I don’t know if you’ve actually seen this episode, but Pam invites the entire office to her art show that she’s been gearing up for for a really long time. Nobody shows up except for Oscar and his partner (and they critique her work, calling her “lacking in courage” among other things, not realizing she is standing right behind them) and then Michael. And Michael is the only one who tells her she is great just for putting herself out there, and the only one who places value on what she’s done, and he points out all the little details she got right and notices absolutely every bit of hard work she put into it. And then treats Pam like the artist she is by not just paying her for her art, but displaying it where literally everyone can see it.

It’s one of my favorite episodes.

·         We’re closer to having successful vaccines for lung and brain cancer.

·         New chemotherapy breakthroughs have increased the 5-year survival for pancreatic cancer from 16% to 27% (and is getting better)

·         Scientists figured out how to link robotic limbs with the part of the brain that deals with intent to move so people don’t have to think about how they will move the limb, it can just happen.

·         Child mortality is down everywhere and it keeps going down.

·         Thanks to the ice bucket challenge the gene responsible for ALS has been found, meaning we are closer to an effective treatment. Let me rephrase that: we are close to getting a treatment for a very bad disease because a lot of people (including really hot celebrities) got wet.

·         A solar powered plan circumnavigated the world.

·         Michael Jordan donates 2mil to try and help bridge connection between police and the community.

·         Tiger numbers are growing.

·         And manatees.

·         And pandas.

·         Pakistan has made strides toward outlawing honor killings.

·         70,000 Muslim clerics declared a fatwa against ISIS.

·         Pokemon Go players went insane with placing lure modules near hospitals for sick kids.

·         California is now powering over 6 million homes with solar power, a record in the US (and that is the tightest shit)

·         Volunteers in India planted 50 million trees in 24 hours.

·         Apparently world crime as a whole has drastically declined as a whole in the last couple of decades.

·         Coffee consumption has been proved to help curtail cancer and suicide rates.

·         Speaking of coffee Starbucks figured out how to donate perishable food in a food safe way.

·         We made massive strides in Alzheimers’ prevention (my grandmother literally told me that scares her more than getting cancer this is very good news)

·         The ozone layer is repairing itself and all the work we did to get rid of those aerosol chemicals was actually worth it.

·         A new therapy developed in Israel could cure radiation sickness.

·         The Anglican church resolved to solemnize same-sex unions the same as opposite-sex unions which required a super majority of all three orders of the church (lay, clergy, bishop).

·         The Rabbinical Assembly issued a resolution affirming the rights of transgender and non-conforming individuals.

·         Precision treatments for cancer are hitting clinical trials and WORKING (as someone who’s had relatives with cancer this is the best news)

·         Dentists are once again providing free care to veterans who need it.

·         The Orlando Shakespeare Festival showed up with angel wings to block funeral-goers for the Orlando Pulse victims, view from anti-gay protesters

·         We may have cured MS

·         Rise Women’s Legal Centre opened

·         Death by heart disease has decreased by 70% in the United States

·         Two brothers saw color for the first time thanks to specially-designed glasses

·         Kubo and the Two Strings. Haven’t seen that yet as well but its Laika so I know it’s a masterpiece

·         Deadpool. The beautiful and super accurate R-rated marvel film

·         Captain America: Civil War. Seriously is the best marvel movie yet in my opinion I need more.

·         Zootopia. Oh don’t mind me I’m just a movie that tackled the issue of racism and not only game changed animated films but also made a billion dollars

·         The Hamilton Mixtape is coming out. Which is a bunch of artists singing songs from the musical (Sia, Usher, Regina Spketor, etc.) I’m excited.

·         A personal victory for myself, I joined Tumblr and met angels in blog form so…that’s uplifting.

·         And I met my favorite voice actor at a con which was a bucket list accomplishment.

Sad that people are judging people’s grieving processes. Sure, we don’t know exactly what is happening with them, but if people are saddened by people potentially breaking up after a 2 year year relationship, let them be. That’s not license to put it in their personal tags, of course, but it is okay to grieve. 

Personally, as someone who has followed the couple and even wrote plenty of stories about the two, it kind of feels like a piece of me. Being a Grester writer has been a part of me for awhile, and I feel lost without that part of my tumblr experience. Regardless, it’s MY choice on how to feel, not anybody else. So judge all you want, but it’s not going to change how I feel.

it's extremely unhealthy that you're own happiness teeters on the relationship of a couple of strangers. that relationship is their business and should have no bearing on your personal life what so ever. they are real people- not some television show that you get to have an opinion about. listen- it's obvious they care for each other deeply, but just because you think they're perfect for each other- does not mean they are. break ups aren't always a bad thing- especially if it's best for them.

I get the distinct impression, anon, that you sent this message purely to antagonize me. That makes you an asshole. But let’s give you the benefit of the doubt and say you sent this message with some kind of positive intent, however couched in condescension.

