After a pair of impressive 2-2 draws at No. 23 (Soccer America) Cal and No. 1 (NSCAA) Stanford last weekend, the Saint Mary’s men’s soccer team has moved into the No. 30 slot on the CollegeSoccerNews.com national rankings.

SMC men’s soccer to face top-ranked Stanford

Coming off its 2-2 draw at No. 23 (Soccer America) Cal yesterday, the Saint Mary’s men’s soccer team now turns its attention to another Bay Area rival.

Rowland signs to play professionally in Russia

Former Saint Mary’s guard E.J. Rowland has signed to play with Russian side BC Khimki of the VTB United League.  He played last season at Hapoel Jerusalem in Israel, where he averaged 11.7 points, 3.1 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.5 steals per game.  He helped lead Hapoel to the league final and played 16 games in EuroCup.  He is a 3-time honorable mention all-EuroCup honoree.

Boomers keep rolling, face Serbia in Olympic semifinals

Behind the 39 points of former Saint Mary’s stars Patrick Mills (24) and Matthew Dellavedova (15), the Australian National Team convincingly defeated Lithuania 90-64 to advanced to the Olympic semifinals.

The win places the men in the semifinals for the first time since Sydney 2000 and for just the fourth time overall while they now have a chance to play for their first ever medal.

Diaz named preseason all-WCC

Saint Mary’s junior forward Hannah Diaz earned preseason all-West Coast Conference honors, according to league officials.

Last season, the Hidden Valley Lake, Calif. native became the first SMC player to earn first team all-WCC honors since 2011.  She tied for the team scoring lead with six goals and started all 20 matches during the season.

WCC releases hoops schedules

The West Coast Conference released the 2016-17 men and women’s basketball league schedules today.  Noteworthy items for each school’s fans include no games prior to Christmas and generally no travel partners.  Television schedules should be released in early September.

Patty & Delly lead Boomers to historic victory in Rio

Saint Mary’s basketball continues to make an impact for the Aussie Boomers at the Rio Olympics as Patrick Mills and Matthew Dellavedova combined for 49 points in a 95-80 group victory over Serbia.

Delly scored 23 points on 7-of-8 shooting and registered an Aussie Olympic record 13 assists without a turnover.  Mills led the team with 26 points.
