ok so i’ve said my biggest problem with mike flanagan’s writing is the monologues BUT i could go on for DAYS about the moonflower scene in episode 6 of bly manor and how jamie’s monologue is the best in any of his works because almost every single piece of it is called back to at some point throughout the series and it encompasses all of the show’s themes and ugh it’s so well done and amelia eve’s performance was great and she was a huge part of creating it which i can’t even get into 😭

but the part that hits the hardest is “and it’s so clear then how people aren’t worth it but plants you pour your love and your effort and your nourishment into them and you see where it goes you watch them grow and it all makes sense so yeah everyone is exhaustive even the best ones but sometimes once in a blue goddamned moon i guess someone like this moonflower just might be worth the effort”

cause you juxtapose that with the final episode where the last time we see jamie directly interact with a plant is when she’s digging into the roots of the almost dead one dani proposes with and the last moments of the whole series are jamie taking the time to fill up the bathtub and sink with water and open the door and then she literally turns her back on the flowers that are on the table and she does it all in an effort to maybe catch even just a small glimpse of dani. and the flowers are in the background of the close up on her falling asleep in the chair???!? and the lyrics of i shall believe playing while this is happening!??! CHILLS!!  

we gradually see jamie shift away from plants and pour all of her love and nourishment into dani is what im getting at and it’s beautiful man she became dani’s gardener and even though it was brief like a moonflower dani was worth the effort and the work of loving her was worth the pain of losing her

and it’s- just…. like??! that’s it ya know? that’s the good stuff…. it hurts! but it’s good…
