…along with the Huang, Komova I, Seitz, Li Ya, Scheder, Teza I and II, Mo, Liu (Xuan), Okino, and a million other skills that were either unjustly rated or are now deducted so heavily that they’re virtually obsolete…and this is just what I can think of off the top of my head during dinner.

I think it’s worse because the FIG tried to justify it for “safety” reasons even though no one else is even attempting it and her’s is very safely done. If they just didn’t try to justify it, it would have been better.

ALSO, totally agree with all skills that have been submitted in categories that have D-value caps because that is very much also an injustice!!

Simone is one of the best, if not the best, gymnast ever. She is well know and frequently discussed. It is not surprising that people are talking about this. Also, it is completely unjust to devalue something because you are afraid others might get hurt (if this is a legitimate concern, ban the skill or shut up) and I would feel the same way no matter who had submitted the skill.

Celebrating an athlete not making finals because their coaches made a dumb decision. Cool. Love gymnastics fans.

I can’t with their leos. It is super disrespectful to have these leos where the girls can barely move without a possible incident. It has pissed me off for years because I would be so uncomfortable if I was asked to wear that and know I would feel pressured to do so. (That being said, if all of the girls truly are fine wearing them, that’s cool, no disrespect to them.)

this honestly just goes to show how low the level of international elite gymnastics is right now though because no one, not even simone biles, should be able to win a major final with two falls

i’ve seen a lot of “simone was overscored” takes already which is fair enough, but even if you take another full point away from her to compensate for all the little deductions that maybe weren’t taken…she still wins this competition COMFORTABLY

i don’t think the level of the others is low as much as the level of simone is high like… her difficulty is beyond what we even thought was possible in this sport before she showed up, i don’t think the others have an unsatisfying level of skill

i do think we have a problem with judging though that allows difficulty to do so much of the talking it does now and that’s what should change

yeah I think it’s a bit harsh to say everyone else is at a low level lol if like, Morgan had won with 2 falls then fine but Simone is just so far ahead of everyone else, we knew this, it’s not news. How are DTYs, 6ish difficulty bars routines and double doubles/ftdlos on floor mediocre or low level??

I don’t think it is fair to blame the code at all. Simone is so exceptional that she can do something no one else can. I doubt we will have the problem with other gymnasts in the future (two falls and a win) so it doesn’t mean we need to overreact (not addressed to anyone in particular, just a general statement).

My mail carrier doesn’t seem to know how to properly deliver packages...

You can’t use the Martha method to decode todays lineup because beam’s implies Grace is the alt but bars/vault/floor implies Kara is. So confused.

I understood it like the four going first are the girls competing the event and the other two are the ones out that rotation (alt. included if I’m not mistaken Ragan was the fifth in every event, except beam probably? I don’t remember)

Ragan went 5th every single rotation. I think they did 4 in lineup, alternate, remaining athlete.
