Oh! That was unexpected. Ryou stopped in his tracks, returning the wave.

“Yugi, hi! How’re you?” He had been so coped up in his apartment, he had lost track of when he had last seen his friend.

          “i’m doing well, just got done with closing up the game shop for the night,” he laughed lightly, knowing that his hands probably still smelled like dusting supplies since that’s what he did with his time today. still, it was nice to see the other. 

          “how about yourself?”

The bump had caused Able to reach out and brace himself to a wall, so he wouldn’t fall on his face, but other than that, he seemed unharmed, glancing to the other male, offering nothing more than a grin and a thumbs up, before choosing to speak. “Heh, yeah fine mate, no worries yeh?”

     yugi gave a sigh of relief when he heard that the other was okay and held a hand to his heart. 

          “thank goodness, i should really pay more attention though, i dunno what i would have done if i hurt you.” though with how tall he really was, yugi had to assume that he wouldn’t have a lot of umph to harm anyone.

     eyes went to see ryou sitting by himself on a park bench, so, yugi did what any friend would and went over to sit next to him with a smile growing upon his features. 

          “what’re you doing all by yourself, ryou?”

          “oh crap! sorry about that!” he hadn’t meant to bump into the stranger, he was just in such a rush that he wasn’t looking where he was going. “you okay?”

          “ryou!” yugi waved his hand to get the attention of the other with a bright smile on his face. he had just got done helping his grandpa around the house and wanted to spend an afternoon just goofing off. seeing a friend not too far away was something to bring joy to the duelist.

Her eyes trail to the keys in his hand, a slight shift had made them glint was all and they had caught her eye. He must be going somewhere and locking the shop up until he returns. 

“You’re such a good grandson, always helping him.” Then again, that was him with anyone, helping them. “Going to get some cleaning supplies? Yeah I’ll tag along. I need to pick up something from the store anyways myself and besides, I wanted to hang out with you so even just a store trip is cool with me.” If he asked her what she needed to get, she would say ponytail holders, her hair had broken all of the ones from her previous pack.

     “my grandpa has always been there for me, it’s the least i could do to help him.” besides, working at his grandfather’s game shop was what he wanted to do when school ended, this was just a part of the work. it couldn’t all be fun and games. 

     even though he wished it could be. 

          “great, just let me close up the shop,” and with that the smaller locked the door with the keys in his hands and pocketed them before turning back to anzu. “and now we can get going.” 

     he was glad the store wasn’t too far away, one of these days he would have to get a car--he was saving up for one at least.

          “heh, i suppose my stomach knows better than me,” it was getting later in the afternoon and yugi was beginning to get hungry. “did you want to stop somewhere and pick up something to eat?”

     “I have a company to run, I don’t have TIME for holidays.” Not like he had more than one family member to celebrate anything with, and really only did it for that single person’s sake. A man like him didn’t really find much to get out of those things anymore… not for a long time anyway. “Mokuba can do what he likes, I’m not the festive type.”

     and that right there was what made yugi frown at the taller. he knew that kaiba and mokuba were basically all each other had, but hearing that kaiba didn’t have time for anything during the holidays did strike a cord in the duelist. 

     he did get an idea though. but he’d keep that thought to himself. 

          “a company sounds like a lot of work if you don’t have time for a simple day off..”

“You know me, always one for throwing out surprises.” She gives him her usual bright smile. She is happy to see him, she always is. “I’ve been doing super well, what about you? How’ve you been doing, hm?”

     glad that anzu was doing well, yugi thought about his own goings on and had keys in his hand, remembering what he was doing. 

          “oh, well you know me, helping my grandpa around the shop. i was just going to the store to get some cleaning supplies so i could dust the place before he came home.” a thought then popped up in his mind. “would you like to come with?”

     “Not really.” Blatant, and probably half a lie. Mokuba would insist upon it of course, so he didn’t have a choice regardless. “If that’s an invitation, save it, Yugi.”

     that really wasn’t an invitation, yugi had thought that the other would at least be spending the holidays with his brother. the smaller was merely curious. 

          “that wasn’t an invitation, just trying to kick up a conversation.”

          “well this is a pleasant surprise, how’ve you been, anzu?” there was a smile upon the shorter’s features, more than happy to see the young woman.

          “do you have anything planned for christmas, kaiba?”
