It's so sad to see that this blog died

It’s not dead until I say it’s dead, friend. I’m hoping to have new stuff in the new year, but two jobs and traveling for the holidays has sort of severely cut down my drawing time.

At the risk of sounding slightly passive-aggressive, sending messages lamenting the death of this blog or asking me when I’m going to update again does not help me update faster.

That said, I am still so grateful to have all of you here, and I hope to have new stuff for you all in 2015!

HELLO FRIENDS

You may have noticed I've been a bit scarce lately. I'm wrapping up one job and moving on to another, which has left me without much time to draw. For that, I am sorry. I am double sorry that this dry spell coincides with a trip out of the country! Smash Mansion will return the week of October 12th, once I am back in the states and settled into my new gig. The ask box will remain open.

I was wondering how you decided on the outfits you draw the characters in? Samus, for example, is typically drawn in clothes that are unlike her zero or power suit.

The Zero Suit seems to be used mainly underneath/in conjunction with the Power Suit in combat situations. She’s seen in casual wear and civilian clothes quite a few times in the manga, so I like the idea of her in practical, vaguely military-inspired clothes if she’s just hanging around the mansion. As, uh, controversial as Other M is, I do sort of like the outfit they put her in for some flashback sequences, and I drew some inspiration from that getup in particular.

Along those lines, you’ll notice that I tend to keep the characters in “abridged” or casual versions of their combat outfits (i.e. Marth and Ike without their pauldrons and chest plates, etc), just because I think it fits with the relaxed, chilling in the house-type theme of this blog.
