Finally managed to get photoshop to not crash constantly on my old iMac… trying to get the old hand in. My old man Charr from GW2, for practise… if I opened small portrait type commissions in this sort of style (rough painterly, flat colour bg), would anyone be interested? The characters can be non-humanoid if you want & if you want them in a specific style of another picture of mine I can do that too.
I can always work out if there’s another type of piece you would like such as icons etc!

Vural’s place, too... he hangs out near the Grand Sahil Casino in Amnoon, in one of those... little open triangular abodes you see on the sides of the larger structures? I’m not sure what you’d call those? but yeah
A - Trusty Hammock - He has pillows piled under for when he falls out sometimes... he probably spends a lot of time here sitting and reading, like a nerd
B - Stash - He keeps most of his ill-gotten gains (he robbed the arcane council once WHOOPS) in Amnoon’s bank but he has an emergency cache under his bedding in case he has to pick up and leave at short notice. It hasn’t happened yet but you Never Know, especially with all these new tourists coming in right
C - Seedlings - A small hobby, he likes to try and grow native plants to Metrica Province, though they often don’t fare too well in Elona’s climate
D - Firepit - Thats What It Is. probably standard to any little elonian rooftop abode. It’s also probably good on cold nights to keep the coals glowing, with a covering over the open wall to block the wind. He only has one plate, glass etc, as he never has visitors
E - Willie - The dog gets the thickest, squishiest pillow.. clearly this is to keep him at Top Performance when hes on duty. Clearly. He probably loses all his toys over the edge of the pyramid and Vural has to get him new ones
F - Litter Box - a work in progress for Willie
G - Bounties - Both for monsters and for criminals, when the opportunity arises. He tends to run a few at a time to account for being beaten to the kill, since bounty hunting is so lucrative
H - The View - he’s an old man that just enjoys the view and watching life go by, tbh... and snooping in on other peoples lives, hence the binoculars. Not for any personal gain, mind, he’s just nosy
I like thinking about spaces characters hang in, so here is Maelrose’s body shop... which needs a dorky pun name at some point. she does hair/nails/horn detailing/claw acupuncture. more detail under the cut if youre even interested
I feel like Rose has a lot of feelings about the like... innate machismo of Charr culture, like she could probably get Big Political if she wanted to but it’d be a hard topic to broach, even to (perhaps especially to) other female Charr... tho her shop is less about femininity and more about overall self care and expression-- she probably still does a LOT of macho hairstyling/etc for instance for regular customers. It’s probably in some awkward tiny corner of the trade square in the Black Citadel...

B - Hair and Nail area - Since charr are really big she can probably only fit a few chairs into a large space, since she also has to think about the size of the stylists, so she combined both areas to make do.
C - Bead Curtain - probably scavenged from glass leftovers down by the forges. I imagine luxury items like bead curtains are hard to come by in charr society, so she probably made it herself. It’s... it could be better
D - Peircing and Horn Detailling - I imagine this includes things from just capping off a broken horn so that it’s not sensitive, to like... etching into horns or training them to grow into certain directions, etc. Probably the closest charr can get to tattoos, since they have so much fur. I had to cut away the wall here to make it visible BUT i cant decide if the wall would just be weird like that... maybe hang some more beads there or something, idk
E - Acupuncture and Massage - I imagine what she does isn’t ‘true’ acupuncture but like,done with the tips of very sharp claws into pressure points. She probably would want the space to be softer and more calming but rent is rough so its in a cramped little room and she just makes do
F - Publicity and Regulars - Being a small business, she is very proud whenever she makes it into any sort of publication, even negatively. They all end up on the Wall Of Fame, along with sketches of past customers and example styles

a lot of folkz are saying “wtf is this” so i will explain
if you were on tarnished coast before megaservers were a thing, there was this special welcome greeter waiting for you in the heart of the mists and his name was goo goo gaa gaa
he was a max height max build human with This array of facial features and the tiniest head possible and he was 99% OF THE TIME. ALWAYS. ALWAYS. just afking by the heart of the mists entrance portal right there to greet you
this caused a frenzy on TC. he became a meme! everybody loved our server regular, goo goo gaa gaa!
and so he Spread
other people started making similar alts either to AFK with the head boss himself or in his absence so as to ensure no one’s day was left without the presence of a goo goo gaa gaa or associate. people started to make other “meme shock” characters as well as you can see from this sylvari here. here’s goo goo gaa gaa with another server regular, Skinned Clown, who i’m pretty sure still actively plays the game:
also, while alts made by other people were in abundance, it’s worth nothing that the real live goo goo gaa gaa was not just a singular throwaway alt. the person who made him was dedicated. like, reALLY, REALLY DEDICATED:
you could occasionally see them out levelling their various goo goo gaa gaa troupe alts or afking in lions arch or whatever which was INFINITELY scarier and more jarring than witnessing them in the heart of the mists as goo goo gaa gaa was a walking liminal space and the mists were the only context in which he felt normal. i have friends who will literally tell stories about the actually terrifying times they saw this guy somewhere that WASNT the pvp lobby and the way they speak of it is with reverence for this legend
i don’t really know Where Are They Now? and whether they still play the game or not but on my closing note here i really wanna emphasize how prevalent and legendary this dude is. like this person afked on this alt constantly in the mists for what im pretty sure was MONTHS. TC was both beside themselves but also incredibly used to his presence. every time any of my friends entered the mists i’d hear via guild chat “yep, there he is again”. goo goo gaa gaa predated megaservers, the wardrobe, edge of the mists, and instanced living stories. he thrived during the time of pvp skins and transmutation stones and gw2 having an actual roleplay community. we joke about like, horses or bugged things being gw2 cryptids but goo goo gaa gaa is the one, true, original alpha cryptid of gw2 and absolutely always will be.
