quick thoughts on the new matchbook romance singles: i really like "something worse than the night"; the drums are real groovy, that thing with the bell in the chorus especially. I've gotta give "a beautiful day" more time to settle in. I'm hoping tney release more, as it seems they're doing a double album thing. I'd love to do a little narrative analysis on the updated lore including disc 2.

been thinking a lot about the influence of rnb/gospel vocalizations on a certain corner post-hardcore (good tiger, closure in moscow, etc.) because i hear similarities with Brandy and Mariah Carey and even Whitney Houston somewhat (they're pop stars too, idc that the charts secluded them). gonna dive into the history/evolution of these sorts of vocals when I have time. it's pretty interesting.
