Seth grimaced slightly as Cethleann rightfully reprimanded him. “I hadn’t meant to interfere,” he replied honestly. There was no point trying to deny what had happened. Even if he had wanted to lie to her she surely would have seen right through him. “He came into the store and I had seen you two and… his reputation does precede him,” he sheepishly explained. He knew full well that Cethleann was an adult and was more than capable of protecting herself but he couldn’t help worrying regardless. It wasn’t fair to impose it upon her but he nonetheless could not avoid an ever present fear that something terrible was only ever a moment away from causing him to lose her, and while he tried with all his might to keep a lid on his more over protective qualities inevitably he would occasionally slip. “I’m sorry, Cethleann.”
Her anger deflates just as quickly as it had flared up at the apology. Despite everything, he really is a good father, and she can’t keep being mad at him if he knows that what he did was wrong.
Besides, even though he doesn’t know where his fear of losing her comes from, she does. And she can’t really fault him for that - her blood may not be so useful in such a peaceful town, but they’ve become accustomed to him being the protector and her being protected. Maybe it’s his memories beginning to surface - or maybe that’s her wishful thinking. She sighs.
❝ I had it under control. I was just in the middle of telling him not to try anything, in fact. Please let me reiterate: I can take care of myself. ❞
❝ That said, I do forgive you. All I ask is that you place a bit more trust in me. I promise, if trouble does arise, I will tell you. ❞
She opens her arms slightly, a silent request for a hug - and a reconciliation.
