It’s been a hot minute since I’ve been on here but just wanna say if you’re one of those people writing whole ass think pieces about Yuzuru’s marriage and how it sucks or whatever, you need to take a step back and realize that it’s not about you.
I’ve seen people mention feeling betrayed, upset, angry, and sad and personally I think it’s silly to react to this news with anything but immense happiness for him. Shock, I get. It was out of nowhere but every thing else? No.
Some of you treat him like an idol which he has expressed time and time again that he is not—not saying treating idols this way is great either but that’s a whole other can of worms I won’t open right now.
Point is, if you are really, truly a fan, you would be happy for him. Plain and simple. Understand that Yuzuru has dedicated his LIFE to skating, has made numerous sacrifices and suffered for it. He has centered his entire life around skating and given so much of himself to it. So WHY are some of you out here feeling upset that he’s decided to find something good outside of it?
You’re just being selfish.
Yuzuru means a lot to me too and his skating has pulled me out of some of the darkest times. Truly. He’s saved my life. But I’ve also seen him bleed, seen him break himself again and again for the sake of his art. Through those times, I had only wished and hoped that all the love and happiness he shared with us would be given back tenfold. At the end of the day, all I really cared about was him being happy.
Being married does not change who he is. It does not affect the core of who Yuzuru Hanyu is. He’s still a skater. He still loves to skate, that much is obvious. What does being married have to do with his skating?
If you’re an actual adult and you feel some type of negative way about this, please for the love of God, grow up.
