Different anon here - I agree that Melissa hasn't received enough credit from fandom this season. Looking at her portrayal of Kara in S2 vs S1, for me she's managed to convey a subtle growth in the character as an adult dealing with life (particularly now Cat's not around) without losing any of the things that make Kara who she is. Melissa gives so much to the character and the show, she commits to every scene, and she deserves way more recognition for it.

Melissa has always been thoroughly underrated

Kevin Smith: Season 1 of “Supergirl”, the episode where you were exposed to manufactured Red Kryptonite. That was the episode where I lost my shit and I was like, I will follow that woman into hell. Because that should have been one of the dopiest episodes. Red K is always like, it makes me naughty. You know, it’s kind of a dopey storyline. But they managed to tell a really moving story where after you got knocked out, you wake up and your first thought after the Red K is out of your system is this, oh, my God, did I hurt anybody? And you see you hurt your sister and you break into these tears. And you apologize to your sister in the most authentic apology I’ve ever seen in my life. I went back to people in my life and was like you once apologized, it wasn’t good enough. So, right then and there, I was like, oh, my God, I want to go work there. And I’ve worked with you twice. (x)
