I hope wandering at 2 am is allowed...
Trust me, you will take a liking to the nickname. They are endearing.
You are quite handily one of the cheekiest people here, love. What's your name anyways?
I hope wandering at 2 am is allowed...
Just so you know, I will be referring to you as Hannah Montana from now on. No use in fighting it, just accept it. It will be easier for both of us.
Oh, okay... Is that so? You better hope I stay calm Miley than, I'll accept it. 'M just saying though.
I hope wandering at 2 am is allowed...
Oh so you’re like a silent killer then. [he chuckled] You’re like that one person in class that doesn’t talk to anyone but is actually living like a really cool double agent type of lifestyle.
Sure, if that's what you want to call me. We'll go with that, I like to think I am more like Hannah Montanna. Just less obvious.
I hope wandering at 2 am is allowed...
Oh are you now? Don’t really look like one too be honest. Seem more like the quiet type.
What's the saying... Don't judge a book based on it's cover? I'm quiet, still a rulebreaker though.
I hope wandering at 2 am is allowed...
Oh? Then care to explain what you are doing out here then?
I am the definition of a rule breaker, handsome.
I hope wandering at 2 am is allowed...
No, clearly it's not.
Don't worry, exterminators aren't needed.
Bathe in it like virgin blood.
Let's take a bath than, Pookie.
Ember shrugged a bit to Katie’s comment about Hyde and she looked down at her hands. Her hands, feet, and back were really the only things un-touched by a knife or blade or sharp object. So her bare hands shone some truth in that small, carved up body of hers. “Being used is such a harsh word. If I’m thinking what you’re thinking, they’re going to use me as their outlet of pain, then that’s not really using me. I find that actually quite enjoyable,” she stated, nodding her head as it lifted to look at the girl.
"Satisfying, huh?" She smiled a bit, understanding how that feels. "That’s how cutting is for me. It’s the most satisfying and relieving feeling ever. To create a beautiful piece of work on my skin is a good feeling, even if it is just a cut." She couldn’t believe she was revealing so much to this girl, or even that this girl was relieving so much to her. She felt as if talking to her was safe, like she understood; it was easy, she liked easy. Ember ran a hand through her long, blonde hair and sighed, standing up. "I’m getting cold, should we head back to our rooms?" She asked, looking down and offering Katie a hand up.
Katie sighed, stretching her hands in front of her. Interlocking her fingers and cracking them as she looked over the blonde. And shrugged. "I'm really just trying to warn you, whether you like the pain or not. You could end up dead." She wasn't exactly sure why she was even concerned at all, but she was. It was another one of those weird things that had happened to her before, where she just clicked with a certain person. "Just... Be careful who you let use you. Though I am the most dangerous here... Erik is a second, and I don't know about him recently." It still felt a little weird bringing Erik up as dangerous, despite it having been months.
"Yeah, it's very satisfying." She nodded, smiling as the girl continued to speak about her cutting. It was utterly interesting, she had never heard someone talk so fondly about pain. It made Katie like Ember more. "I'm an artist you know... Maybe I can do something cool?" She was a bit shocked she'd just offered that up, if the girl liked pain and she liked that it looked like art on her. Why not do something with that. It might even give the girl herself, a bit of a satisfaction. "Yeah, it is getting a bit chilly." She took Embers hand and stood up, adjusting her sweater and pants so she was all straightened out. "Which one are you rooming in?" She gestured at the cottages, assuming that Ember still wanted to talk to her.
Ember sat across from Katie and listened. She was a good listener, always in the shadows listening to begin with. Masochist, huh? She hadn’t heard that term used until she got to that school, then it was thrown around like the saying ‘um’. She didn’t really know what to say to people wanting to use her for their own torture outlet, since she didn’t really know how she felt about it. It didn’t scare her, in fact, it almost intrigued her. “I’m not afraid of them. Of those people, what they could do to me. Hyde scares me, but only because she’s authority.”
As she sat there, listening to her murder story, she couldn’t help but think of what would happen if Ember crossed a line with her. It’s almost like stepping on egg shells with her, but that wasn’t so bad. She didn’t want to get on anyone’s bad side in this place anyway. “How does it feel.. Killing someone, I mean,” she said as she placed a finger in her mouth, biting on it. She didn’t want it to sound like she was curious because she wants to kill someone, she just wants to know what goes through someone’s mind who has killed someone. Ember started to feel more and more comfortable with Katie, regardless if she was a murderer.
