the residents can have some privacy.

With houses come private gardens with a green lawn in the middle of a tropical beach and a private mooring berth. And, of course, the fishing lake is just next door - a perfect retreat for a busy soul!

We already have a WZW sea fish area in EYBC. Now I've been working on a WZW lake in the main Eden's entrance sim - Eden Gateway - featuring fresh water fish. I have also put some moorings for our keen fishermen who will be welcome to moor their dinghies in this area, place fishing tents and set up their gear and tackle for some serious overnight fishing.

Remember, if you release the caught fish back in the lake, it'll get a chance to grow into a shark (probably)!

Welcome to the Winter Wonderland in The Eden Naturist Estate somewhere near the North Pole! Rudolph is being groomed by Santa's helper for his first Christmas ride, and some Edennauts were eager to put their skates on and test the rink complimented by cheerful Christmas tunes! And yes, it is snowing in Eden now, but that strategically placed red sock keeps me warm!

There has been a long break since my last post: I have been busy redeveloping the EYBC (Eden Yacht and Boat Club) Marina.

Due to its immense popularity, the EYBC Marina has always been full and there has been a long waiting list for boat slips. Thus I have decided to rebuild it and put the empty beach space to a better use.

The old, disused EYBC HQ has been demolished and will be rebuilt closer to the regatta location - The North Sea (more on this later!). I have put more boat slips that now accommodate various prim allowance and match the needs of a much wider variety of sailors, from Optimist class to luxury 90ft mesh cruisers.

Each section of the marina features a gathering place with complimentary snack and drink vendors. All sections are interconnected with publicly operated gates and a bridge.

Good news for the WZW fishermen: WZW has returned to the marina with a wider selection of fishing gear in their new shack and more fish in the surrounding waters, with a promise of hours of realistic fishing fun.

I have added some more affordable cabins in the picturesque Backwater Bay in Skeezits, Nautilus. Each comes with a flexible prim allowance, a private berth and individual land settings designed for additional privacy.

A couple of new cabins open their doors to residents in the picturesque village of Skeezits in BrendaRex estate.

Keen fishermen, rejoice! WZW fishing system has come to BrendaRex! There will be two fishing areas in Backwater area; and the first one is a fresh water lake in south-west Skeezits. Watch this space for the second fishing area! A WZW gear shack is conveniently located between the two lakes.

This is still work in progress, but in a matter of days Ploughman and Skeezits will take their proud place in Home Harbour estate and welcome new residents. All villas come with private berths and 1000+ prims. There is a fresh water pond where you can catch WZW fish and a new EYBC club outpost in Woodfall. Watch this space!

I have started working on a new sim in Home Harbour: Woodfall. Whilst Moobthunb is an attempt to depict a fantasy version of a seaside town, Woodfall will represent a combination of a stone quay that houses a marina for a future sailing club and a collection of beach huts accompanied by mooring berths for smaller boats.

Woodfall is a transitional sim between a seaside stone-built town and a beach paradise with luxury secluded villas and a private lagoon that will be built on two further sims.

I am very excited about the latest addition to my boat park: Boss Craft 225 by Analyse Dean. The boat is based on a Chris Craft from 1960s. The vessel is a compilation of the best features of SL motor boats:

it is powered by the best in SL Dutch’s Boss engine;

boat fenders are independently rezzable on starboard and port sides;

the captain and passenger avatars automatically change poses depending on the boat speed;

there are working navigation lights, fender and fuel storage;

retexturable club burgee and ensign;

realistic fuel system;

working retro radio with an editable playlist notecard;

retractable engine.

I fell in love with the boat immediately and was surprised by a unique reverse movement camera that comes as an invaluable aid during mooring the boat.

Also worth mentioning is a cockpit cover that can be pulled over the moored boat without the captain sitting in the boat, which adds to the realism of the boat handling.

Hooray! It is time for a short break, for I have concluded the construction of houses for the Home Harbour village. You can also see a park in the middle of the village square. I am yet to furnish it with benches, flower beds and picnic blankets for my new residents to relax. More to follow!

I have been managing The Eden Naturist Estate for over a month now, and all this time I have been teleporting to various places that needed my attention.

Eden is a vast sailable estate, for it is considered unthinkable to live in this beautiful part of SL and not actually sail in it. Thus I have put aside half hour and allowed myself to fully appreciate the beauty of the oceanic view and embrace the elements.

No fiberglass hull, nor aluminium spars: nothing can add more to the authentic atmosphere of sailing than varnished wood and brass bearings of a Trudeau Patchogue II (an SL replica of Gilbert Smith's Lucille).

I enjoyed a relaxing afternoon on the Eden Naturist Estate's surfing sim today. Now it is time for me to put a hard hat on and return to the building site.

Fresh from Dengo's building site comes a new Georgian mini-terraced house and takes a proud place in the Home Harbour. Two semi-detached houses comprise three floors, separate entrances and beautiful hedged back gardens.

There are still spaces left in the adjacent marina with direct access to Blake Sea!
