I find it really hard to sympathize with so-called ‘ex-gifted kids’ cause I swear to god most of you have good points about how the education system fucks people over but most if not all of you word it in such a contemptuous way like saying ‘oh since I found out I was the same as the dumb/normal/average kids bellow me I’ve never quite been the same’ like wow it’s crazy that at the end of the day the kids like me who where bellow par where actually right when we thought you guys felt like you where better than everyone else, thanks for coming and outright saying it and confirming it lol.
I wish we had more ‘ungifted child’ discourse. I want to hear their stories and how they where treated by the school system. Cause the ‘gifted’ kids at least had adults backing them up at their earlier stages and maybe even after they started to struggle (‘you used to be a star student and I know you can still pull it off! You just need to work harder, but you still have so much potential and I wanna help you reach it) but ‘normal’ or ‘bellow average’ students didn’t have that at all. I wanna hear their stories of being compared non-stop to other people in their class or even being compared to their siblings. I want to hear how these things affected them cause you know for damn sure that these things caused major psychological damage. That’s what I really wanna hear. And I’m sorry if you feel like this is a personal attack, but really, it is not. The system fucked each and every one of us over but I’m sick and tired of hearing the same snob stories from the people who where favored. I wanna hear the stories of the people who where cast aside and not given a second glance. And I think we are long overdue in hearing THOSE voices.