Katie nodded, shrugging it off a bit. She wondered how the girl could be so calm about being used the way she might be. She couldn't understand why Hyde would scare her though, she didn't even know if the woman had been around yet, let alone enough to give someone a fright. "I would be a little scared of them... Hyde scaring you is weird to me, Hyde is usually a joke around here. Nothing but a sack of bones, that old lady is. I love her... Really, she's more of a mother than anything I've ever had. She's not really anything to be worried about though, stay out of her way and she wont bother you." Katie stated.
The brunette bit her lip, cocking her head. She heard the sincere curiosity in Embers voice, she just wanted to hear what it was like. In attempts to make it not as graphic as possible. The girl had killed quite a few people in here 18 years, more than any small 18 year old girl show have even dreamed about. "Satisfying." was the first word that came to her mind, she thought back to her last kill, her father. "It's like... You build up so much hatred and anger towards someone, that when you see their last breath leave their body, that you won control. It's so satisfying." She hoped that wasn't to bad of a description, but there really was no way to beat around the bushed about killing someone. She looked at the girl, waiting for her reaction.
Ember looked at Katie as if what she just said was strange and then crossed her arms, still a bit confused. People already used to use her for her talents, what else could they use her for? “What do you mean, use me?” She asked slowly, trying to make sense of it all. It didn’t seem to her like people were exactly good at this school, they weren’t all together fighting the same battle; it was almost like a blood bath against each other. But Katie seemed different, like a helping hand.
She listened to the girl’s story, hearing what she had done to her friend. She nodded and looked down at the crispy, frosty ground beneath them and looked back at her eyes. “So, you killed her.” She searched for an answer in this girl but she didn’t seem like she was the type to let everything loose. On the other hand, neither was Ember really, but that was another story. Something in her, though, made her inquire more. “D-Did she deserve it?” She spoke quietly, as if when she said that, she’d be locked up forever. She gulped a little as her head lowered towards Katie’s, trying to be secretive.
Katie sighed, sitting on the chilled ground by the tree. Gesturing for Ember to sit across from her. She figured there was a lot of explaining about to go on, and that the conversation was far from over. It's not that, that bothered her. She was a quite secluded person, so having real conversations was nice every now and again. "They'll use what you do, as an outlet for themselves. You enjoy pain, yeah?" She asked, more as a statement than a question. "They'll use you for personal gain, a lot of people like to cause pain. They like to torture people and you could easily be a target since you're half way there already." She decided to leave herself out of the description of people, just for now. "Causing pain... It's a bit... Endorsed here. Hyde has a twisted theory, and A's are supposed to torture the B's... that's what you are, hon."
Katie played with the laces on her black combat boots, looking at the girl and nodding. "Yeah, I killed her... It was before I could control myself." She took a breath, admitting to this sort of thing always made it hard to tell how a reaction would be. It sucked that her track record was so easily checked at the school, lies couldn't even be her best friend like they used to be. She shrugged at Ember. "She made fun of my," She hesitated unsure how to explain Lacey. "Fuck... She made fun Lacey's art, to the point where Lacey would go home in tears everyday..." Katie explained, looking at her her gaze locked with Embers. "So I snapped, and I killed her. Once the bell went, I took the handle off the paper cutter... and I slit her open." She tried to stop the smirk from coming across her face when she thought back to that day, despite how long ago it was it felt like the last day she did anything good for anyone.
Ember stared down at her markings and smiled along with her, nodding her head and shrugging her shoulders. “I assume that’s what it is. I’ve heard people throwing around that term recently when talking to me so most likely. I haven’t talked to a doctor yet so..” She beamed as Katie admired her work. She flicked away her cigarette as well, blowing out her last puff of smoke away from the girl’s face.
"They scare some people here. I can tell.." She said lowly, bowing her head down. She didn’t want to frighten anyone, she just wanted to be herself in this dark and twisted school. She hoped that some people would understand, but it was seeming Katie understood. She actually liked her markings; her art. “I try to not let it bother me, but you know how people are.” She glanced up at Katie and tilted her head. “What’d you do to be here?” She asked, hoping it wasn’t too forward but not really caring at the same time.
Katie smiled up, looking into the girls blue eyes smiling. "Yeah, it sounds like they are labelling you a masochist. Which is going to make you a bit of a target around here, Ember." She knew a lot of the people here pretty well. Knowing that because of their sometimes unimaginative nature, they would flock to someone like Ember. She didn't want that for her, if anything she wanted to twist it as much as possible so she wouldn't have to share Ember. "You know, there are people here who would use you as personal gain? A lot more than you expect."
