“Maybe? I wouldn’t be opposed to finding out.” She replied as a smirk came onto her face. She’d never tried pumpkin pie shots before, but they sounded interesting. “Definitely.”

“Great!” Ludovica said, calling for a round of pumpkin pie shots for the two of them. “So tell me what’s been going on in your wonderful life.”

“This and that.” She replied with a shrug. Nothing particularly interesting had happened since the Veritaserum incident. Or at least nothing that Ludovica would find super interesting. “I reconciled with Fred, I hung out with Noah, I...” Her voice softened. “I spoke to Albus.”

Although the party was fun, with the rides and games, Mul felt it was lacking some real entertainment. There were no fights, no drunk people yet, no chaos. However, the blonde realized she could probably fix that quickly; she spotted a familiar face at the shooting range booth.  “Maybe.” She replied, in a singsong voice. “Although I wouldn’t mind trying it for myself.”

“Really? You have a secret skill for shooting I didn’t know about?” Eyeing the empty spot next to him he nodded his head towards it for her to take a seat. “Be my guest, I need some good competition.”

“I’ve never tried, but it seems like something I’d enjoy.” Especially with him, since Noah always managed to make things interesting. “What do I get if I beat you?”

“Good.” Not only did she not want to start a fight, but she was hoping that her friend wouldn’t either. She didn’t want Lu to get detention. At the mention of Coraline or Maude doing something dumb on their own, Mulci clapped her hands together in delight. “Ooh, I certainly hope they do.” Changing the subject, the blonde continued. “So do you know what you’re going to get?”

Ludovica nodded. “I haven’t tried the pumpkin pie shots. Think they’re any good?” she asked. “Want to do one together?”

“It is, but if we want them to get in trouble, we have to wait for them to strike first. Or make them strike first.” If Mul really wanted to start something, she could. But she’d rather not get in trouble at the party, and if she did, she’d want to play the self defense card.

“Of course, I know exactly what you mean,” she said, recalling the last Rory Smith party where she employed the same tactic with Coraline Wood. It was a useful strategy, really. “If we’re lucky, they might just do something dumb later on and we can enjoy the show.”

“Good.” Not only did she not want to start a fight, but she was hoping that her friend wouldn’t either. She didn’t want Lu to get detention. At the mention of Coraline or Maude doing something dumb on their own, Mulci clapped her hands together in delight. “Ooh, I certainly hope they do.” Changing the subject, the blonde continued. “So do you know what you’re going to get?”

“From the looks of your costume, I’d say Batman’s.” Mul replied with a giggle. “And from the looks of mine, I’d say anyone else dressed as a Hunger Games Tribute. Although I wouldn’t be opposed to kicking Coraline Wood’s, or Maude Delacour-Dupont’s, should either of them try anything tonight.”

She smirked at her remark. It’d be amusing if she did find anyone dressed up as Batman that night, though at the mention of both Coraline and Maude, she chuckled. “I wouldn’t be opposed to it either. Every other thing they do seems to be reason enough.”

“It is, but if we want them to get in trouble, we have to wait for them to strike first. Or make them strike first.” If Mul really wanted to start something, she could. But she’d rather not get in trouble at the party, and if she did, she’d want to play the self defense card.

“Agreed.” At the other girl’s comment on her costume, the blonde grinned. “Why thank you, Lu.” Examining her friend’s costume, she said, “You do too. Maybe we should team up.”

“Maybe we should.” She laughed. When it came to the two of them, it wasn’t too wild an idea, though she knew that the other was joking. “Whose ass are we kicking tonight?”

Catching the menu and looking it over, Mul found a drink she enjoyed. She didn’t drink it very often, but when she did, she always savored the taste. “I can’t remember either. Must’ve been before the last Rory Smith party.” She hadn’t had anything to drink at the last one, instead preferring to watch people make fools of themselves. 

“Let’s just both agree that it’s been too long,” Ludovica said, before she finally gave Mul’s costume a proper once-over. “You look like you’re ready to kick ass.”

“Agreed.” At the other girl’s comment on her costume, the blonde grinned. “Why thank you, Lu.” Examining her friend’s costume, she said, “You do too. Maybe we should team up.”

Although one of her favorite things to do at a party was to sit and watch other people get hammered, Mul figured that one drink wouldn’t kill her. As a result, the blonde made her way over to the bar and climbed up onto the stool. At the sound of a familiar voice, Mul looked over at girl sitting next to her. “Hopefully ones that’ll make things more entertaining.”

She turned at the familiar voice, smiling at the sight of her friend. “Mul, how nice of you to join me,” she said with a chuckle before looking back at the list and sliding it over to the other. “Take your pick. I don’t remember the last time we’ve had a drink together.”

She went all out on her Catwoman costume that night, and she knew that she was killing it. Skintight suit, mask, ears—not to forget, her signature red lipstick went well with the whole outfit. One could say that she was absolutely in her element. As she waited for Montague to go and get changed at the costumes station, she made her way to the open bar, flipping open the drink menu. “And what fancy Halloween drinks did Rory come up with this year?”

Noah had walked around for quite a bit before coming in contact with the shooting range booth, immediately taking a place at the lineup. He had shot about twice when he spotted the familiar bob of blonde hair beside him out of the corner of his eye. “Come to watch me shoot?” he asked, looking very iconic with his Indiana Jones costume.

