Hello! I've decided to start a Harry Potter blog for fun, despite being a fully grown adult.
Who am I?
You can call me Salix, or Sal for short.
Pronouns are she/he/they.
My native language is Dutch!
I am an adult, so please keep that in mind when interacting with this blog. ( I do prefer to keep this blog mostly SFW, though. )
My favourite characters are Neville Longbottom, Severus Snape, Sirius Black and Minerva McGonagall.
I do like to draw and write, and you're definitely going to see that here on this blog!
Why am I?
"Slytherin" because I am, according to Pottermore, a Slytherin. Anklebiter because I'm short.
This blog is going to be a lot of shitposting, writing dumps and general Harry Potter content.
Looking for roleplay partners! Preferrably other adult users, but I prefer no nsfw roleplays. However, I don't mind heavier topics, nor do I mind fluff.
Can do Marauders era and Golden Trio era! I prefer using mainly OCs, but I can do canon.
Why does Avilius have a jewish middle name? Do you hc Snape as jewish?
No, I do not headcanon Snape as Jewish. Whilst Katzear is a Hebrew name, neither Snape or my other oc ( Ileana ) are Jewish ( I personally don't headcanon Severus Snape as such, at least ). Story-wise, Avilius is named after a late friend of his mother. Ileana was muggleborn, and her parents weren't that excited to have both a witch and a blind girl for a daughter. So, eventually, they kind of left her to her own. Between the time her parents disowned her and when she would marry Snape, there was an old war veteran, Katzear, who took care of her. He sadly passed away, and to honour her late friend, Ileana named her son after him.
Summary : Callisto Snape has managed to weasel her way into Dumbledore's Army along with her siblings and can't control her temper. She ends up lashing out to others.
Author's note : This is my first short fic, but I wanted to work on at least something since I had some inspiration and no access to my drawing tablet. It's not great I admit, I wrote it in just under an hour, but it's got some OC backstory.
Warnings : Mentions of drugs, mentions of drug overdose, mentions of a child getting hurt
Word count : 1918
“Make it a powerful memory, the happiest you can remember!” Harry's voice echoed through the room of requirements. Callisto took her wand, thinking deeply. She was lucky to be able to join, being a Slytherin. She had managed to catch on to Hermione asking around, and from there, she had pulled some strings. Those strings she pulled being a lot of convincing and making offers. Anything to stick it to that pink toad whom called herself Hogwarts' new headmistress. Callisto knew her absence from her dorms wouldn't raise suspicion, as she was always out until- sometimes even past- curfew, anyway. As she had gotten in, so did her siblings, although with more ease as none of them were Slytherins. “Expecto Patronum!” Callisto heard the voice of her older brother through the room. She opened her eyes to see him cast a blue light, and out emerged a hare, albeit briefly. “Well done, Avilius!” Harry praised him. It still felt odd, being around Harry like this. No animosity, no harsh words from Hermione and Ron either, despite them being who they were; Snapes.
Callisto focused back on herself, once again raising her wand as she thought hard of a happy memory. Once she thought she had one, she flicked her wand. “Expecto Patronum!” She exclaimed, but nothing appeared from her wand. “Okay, no matter, just try again. Different memory.” She thought to herself, going through her memories again. There was watching her twin sister win the Quidditch match against Ravenclaw when she stood in for the Hufflepuff seeker. Oh, how proud she was of her. “Expecto Patronum!” She again exclaimed. Yet, nothing emerged from her wand. She went through her memories again. That time her father expressed his pride in her for getting the highest grade in DADA? No, not good enough... Ah! Callisto remembered, that one time she won a fight with Malfoy! Sure, she got into a lot of trouble, but she still remembered how gleeful she was when she managed to kick his ass for calling her mother a mudblood. “Expecto Patronum!” Still, nothing. Maybe that time she found out she was correct about Sirius Black being innocent all along? Once again, she waved her wand and called out the spell, only for nothing to appear. “Gah!” She growled frustrated. Her gaze fell onto her other siblings, Gaia and Lilith. Both had managed to conjure a patronus, and Lilith was only in her second year! Admittedly, she was jealous of her siblings, but also proud. She took a deep breath, making one last attempt. “Expecto Patronum!” Not even a small flicker of light emerged from her wand.
