From a typical Sicilian Italian family, destitute yet devoutly faithful, Schneider is the youngest child in the family. After immigrating to Chicago, she adapted well here, running the gang and dabbling in gray-market dealings, leading her parents and twelve older sisters out of poverty.
Feathers of responsibility, sin, and freedom are pinned one by one onto her dress, and beneath them wraps a light, unfettered, free spirit.

Behind-the-Scenes Perspective
Through Schneider, who started out as a "flapper," we tried to recreate that group of young women from the Roaring Twenties in the West who pursued individuality and independence, casting off society's rigid discipline. They were fond of androgynous short hair and wore clothing that was both alluring and playful, defying restraint and constraint, indifferent to everything around them. (Well, distinctive enough, and captivating bad girls!)
Being a flapper is part of Schneider, and it's what shaped the Schneider of Chicago. But our girl obviously wasn't born in Chicago; she came from the orange groves of Sicily, a poor, simple stretch of countryside.
We were all certain that the future Schneider would become a mysterious hired killer, or the head of a gang, someone capable of raising a gun, willing to shield her sisters and parents behind her. But before all that, she was still only the youngest child in the family.
Only after uncovering these traits that belong to her alone did this somewhat precocious "flapper" finally step onto our stage.
Remember her—right now you're probably reaching out, just as we did, trying to grasp this light feather rising amid a young and rebellious fashion trend.
