âRunning off like that. Fading away? Not your smartest move Betty.â
Chuck frowned, trying to figure out how to even assess this situation. First of all Duke wasnât believing that he was in a different universe. And no matter how many times Chuck said it, he probably wouldnât believe it. She could probably walk him around so that he could actually see that this wasnât his universe, but that felt like too much effort that Duke would probably not believe.Â
âIn all fairness I didnât really run away.â Chuck paused, trying to remember exactly what she did. âWell I mean, that was the plan, but then there was the whole âIâm gonna shoot you thingâ so I was a little waryâŠâ
âAnd it wasnât magic transportation devices or anything along those lines, it was just me going back to the universe I came from. Which I did tell you about ahead of time but you just didnât believe me. And really from my point of view it was my smartest move because now Iâm back in my universe in the comfort of my own home and really the only not smart thing was bringing you here.â
Duke rolled his eyes and took another zip of water. âWill you stop going on and on about that shit? It is seriously getting old!â He looked at her over the brim of his glasses.
âThere are no such things as other worlds. The idea is preposterous. Even if there was such a thing why would passing through them even be possible? Idiotic and dangerous. That is what it would be. Who knows what kind of outer dimensional GERMS there could be!â He huffed and swept the glass of water. He then tossed it on the couch pillow next to him. âWerenât you supposed to be clever? Start playing another song soon, little girl. This one has been beaten like the dead horse it is.â
"You know what's getting old is you not believing when you are clearly in a different reality right now?" Chuck glared at the man, tired of explaining this over and over knowing he was too stubborn to believe her.Â
"And really I don't see any of your mooks with you, so I'm feeling significantly less threatened. But really, reevaluating the times I've worked with the you from my universe, I know I don't want to continue working with you. The countless times you've backstabbed and lied and double crossed really doesn't make up for the fact that you've helped us a few times. Namely because the reason you do it is usually to get to Mutt. Oh, and that's not counting the times you've blackmailed me. So I guess that's my new song, even if I could go back to your universe with you, I don't want to work with someone who will throw me away as soon as I stop singing their tune."

âHrmph. Some water if you now have to do things this way.â
She could practically feel the judgement and disbelief rolling off of Duke in waves. She didnât exactly care for the judgement bit, but she was totally with him on the disbelief bit. She couldnât believe that he wasnât realizing that he was in a different universe. How determined did you have to be to not realize that you had shifted to somewhere else?
Apparently you had to be the Duke brand of crazy to not notice something as altering as that. But really if he wanted to keep up his delusions she wasnât going to be the one to stop him. She went into her small fried taking out the purified water jug she kept in there. The purified wasnât a special guest treatment, more just the tech she used to make sure what she consumed was as healthy as possible. She got a clean glass and poured the water into it before putting the jug back and bringing the glass to the Duke.
âIâm sorry what is the way youâd prefer things done? Iâm just trying to be a good host since you were oh so kind to me.â If there was a bit of a sarcastic bite to her comment she would pretend it was unintentional.Â
The apartment was rather shabby. He wrinkled his nose at the sight. The blonde definitely needed to get her home a proper overhaul. What was he doing there again? Hunting a young woman into her home and everything. If he wasnât so ticked off he might have wondered about his life decisions right now.
Fortunately, Duke was not the kind of man to dwell on his decisions for too long. He went with the flow or he controlled the flow. Right now he very much wanted the control back and get an answer out of Chuck.
Her sarcasm earns her a very sour glare. âWe both know I am not here for you to play good hostess to. We are past that.â He took the glass from her hand and took a gulp. He flopped himself back into the sofa. A finger tapped against the glass. He was clearly still agitated. âRunning off like that. Fading away? Not your smartest move Betty.â

