When life stops for a night when you look into someone else's

Our garage is known to hold wonders ranging from sandcastle buckets to glittery cowboy hats to pogo sticks to what i found the other night; the scrapbooks and photo albums of my grandparents...

There were at least 5 books filled with photos, memories, scraps, tickets of all the major holidays of my grandparents; they'd done far more than I ever imagined from visiting the Hawaiian Islands to sitting in on the American Senate, watching track and field in the 1984 LA Olympics all the way to visiting the world trade center; a harrowing yet wonderful find.

I think what I love most was that these were all written by my Grandma, who I never knew (she died before I was born) and I felt like I was getting to know her a little more; getting to know her life more. I was told by my Grandad that I reminded him of her in that I loved missions and so I hold anything of her close to my heart.

From looking at these, and from knowing my Grandad I can truly say I'm proud of my grandparents. They lived life to the full, and in my last conversation with my Grandad he said "I've lived a happy life; one I'm proud of" - I can hope that I'll say the same at 84.

I'm proud of my grandparents and a close friend of mine prompted me to think...yeah I'd like to think my grandchildren in the future would think that of me - a goal to aim for.

I loved looking into their lives for a night. It was beautiful.