“Probably. If you want, you’re welcome to join me.” Although she felt he’d decline, she still wanted to offer. She missed talking with him, and if she’d known that commenting on his hair the year before would’ve lead down this path, she would never have said anything. “Do you want me to go find Lu or Andi or Dom?” She offered. If he couldn’t talk about it with her, maybe he’d feel comfortable talking with someone else.

Albus frowned. “I don’t understand,” he said. “Why do you keep trying to be my friend again?”

“Because as much as you don’t want to believe it, I truly am sorry, and I wish we still were friends.” Mul took a breath, letting the Veritaserum push her. “I hadn’t meant to upset you when I said your hair looked different. All I meant by it was it was the first time I’d seen it, and that it’d take a day or two to adjust to. I never said that I didn’t like it.” All she’d meant by the comment was that his haircut had caught her off guard in the moment. But if she could turn back time, Mul knew she would stop herself from saying those words at all.

“I’m thinking of a way to get him back for this. Maybe I’ll go see if the Baron can do anything.” She wasn’t sure if he’d listen to her or not, but she figured it was worth a shot, considering Peeves was terrified of the Baron. At his response, the blonde felt compelled to comfortingly put her hand on his. However she stopped herself, since she had a feeling that Albus might pull away if she tried. “Do you want to talk about it?”

“The Baron is probably the best option,” Albus said. He shifted to the side, and watched Mul closer. “With you? Not really, no.”

 As much as it stung that she would only be friends with him, she was happy at his agreement to go back to the way things were before. “You’re one of mine too.” She replied. “And these past couple of weeks have been hell without you.” Even though she had her other friends, she felt they didn’t really understand her the way Fred did. “Any ideas of what we can do?” She asked, her smile growing.

“I’m sorry,” he said to her saying that her weeks had been Hell-like. That hadn’t been what he wanted. It seemed him trying not to hurt anyone had been having the opposite effect. His face lit up at her smile. “No, not yet. But I’m sure we can think of something to get back at that wanker.”

“Apology accepted.” Grinning at him, she pulled him into a hug. She’d honestly missed hugging him. Hell, she’d missed simply saying hello to him. “I think we should hit him where it’ll hurt, and make it extra painful.” She suggested.

“I know you didn’t mean to hurt me.” Mul didn’t think he’d gone on the date, or even told her about it, to hurt her. He might’ve had arsehole moments, but they were usually shown when pranking people, not actually hurting them. “I shouldn’t have avoided you, I just…I felt that if I hung around you, I’d try to get you all to myself, and I didn’t want you to be hurt or angry with me.” The last thing she wanted to do was hurt him. Or make him angry with her. “Can we try to go back to the way things were before? No avoiding each other, and maybe this time, instead of making second years sick into quicksand, we can do something to Peeves?” A small smile appeared on her lips at the thought of making Peeves pay.

He had a lot of questions about everything she was suddenly divulging to him, but decided now wasn’t the time to answer them. If he really needed to know, he could ask her later. He only hoped that she didn’t still feel that way: that she would ‘try to get him all to herself’. As much as he never wanted to hurt Mul, he also never wanted to hurt Cora. “I would like that. You’re one of my best mates. I never want that to not be the case.” At her mischievous words, an evil smile found itself of Fred’s face as well. “Sounds cheeky, Mul, but I do quite like the sound of that.”

“I’m pretty certain everyone wants to resurrect and then kill Peeves as well.” Although it was a true statement, she the thought had crossed her mind, she’d settle for a way to try and make his afterlife hell. “I’ve…been better.” She replied at his question, surprised that he’d asked. “Are you okay?”

“Well I hope so,” he said. “Because I want him gone, but I don’t want the blood on my hands.” Albus eyed his ex-friend closely. The hesitation said everything to him. Then again, who wouldn’t have been better given the circumstances. “Not really, no. But such is life, right?”

And I hate that we’ve been avoiding each other.” Although she wasn’t sure if he’d been avoiding her, she’d definitely been avoiding him, because she was scared if she saw him, she’d be tempted to get Coraline out of the picture somehow. “And also…I like you. A lot.” Mul took a breath. “At first I just thought that I was attracted to you, especially because you’re really hot when you prank people, but it’s more than that. When I kissed you, I felt something, and when you pushed me away, it hurt.” Her voice became soft. “Seeing you with her and not with me hurts too.”

He listened carefully. It was a lot to take in, and he was afraid to interject. Not that he would know what to say even if he had wanted to. He sighed, looking over her inquisitively. After their snogging in the courtyard, he had suspected she fancied him, but he hadn’t really let himself fully believe it was true. There were a few moments of awkward silence as he tried to think of what to say.

“I miss you too,” he said finally, treading carefully with his words. He couldn’t lie to her, but he didn’t want to divulge the whole truth either. “I felt like a proper twat treating you the way I did. And I don’t want us avoiding each other either. But… Bloody hell, I don’t know, Mul. I’m sorry it hurt you that I started seeing Cora. I never meant to hurt you, but I didn’t know that’s how you felt.”

“I think pretty much everyone feels that way.” Albus didn’t know why, but he felt nervous. He though he didn’t have anything to hide from her. That he’d always spoken true about how he felt. But was that really true? “Oh. I see.” He shifted on his feet. He was trapped down this dead-end with no way out. “You okay?” Why was he even asking? He wasn’t supposed to care.