"I guess it's an acquired thing, someone cutting themselves out of want... is almost foreign." Katie smiled more, she didn't want to think about it too much. The want to use Ember right off the bat, she'd get that enough around here. The felinesque girl wanted to at least seem like a friend to her, "Yeah, people suck. They really, really do. I'm not one of them though, I understand it... and I like it." Katie sighed hearing the girl ask about her past, she didn't want to lie because she knew word about her traveled like wildfire at this school. "It had something to do with art... a friends art..." She didn't mention that the friend was the real owner of the body she now stowed herself away in. "I lost my temper, and things got a bit messy. That was the first time at least."
Don't worry, exterminators aren't needed.
-Katie laughed, holding the plastic bag gripped in her fingers.- I've been so bored, I took it upon myself to rid the school of vermin.
Now... what to do with this bag.
Ember looked at her and took a step back, looking down at her arms. Something shifted in her and she shook her head, smiling a bit. “Well, self-harm is associated with hatred and violence. I didn’t do this out of hate. I did it for the art.” Her smile twisted up and a small laugh came out of her parted lips before showing the cigarette in, inhaling some more. She rolled up her sleeves and showed Katie the markings, her smile showing through her cigarette.
"This one is my mom and I. See, we’re holding hands. She loved it," she said, pointing to the stick figure people on her forearm. She had others, more morbid looking and dark than just a stick figure. She had almost sadistic markings on her, probably from when she felt as if she couldn’t do anything right with her family. "Do you like them?" She asked with confidence and a little darkness in her voice.
Katie pulled in the last drag of her smoke, watching it turn to ashes before her. She loved the sometimes the heavyness that tobacco caused when she first started smoking could be felt every now and again. She glanced back up at the blonde girl, nodding with her words. Her reading was correct and with every extra word the girl said if just confirmed deeper. "You're right, that's exactly was self-harm is. So... You're a masochist? Is that what they labeled you as?": She asked, knowing that the school was huge on labels, that every person had one that could be pinpointed. It didn't matter what the person thought of themselves.
Katie flicked away the end of her cigarette and approached the girl, beaming as she looked over the girls artwork. It was admirable, Katie enjoyed it. She reached out to run her fingers over the scabbed scars. "That's beautiful, in a weird and twisted way." She smirked up at the girl, nodding her head. "I do like them, it's interesting." She ran her fingers over a few more of them before dropping her arm back down to her side.
A Monster's End || Erik || Katie ||
Erik looked down at his hands, staring at the blood caked in the crevasses of his knuckles. His fingernails were a faint, red tent with the blood underneath trying to show its colors. His body had become the canvas of his latest masterpiece— his first masterpiece— his proudest masterpiece. For the longest time, Erik craved for Katie’s approval, to feel that she was proud of what he had become. It angered him to never have her give it to him but really it was his own fault, he had never done anything to prove himself. He removed his gaze from his hands and back to her face. He had missed seeing her— even though he loved Sonnet, Erik had never cared about anyone more than he did Katie.
Slipping the dufflebag off his shoulder, Erik crouched down to pull open the zipper. His hand came into contact with a small bottle, his skin warming from the contents inside the plastic. The same boyish smile Erik always wore, sat upon his lips as he stood up straight and stepped closer to Katie. “I was mad at you for the longest time for what you did to me— for what you made me into. But it wasn’t your fault, it was her’s. Even after everything I did, I was never good enough. I made it all go away,” Erik stated matter of fact, twisting the cap off the bottle and pouring some of the contents into his hand.
The palm of his hand, stained more red as he poured blood into it. After pouring out a good amount, Erik placed the bottle onto the floor and dipped his finger into the crimson liquid. Upon seeing Katie, he noticed how clean and pale she looked compared to him and he wanted her to be like him, to feel what it felt to have his mother’s blood cover the skin. Reaching up, Erik pressed the blood covered finger against Katie’s face and slid down her cheek. Dipping his finger into the blood again, he smeared her face completely. He stepped back when he was finished and smiled brightly, “You look beautiful.”
Katie stood there and looked over Erik, from head to toe. She took in how bloody he was, but she also took in the proud look upon his face Katie approached him more, furrowing her brows. It hadn't really occurred to her what he had done yet, not until he pulled out the bottle and began explaining. "Erik? Where is all this blood from?" She never really expected this out of him, it never seemed like he was going to go that final stretch of the insanity line. It sent a pang of guilt that was quickly replaced with fondness and approval when the boyish smile came back over his face. He didn't seem unhappy with what he was anymore. Which made this a lot better.