Frustrated and defeated, Callisto took a moment to once again look at the other students, whom all seemed to manage just fine. All but one. Neville stood out, seemingly also having trouble. Though, at least he managed to at least cast a non-corporal patronus. Rats! Even Neville managed at least something! “Come on, Callisto, don't give up!” Harry approached her. “You just have to thi-” “Think of a happy memory, I know!” Callisto snapped back at Harry, her frustration now growing into anger. Harry, though a bit offended, moved a little closer to her. “It's okay if you can't get the hang of it right away, it's a difficult spell.” He reached out to her, as if wanting to guide her with the movement of her wand. “It's not that difficult if even Longbottom can do it, his magic is abysmal.” Callisto hissed, unable to swallow her words on time. “Neville is doing his best, just like everyone else. And unlike you, he manages to produce something, so I suggest you take a hard look at yourself, Snape.” Harry retaliated, much calmer than Callisto was. In her rage, Callisto turned around, unleashing her anger by casting Reducto on a nearby dummy. Merlin, why didn't she watch her mouth better? She glanced over to Neville, whose expression betrayed that he had definitely heard her. Then, she felt a hand on her shoulder. Snapped back into her rage, Callisto turned around, ready to punch whoever touched her. She immediately lowered her hand when she faced her brother. “Avi, I-” “Sit down.” Her brother commanded calmly. “Let's do some breathing, calm you down, and then clean up whatever mess is left behind.” His voice was soothing, and, whilst strict, not angry at all. Callisto went to sit against the wall with Avilius, taking some time to calm down.
“I don't know what came over me.” Callisto started after a few minutes. “Why do I always say such stupid things when I'm angry?” Her frustration started to grow again, once again aimed at herself. “Well, you're in your formative years, and-” “So are you.” Callisto interrupted him. “You're not going around blowing up in people's faces all the time.” She huffed. Avilius, in return, sighed. “Yes, that is true, but I do want you to remember your brain functions differently, and that isn't your fault.” He spoke in attempt to comfort his sister. “But it is my responsibility. I should be able to control it.” Callisto responded, her frustration still prominent in her voice. “Yes, and no.” Avilius's words raised an eyebrow on Callisto's face. “Look at it this way, I have epilepsy. I manage to control it with a strict sleep schedule, keeping a balanced diet, and, of course, my medication. Yet, I still occasionally have seizures.” Avilius carefully explained. “Sometimes, things just happen, no matter how well you try to prevent it. You can't always help it when your anger gets the best of you, but you can help how you handle it afterwards.” He assured her. Callisto sighed in response, gazing at the floor. He was right, but she couldn't help being harsh on herself.
After the meeting, when everyone was heading back to their dorms, Callisto chased after Neville. “Oi, Longbottom!” She called out. Neville only picked up the pace, staying close to the other Gryffindors. Callisto, in return, sped up as well. “Hey, wait up!” She called out to him. “I want to apologize!” She managed to catch up to Neville. “Look, I'm sorry for what I said earlier, that was unfair and uncalled for.” She pleaded, hoping she could at least properly talk to him. “And it was mean.” Neville responded, a tone that indicated an attempt at biting back. “And untrue.” Callisto added to him. “Please, just hear me out for a moment.” She again pleaded. Finally, she seemed to have managed to get Neville to listen to her. His expression held both anger and anxiety. Of course, for Callisto was a Slytherin and had insulted him earlier. “I got frustrated not being able to cast even a non-corporal patronus. It seemed so effortless for everyone else, and I-” She cut herself off, taking a deep breath before continuing, “I don't know why I lashed out the way I did, and I don't know why I said what I said, and I shouldn't have. I'm sorry.” Neville, still skeptical, looked at her. Catching on to his skepticism, Callisto once again made an attempt at explaining herself and making it up to Neville. “I have trouble controlling my anger, that's why I lashed out. I'm trying my best to control it.” She admitted before her eyes met Neville's. “How do you do it?” She then asked him. “How do you keep so calm?” There was a hint of desperation in her tone. Neville, in return, shrugged. “I just do.” He answered. An awkward silence fell between the two, and Callisto thought of her next words. “Why weren't you able to produce anything at all back there?” Neville broke the silence, seemingly having gathered the courage to talk to her. “I don't know.” Callisto shrugged. “I just... Don't have any memories where I felt strong happiness. Anger and sadness, yes, but happiness?” She sighed. “Are you... Depressed?” Neville asked carefully in response. “Oh- no, I don't think so. I just... Um... Ah, how do I explain this...” Callisto's tone grew softer, contemplating if she should tell Neville or not, and if so, how she would tell him.
