hey! i've been interested in digital painting and photo studies have felt a little daunting bc of color stuff, do you have any guidance in regard to how you go about yours!? your stoplight art tickled my heart!! 💚

ahhh thank you. i basically bring up the photo and my canvas right next to each other in my program, then i'll usually fill in the background, and proceed to largely block in big shapes and colors to get the composition down. then it's pretty much just a matter of time slowly adding more details to make things recognizable. the main thing i've been focusing on lately is picking colors with my eyes. using the color pickers is easy but it doesn't do much in terms of training your eye for color so all the photo studies i've been doing has been my eyeballing and occasionally checking my colors with the eyedrop tool to try and learn

Your paintings are very pretty! Your did a good job with all of the colors. What brush are you using for them, if you don’t mind me asking?