"I'm glad you're not upset with me anymore." She said, a sly smile coming across her face. She hoped this was a transitioning point, that maybe her relationship with Erik could possibly be saved. There was no way should could push it, if he hated her. She cocked her head when he began mentioning a her, her brows knitting tighter together. Little bits of the story were falling into place now, Erik had been gone for a while. Long enough to make a trip to-- anywhere, really. So instead of feeling in like she had no clue Katie took a stab in the dark. "Erik, did you find your mother?" Her eyes widened, watching him poor the dark liquid onto his hand. Not much changed about his physical appearance except it all looked fresh again. Like he had just had the fresh blood on him all over again.
Katie bit her lip, resisting the urge to stop Erik from smearing the crimson solution on her. She took it with a grain a salt, she had always hated the feeling of blood on her. She hated the metallic smell of it, and the iron taste to it. Though she yearned for it at the same time, she let in a small gasp of air when Erik said she looked beautiful like that. This situation was both incredibly endearing, and slightly distorted. Instead of letting the strangeness take over, she smirked up at the boy only focusing on the glint in his eyes. Dragging her finger though the blood on her face, and onto her arm. "Seeing this come out in you... I really like it." She reached up to touch her face, running her finger along his cheekbone.
After a while, Darren’s eyes began to sting from the smoke. He coughed into his sleeve and blinked away the tears that were starting to form. He relaxed minutely when she said that she wasn’t going to hit him, though in reality he never did let his guard down entirely. He couldn’t remember a time when he felt like this was an option.
With narrowed eyes, Darren watched as the girl passed through his small cabin and tossed the squirrel into his room. (There was no way for her to know that it was his. He tried to ignore the rage that bubbled in his stomach.) He turned his head back to the girl and forced a smile and a shake of his head, “No, I don’t mind. I’m willing to sacrifice a little bit if it means that I’ll kill it. I didn’t want to give it the satisfaction of thinking that I was going to be its friend. I don’t have friends. I like it when it knows that I’m going to hurt it. ‘Sides.. If you looked at my hand and arms you’d see that they’re mostly scars anyways. There’s not much skin left and sometimes it doesn’t even hurt since the nerves in my wrists are so fucked up. It’s numb. I don’t feel anything anymore in certain places.”
He hung onto her words and tasted them as soon as she spoke them. “I guess I just snapped. I do that a lot. Doesn’t seem like you do, though. You’re more of a sociopath than me. Full on psychopath here.” He smiled weakly before coughing into his sleeve again. He beamed at her compliment, but found that he didn’t like breathing when there was the smoke in the air.
Katie smirked at the boy, gesturing to her mostly finished smoke. She could tell he mustn't be accustomed to it. "Do you want to take the conversation out on the porch? I'll probably want another one." She stated, clearly disregarding that the boy had even asked for something the clean the wound up on his finger, or even stop the bleeding. She could tell by the blood flow that if he held the wound a bit longer it would stop. "Pinch it tighter, under the wound. It'll stop the blood flow and give it time to clot." She stated.
She listened to the way he spoke, why would anyone willingly let something as revolting as a squirrel bite them. She shrugged, not really understanding the thought pattern there. "When they thing you're going to be it's friend... It's crushed, it gets to feel it's emotional stability fall to pieces when you betray it. Pretending to be somethings friend, makes all the more pleasurable when you're done with it." Katie smiled, and crossed to the door. The brunette girl pulled it open and tossed out her smoke that she had let burn away while she was talking. "What have you been getting into with that?" She questioned, she was intrigued to hear even a glimpse of what this kid had done.
"Snapping is fun every now and again, but being in complete control make it worth while." She went to reiterate what she said, she firmly believed against snapping. Everything had to have a plan, or it would never work right. "Snapping can be useful, to have that one tick... It's not good though, it makes your vulnerable. People like us, the last thing we need is to be vulnerable." She nodded and headed back out of the cabin leaving the door open so he could follow her. Hoisting herself up on to the banister. She balanced carefully and crossed her legs, lighting another smoke and taking a puff. "A psychopath? Would you be interested in maybe taming that a bit?" She cocked her head, she was always interested in things to keep her busy in this place and felt that Darren might be a good investment.