“My brain doesn't really work the way it should.” She started explaining. “When I was little, I had an, um... Accident, that landed me in St. Mungo's. I'm mostly fine now, but the accident left me with brain damage. That's why I am so angry so often. Well, partially, at least.” Callisto fidgeted with her robe. It was the first time she talked about this with anyone outside of her family. Neville seemed a bit taken aback. “What kind of accident?” He blurted out, his curiousity, as well as empathy, peaked. Callisto fumbled a bit, eventually making the decision to tell Neville. “Well, it happened when I was three.” She started explaining. “Please, don't think ill of my family for what I am about to tell you.” She added, a hopeful, yet worried expression on her face. Neville shook his head in response, and Callisto continued her story. “I have an uncle- well, two actually, and they're actually just my mother's best friends- anyway, my uncle visited us regularly when we were younger. He helped my parents take care of us, along with my other uncle. One day, I found a little bag with what my three-year-old ass thought was powdered sugar.” Callisto chuckled. “It definitely wasn't powdered sugar, that's for sure. But, I ate it thinking it was. It was really, really bitter from what I remember. And that's honestly all I remember from that time. That, and waking up in the hospital hooked up to something. I don't remember exactly what, but they had to empty my stomach. Mom later told me I kept crying about my chest hurting, and that was, apparently, because they had to resuscitate me at some point.” Callisto told it rather casually, but dropped her casual tone when seeing Neville's horrified face. “Hey- I'm fine now, and my uncle went to rehab!” She assured him. This, however, mostly failed to reassure Neville.
“That's quite the story.” He eventually managed to speak. Callisto nodded with a sigh. She had always handled this story as a funny little incident, as a way to cope with it. She had forgotten to consider how this story would sound to someone else. “I guess it is. I probably should have warned you.” She replied. Neville shook his head slightly. “No, no, it's fine.” He said in a more friendly tone. A moment of silence followed. “It's getting late.” Callisto then spoke up. “Maybe we should... Eh, y'know, curfew and all.” She attempted to diffuse the tension. “Can I walk you to your common room?” She offered. Neville accepted the offer, though still a little wary. It seemed Callisto's story gave Neville some more understanding about her, and he had accepted her apology. As they walked through the hallway, Callisto couldn't help but occasionally glance over at Neville. It's been a while since she had opened up to anyone, as she didn't really have any friends outside of her siblings. She didn't fit in with her house, as she didn't align with most of their ideologies. Though, with Neville, she felt comfortable. It was a strange feeling, and after parting ways with him at the Fat Lady's portrait, Callisto couldn't shake this newfound soft, fuzzy feeling she had. Maybe now she would be able to cast her Patronus, if she just held on to this moment.
Lilith is the youngest child of Severus Snape and Ileana Munguia-Snape. Just like her mother, she was sorted into Ravenclaw. Though, just like her father when he was young, Lilith has a big interest in dark magic, along with other dark subjects. She's artistic, enjoying painting and drawing. She often mixes her hobbies and interests, sometimes using animal bones in her paintings to add textures, as well as sand, leafs and small rocks. She often works with textures, both because she genuinely enjoys it as well as so that her blind mother can enjoy her art as well. Lilith also has a bug collection that she is very proud of.
Lilith is not the social type. She prefers being on her own, either working on a creative project or studying. She knows a lot of curses and hexes, but rarely, if ever, uses them. She will, however, threaten anyone with them when she feels the need to. Lilith excels in Defense Against The Dark Arts and Transfiguration, and has shown interest at becoming an animagus, something quite plausible for her to become, as she is an excellent witch.

Name : Lilith Septima Snape
Date of birth : May 4th, 1983
Gender : Female ( She/her )
Height : 142cm ( As of 1995 )
Hogwarts house : Ravenclaw
Blood status : Half-blood ( Father is a half-blood, mother is a muggleborn )
Third child of Severus Snape and Ileana Munguia-Snape, Gaia is part of a set of twins. Her sister, Callisto, was born several minutes before her. Whilst her twin sister, Callisto, is in Slytherin, Gaia was sorted into Hufflepuff. This allowed her to experience her time at Hogwarts much more relaxed and accepted than her twin sister.
Whilst Gaia is also fluent in sarcasm, just like her father and sister, she tends to be much more soft spoken and gentle. She excels in Herbology and Care of Magical Creatures. Alongside her gentle nature, she adores sports and joined the Quidditch team as Hufflepuff's seeker. Gaia doesn't like being around people that much, and has a small group of friends, which mostly consists of her teammates and siblings.

