Kathleen Rowe, The Unruly Woman: Gender & The Genres of Laughter
âŠvoices in any culture that are not meant to be heard are perceived as loud when they do speak, regardless of their decibel level.
âThe Gender of Sound,â Glass, Irony and God, Anne Carson
Aristotle tells us that the high-pitched voice of the female is one evidence of her evil disposition, for creatures who are brave or just (like lions, bulls, roosters and the human male) have large deep voicesâŠ. High vocal pitch goes together with talkativeness to characterize a person who is deviant from or deficient in the masculine ideal of self-control. Women, catamites, eunuchs and androgynes fall into this category. Their sounds are bad to hear and make men uncomfortableâŠ. Putting a door on the female mouth has been an important project of patriarchal culture from antiquity to the present day. Its chief tactic is an ideological association of female sound with monstrosity, disorder and deathâŠ. Woman is that creature who puts the inside on the outside. By projections and leakages of all kindsâsomatic, vocal, emotional, sexualâfemales expose or expend what should be kept inâŠ. [As Plutarch comments,] ââŠshe should as modestly guard against exposing her voice to outsiders as she would guard against stripping off her clothes. For in her voice as she is blabbering away can be read her emotions, her character and her physical condition.â⊠Every sound we make is a bit of autobiography. It has a totally private interior yet its trajectory is public. A piece of inside projected to the outside. The censorship of such projections is a task of patriarchal culture that (as we have seen) divides humanity into two species: those who can censor themselves and those who cannotâŠ. It is an axiom of ancient Greek and Roman medical theory and anatomical discussion that a woman has two mouths. The orifice through which vocal activity takes place and the orifice through which sexual activity takes place are both denoted by the word stoma in Greek (os in Latin) with the addition of adverbs ano and kato to differentiate upper mouth from lower mouth. Both the vocal and the genital mouth are connected to the body by the neck (auchen in Greek, cervix in Latin). Both mouths provide access to a hollow cavity which is guarded by lips that are best kept closed.Â
âIntroduction: A Tarantella of Theory,â Sandra M. Gilbert in The Newly Born Woman, HĂ©lĂšne Cixous and Catherine ClĂ©ment
There is a voice crying in the wilderness, Catherine ClĂ©ment and HĂ©lĂšne Cixous sayâthe voice of a body dancing, laughing, shrieking, crying. Whose is it? It is, they say, the voice of a woman, newborn and yet archaic, a voice of milk and blood, a voice silenced but savage.
âNew World Order: The Screamâs a Good Weapon,â Sarah Nicole Prickett
The screamâs a good weaponâfast, concealed. Sometimes the only one weâve got. When babes imperiled are furthermore mute, like Helen in The Spiral Staircase (1949), Madeline in the Swedish Thriller (1973), and Thana in Ms. 45 (1981), or speechless, like Catherine Deneuve in Repulsion (1965), the situation feels irremediable. A girl without tongue is a eunuch.

A visit from the Krampus
These are the kind of snouts legends are made of- the profound protrusions of the duck-bill hylid frog [also known as the Mexican shovel-headed tree frog; Diaglena spatulata; synonymous with Triprion spatulatus]. So what are their âbillsâ used for? The verdictâs still out, but it these frogs have been sighted on multiple occasions backing into holes in trees to hide, and using their heads to âplugâ the entrance and conceal themselves- proving useful in this application at least. These frogs can be found from the Pacific coast of Mexico to the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, Oaxaca. Theyâre listed as âleast concernâ on the IUCN Red List. There is literally no chance of us civilians being able to overpower giant telecommunications megacorporations and their lobbyists from killing net neutrality
dont wanna sound like some fucking nihilist but democracy is dead, whoever has the most money always wins, folks need to go out and destroy the rich in able to achieve anything
government agencies donât care for you, they wont listen to your petitions, being a citizen voter doesnât matter on the federal level as the bourgeoisie will just pay for laws that provide them more profit, the proletariat donât have $50,000,000,000 to slip into the pockets of the FCC chairman to âpersuadeâ them
what does work though folks is direct action, the bureaucrats arenât going to even consider your thoughts or needs unless you torch their $100,000 cars and throw cans of paint on their $4M houses
Seriously folks, if it gets destroyed, which it WILL, you people need to go out into the street and cause property damage to telecomm conglomerates and scream at the FCC until they bring it back
If net neutrality is killed and all we see are angry posts and a few buzzfeed articles discussing how Disney characters would react then there is absolutely no hope for the people of this country to stand up to any sort of authoritarian control if they canât do anything besides blog about their rights being taken away
And donât listen to any of the propaganda being spewed by bourgeoisie institutions like Bloomberg or CBS or NBC saying this is a good thing, literally every argument for it is saying âthe internet is too chaotic and messyâ, who else would say this besided the owners of the parent corporations who will make TRILLIONS off of the earnings of us proles
Another effect of this will be restriction of freedom of speech, the working class wonât have a way to communicate and express themselves when you have to pay 15 bucks a month just to use a website. And you bet your ass that those that do are going to be presented content that aligns to the corporationâs political, social, and economic leanings
Tumblr, which is owned by Yahoo and itâs parent company Verizon (which would be one of the 3 telecomm megacorps that would make tremendous amounts of money off of net neutrality being killed) has begun to delete posts regarding net neutrality awareness, as well as automatically removing the net neutrality tag from peopleâs saved tags
Corporations have the ability, and will enforce it, to silence opposition against their profits, spread this like fucking wildfire

hey guys, since our computers are always running, why not consider doing the bare minimum to free people from jail? Bail Bloc is an app that uses your computerâs unused processing power and redirects it toward mining cryptocurrency. At the end of the month, the money is used to post bail for low-income people detained in the U.S. More info here
Hellboyâs canon height and weight, for those who want to know
(excerpt from Odder Jobs by Frank Darabont, director of The Walking Dead)
A commissioner tells Slate that the FCC needs to hold public hearings.
This is something that is very important to pay attention to, and if you are an American I implore you to do everything that you can! Contact your representatives, research your ISPs, and keep a vigilant eye on this! The FCC is likely to make this ruling close to Thanksgiving in an attempt to squeak it by without anyone noticing.
Net neutrality is the reason why you can visit any website confidently. Itâs why you donât have to pay a premium to be able to access YouTube. Itâs why you donât have the internet bundled into different packages like TV is.
If they remove net neutrality protections, then there is no benefit to the consumer. Put simply, your ISP could choose to charge you more in order to visit specific sites, and not every town in the United States has the option to switch to a new ISP because some ISPs hold a monopoly in some areas.
This is what the internet looks like without net neutrality:
@nunyabizni. Could you spread this?
Yikes, yeah.
Theyâre trying to fatigue public resistance by trying to repeal net neutrality as often as possible. We have to stay vigilant. Motivate yourself by assuming no one else is calling/writing. Donât assume other people will do it.
Man full metal alchemist really uh really did everything attack on titan tried to do but ten times better like uhhhhh ten years earlier. Iâm talking the uhh theme of a singular city constantly at war, an oppressive monarchy enforced by military police, daddy issues, dead mothers, powerful kids, the constant air of mystery surrounding the monstrous beings and the implications of a huge conspiracy. It goes without saying it helps that fma isnât uhhhhhhh written by a hardline nationalist
one thing ive learned is that if a water sign acts tough and cool and badass then u have nothing to worry about but if they act like a sweet little uwu then u need to run for ur life
