my pre-columbian miis and the art they were based on
#Hey OP#Any chance you’ve got sources for those images#I think I might’ve worked with one of these a while ago#But not sure
@my-dress-is-on-fire sure thing!
in the order they appear:
1- Greater Nicoya figure from AD 800–1350, found near Rivas, Nicaragua. Photographed by Ernest Amoroso. in 2014 was part of the National Museum of the American Indian's collection
2- Upon looking up a source, I've learned this piece actually isn't ancient art (which makes sense this was one I found unlabeled in a presentation and couldnt get a clear bead on at the time) but done by contemporary Nicaraguan artisan, Gregorio Bracamonte, who worked in a revival of the Nicoya style before passing in 2019. While Gregorio looked to ancient art in books & museums for reference and apparently sometimes did replicas, I don't have enough information on this piece to know what he was pulling from.
3- Chorotega basalt figure from AD 800-1200 on Ometepe Island in Nicaragua, tourist photo
4- Chorotega basalt figure from AD 800-1200 on Zapatera Island in Nicaragua, illustration of piece from La isla-santuario de Zapatera y sus estatuas con alter ego by Jorge Eduardo Arellano
5- Nazca figure from 200 BC–AD 600 found in Peru. In 1999 was part of Museum zu Allerheiligen's collection
6- Nazca figure from 200 BC-AD 600 found in Peru. Part of the collection at Regional Museum of Ica Adolfo Bermúdez Jenkins