Second child of Severus Snape and Ileana Munguia-Snape, Callisto is part of a set of twins. She is the only Slytherin among her siblings, as both her older brother and twin sister are Hufflepuffs, and her younger sister is in Ravenclaw. Despite being in Slytherin, Callisto does not share the values many fellow Slytherins hold. In fact, the sorting hat had seriously considered putting her in Hufflepuff.
Callisto takes after her father in terms of humor and talent. She is fluent in sarcasm and excels in Potions and Defence Against The Dark Arts. Though, unlike her father, Callisto is also the spotry type. She plays Quidditch at school, and has dabbled in parkour outside of school. Callisto doesn't care what others think of her and she is very protective of those she cares about. Though, she prefers to keep her circle small and doesn't like being around people much. When provoked, she is no stranger to getting physical.

Work's been busy, but I did have some time to doodle one of my OCs!
Allow me to introduce my OC Avilius Snape!
Eldest son of Severus Snape and Ileana Munguia-Snape. Unlike his parents, he's a Hufflepuff through and through. They are in the same year as Harry, but they don't really interact much. Avilius knows Harry and his friends have a certain bias towards him because of his father, hence to why he's not too keen on interacting much with Harry, Ron and Hermione.
Avilius is a little academically challenged. Whilst he is decently intelligent, magic simply isn't his strong suit. He does better in classes in which one doesn't need to use their wand. They are also autistic, but they manage to cope decently with it. Avilius is quite flamboyant and has a knack for sarcasm. He's hardworking, generally kind, honest and has a strong sense of justice. Despite that, he seems to have trouble making friends. They have three younger sisters whom he is very protective of, but, unlike his younger sister Callisto, they are rarely aggressive. Avilius engages with the muggle world a little more than his siblings. When they were younger, he had briefly attended clown school.

I've been trying to scratch the itch for writing, but I'm in quite a bit of a writer block. So, I'm listing my OCs here for now.
I'm planning to add more, detailed info about my OCs ( Harry Potter OCs only ) on this blog, preferably in different tabs once I remember how to do that. I'm planning to make all of them profiles of their own with their own bio and art to accompany it.
As for my Harry Potter OCs, I have accumulated quite a lot by simply toying with writing ideas and roleplay. Both from the marauders era as well as the Golden Trio era. Most of them are related to Snape in some way, because I am cringe like that, and I liked messing around with concepts and how characters would act towards each other that way. That way I had established 3 main "AU's" around Snape, and I'm going to flesh those out a bit more as well.
As for the OCs I want to work on, many have not seen the light of day yet. But I'm making a personal checklist as well as a list of what can be expected to appear on this blog, which can be found under the cut. The 3 AUs have my main priority, but I will eventually get to the standalones. I'm hoping to get the first things posted before the end of the year!
AU 1 ( The one I have fleshed out the most already )
Ileana Munguia ( Ravenclaw, marauders era + later )
Jackie McMillan ( Hufflepuff, marauders era + later)
Daithí O'Driscoll ( Gryffindor, marauders era + later )
Avilius "Avi" Snape ( Hufflepuff, Golden Trio era )
Callisto Snape ( Slytherin, Golden Trio era )
Gaia Snape ( Hufflepuff, Golden Trio era )
Lilith Snape ( Ravenclaw, Golden Trio era )
________
AU 2
Elwira Malinowska ( Slytherin, Marauders era )
Venus Snape ( Ravenclaw, Golden Trio era )
________
AU 3
Ashley Rowan ( Gryffindor, Marauders era + later )
Eros Snape ( Gryffindor, Golden Trio era )
Asterios Snape ( Ravenclaw, Golden Trio era )
________
Standalones :
Katarzyna Zalewska ( Golden Trio era, adult, didn't attend Hogwarts )
Nienke de Munnick ( Golden Trio era, adult, didn't attend Hogwarts )
I'm working on writing a multi-chapter Snape x OC fic, using an old OC of mine whom I made specifically to mess with the canon.
I'm not fantastic at writing, but if anyone's interested in a story following a blind, muggleborn Ravenclaw witch who forms an unexpected bond with an edgy Slytherin boy, it's coming. Eventually. Probably on AO3 and on here.
James : "If you look up 'problem' in the dictionary, my face shows up."
Remus : "And then he asked me what age I was when I was sure I wanted to start my transaction. I know he meant transition, but yes, I was six years old when I was sure I wanted to pay by card."
Sirius : "I want a biblically accurate Småland."
Peter : "Yes, yes, stop the applause, I'm already on my way to the guillotine for class betrayal."