âOkay, so can I get you anything?â
Duke just made an annoy sneer at all the assumptions that she was making about him. He had no plan on really saying anything about all her stolen or scavenged goods. It probably came from his junk yards anyway. Things always came from his junk yards.Â
While Chuck was rushing around to get the place in somewhat agreeable conditions, Duke took a quick peek through the rooms. It was an absolute disaster with things lying absolutely everywhere and hardly any furniture. The bed was just a nest of blankets and pillows and nothing more. Duke returned to the âliving areaâ and plopped down on the freshly cleared sofa. âHrmph. Some water if you now have to do things this way.â
She could practically feel the judgement and disbelief rolling off of Duke in waves. She didn't exactly care for the judgement bit, but she was totally with him on the disbelief bit. The room looked just like any of the other rooms in the motel, with the difference that the big window that covered the whole wall were a tad darker than usual. But it still provided a great view over the whole area; one of the two big trees were glowing on the other side of the building, casting a turquoise tint over parts of the room.
âThe windows are darkened, we can look out but no one can look in.â He explained with a smirk at her.
...Â
She pressed a hand against the window before turning back towards Rayon. âDude!â She exclaimed. âThis room is awesome. Itâs⊠LikeâŠ. Wow!â She paused, realizing she probably sounded immature. But the room really was amazing. âOh gosh that probably sounded really lame, didnât it? You already now your motel is amazing and⊠Why am I still talking?â She scratched at the back of her neck. âReally, stop me at anytime, please.â
The only major difference between this room and the regular ones were probably the size, and maybe also that there were a bit more furniture. The walls were neatly decorated with paintings that matched the general interior. Most of the paintings were abstract minimalism, cubism and similar â-ismsâ, but every now and then you could spot a colorful canvas with a more graffiti kind of style. Rayon guessed Chuck hadnât noticed them yet, since sheâd otherwise recognize that they were made by Dutch.
He chuckled at her reaction over the room, like a fangirl of some sort. She probably didnât realize that her quirky behaviour is whatâs so charming and cute about her.
âWhat if I donât feel like stopping you then, hm?â
He walked over to her and warily put his arms around her waist, keeping her body close to him. The ambient light lit up her silhouette from behind, creating a blue-green outline surrounding her. The trees were glowing a bit stronger than usual thanks to the rain. Speaking of which, he just noticed that the rain had stopped.
âI could probably talk all night about this Motel.â He smiled at her. âBut thatâs not the reason we are here, right?â
When Rayon came up to her and put his arms around him she smiled, pleased at the warmth from the man. She shifted in his arms so she was facing him then placed her arms on her shoulder, intertwining her finger behind his head and smiling coyly. "I don't know, if you don't feel like stopping me from rambling on like an idiot, why should I stop you?" She paused for a second before all of a sudden wanting to eat her words. "Not saying that you would sound like an idiot! That's just me. I'm sure you're really passionate about the hotel and would not sound anywhere as stupid as I do when I open my mouth." At this point she wanted to bit off her own tongue.Â
"Like right now. Why am I still talking?" She was practically panicking and really, there wasn't any real reason too. She was in a safe enough place, and she felt comfortable, and yet she was still nervously rambling.Â
And then she came up with a plan to stop that.Â
Sort of? Or at least something to preoccupy her mouth. She untwined her fingers moving her hands to the back of Rayon's neck to pull him into a kiss. Which was hopefully okay. She couldn't help but worry of course, maybe kissing him wasn't the best plan, but that was part of why they came up here right? And it kept her from talking herself into more of a panic. In fact, kissing Rayon practically seemed to calm her down. It was quite enjoyable.Â
Of course she didn't know if he was actually enjoying himself, and as much as she wanted to, she didn't want to be too greedy. She pulled away, hoping she hadn't been too forward.Â

âSurprise me.â
...
She leaned in close right next to Rayonâs ear, practically embarrassed by what she was about to whisper. âWell, seeing as how Iâm putting my life on the line tomorrow, why don;t you show me a great night? You know how they say, go out with a bang?âÂ
Rayon observed the girls reactions with a hint of amusement, he didnât mind what she choosed, as long as it would pleasure him.
As she whispered in his ear he could feel a small shudder run through his skin. Oh, he liked this. He liked it a lot. He bit his lip a short second as he went through his mind for ideas of how he could give her a night sheâll never remember.
âVery well, then.â
He sat up from the sofa, eyes still fixated at Chuck. But with probably the most smug expression youâd never expect from a gang leader like him.
âFollow me.â
He took her both hands and led her out of the room, if theyâre going to fuck then theyâll do it in a more fitting environment. They walked a couple of stairs to the top floor, passing by several doors with numbers on them, holding the blondâs hand the whole walk. It didnât take long before Rayon found the right door with the number â1313â on it.
When Rayon suddenly sat up she practically slipped off of him. He told her to follow him and all of a sudden they were moving.Â
Well Rayon was moving. Chuck was awkwardly trailing behind. The hand holding was nice, at least she wouldn't get lost. The more they moved the more she wanted to go back to the room. Well, she hadn't really looked forward to doing anything on the couch, but the quick pace they were walking at suddenly made Chuck wish she was still there. She had her arms crossed over her chest, trying to keep up without bouncing too much.
When they got to the stairs the nightmare continued.Â
By the time they got to Room 1313 Chuck was worried about what would happen to the clothes she left in the room more than the room.Â
Then Rayon opened the door.Â
The room was gorgeous. I mean, every time she saw one of the rooms in the motel she was impressed. Compared to her small apartment it was a palace. Even compared to her old pod in Deluxe... The way Rayon managed to keep the place so classy looking despite it being in a shadier place in Motorcity...Â
She walked to the window taking in the view that was there. The subdued glow lit the room in a very sensual way.Â
She pressed a hand against the window before turning back towards Rayon. "Dude!" She exclaimed. "This room is awesome. It's... Like.... Wow!" She paused, realizing she probably sounded immature. But the room really was amazing. "Oh gosh that probably sounded really lame, didn't it? You already now your motel is amazing and... Why am I still talking?" She scratched at the back of her neck. "Really, stop me at anytime, please."