I don’t know where the everloving fuck you’re getting the idea that I think Grace and Chester’s relationship is some kind of public commodity about which I can opine and which I can manipulate to suit my whims, that their relationship is anything but a very private and personal thing, and that breakups are always a bad thing - especially when I’m one person who has been making these very fucking comments to many people in this fandom since I entered the fandom itself - but suffice it to say, you can rest easy knowing I am very well aware of these facts, and that my lone priority is that they are happy, whether together or apart. Ending a relationship is frequently the best, sanest, and healthiest choice a couple can make. It was the best thing my parents ever did for me. I understand that more intimately than you will ever know.

Grace and Chester made the decision to make portions of their relationship visible to us. Those portions they chose to share with us have meant a great deal to me and to a lot of people in this fandom. We are entitled to grieve the loss of something that has meant a lot to us. Everyone is entitled to mourn a loss, no matter how stupid some people might think it is. People are entitled to mourn when their team loses the World Series - and I, as a person who could give a shit about baseball, am not entitled to go up to them and tell them they’re being unhealthy about it. People are entitled to mourn when their favorite television show ends - and I, as a person who didn’t watch that television show, am not entitled to go up to them and tell them to accept it and move on. Hangrid shippers were entitled to mourn when Hannah and Ingrid ended their relationship - and I, as someone who was not terribly invested in that relationship, made the choice to not be a total dickwad and tell them to get over it. And Grester shippers are entitled to mourn this loss, and you are not entitled to tell us how to feel about it. It is you who is preaching unhealthiness by suggesting that people who feel a deep sense of loss over all of this are in some way “wrong” for how they feel.

My own happiness does not now and has not ever “teetered on the relationship of a couple of strangers.” I have a career, schoolwork, family, friends, a partner, a cat, other fandoms, and a life outside of this fandom. I will not deny that Grester has contributed a lot to my happiness and sense of optimism over the last couple of years - that’s why I’m grieving right now. But there’s a pretty wide fucking gulf between shedding a few tears or taking some time off from certain social media platforms and sinking into a depression so low someone can’t leave her bed. The former strategies are perfectly healthy coping mechanisms. The latter is not. (And as a public service announcement, if anybody is out there in a state of depression that deep about recent events, sending them an anon message like this is going to do way more harm than good.)

You might also consider that, on a personal level, I am also grieving the fact that with the end of their relationship comes the end of my Grester fanfic writing journey, which has meant more to me than I can explain. This means I have to scrap dozens of works in progress and dozens more ideas that I was really excited about. I am also entitled to mourn the loss of a big chunk of my life that was dedicated to writing and the loss of those works in progress into which I had already put time and energy.

I find it laughable that I’m being critiqued for “policing the fandom” when I myself am being policed for an emotion. Christ. Take several seats.

Lazy Days, Part One

Disclaimer: I almost debated posting this. I obviously know about the giant debate in the fandom- are they, aren’t they? Frankly, it’s none of our business and I’m not going to speculate. Their lives are there lives. That being said, I love writing, and wanted to share this regardless. While the people are real, obviously it’s a work of FICTION and should be treated as such. Anyways, hope you enjoy!

Sunlight peeped in from a break in the curtains, illuminating the bedroom. The only sound to be heard was the soft snoring of the doggy princess perched at the bottom of the bed.  Unbelievably long legs attached to an adorably awkward blonde stretched across the California King bed, leaving very little space for the man whose arm was draped across his companion. Despite his confinement, he slept soundly, perhaps exhausted from yesterday’s log agenda.  This was rarely the scene for the couple currently in dreamed bliss. The signs of their busy lives were strewn across the room- discarded drafts of scripts, hastily thrown clothing and shoes littered the otherwise pristine space. Usually you could find one of the two occupants running around, mumbled curses filling the room as they were bound to be late to whatever project meeting they were supposed to be heading towards already. Hurried goodbyes, quick kisses that barely graze the lips, and rushed words of ‘love you’ were characteristics of their mornings. Today was different. For the first time in a long time, they were both free. By the time 11 am rolled around, the blonde slowly stretched, feeling all the tension from their awkward position as she tried to untangle her limbs without alerting him. Her gaze fell upon his sleeping form and the light that gently framed his handsome features. She really didn’t want to move from their little haven. Between their busy schedules and long days, they rarely got to spend time with each other, and she wanted to take advantage of every second she could. Her bladder had other plans, and she was trying her best to sneak to the bathroom without waking him up. Despite her best efforts, he woke suddenly, aware of the cold beginning to invade his body as her warmth was snatched away.

 “Where are you trying to sneak off to?” He peered at her from half-lidded eyes, trying to hide his disappointment. He thought that they could take advantage of their rare alone time together, but he was worried that she had other plans.

 The sight of his rumpled hair and the saddened look in his eyes made her heart skip a beat and her palms sweat. Even after the past two years, he could still invade her soul with a happiness and love she never expected. She immediately cursed her job for keeping her from him- no matter how much she loved what she did, she loved him even more.  “Don’t worry baby”, she winked, “the only thing that’s keeping me from a much needed day in bed with you is my bladder.”  At the sound of the bathroom door closing, the dog immediately jumped on top of the poor man, covering his face with kisses. The sight had the leggy blonde in stitches. “I’m gone for two minutes and you manage to get a bitch in our bed,” she managed to get out between giggles. The bitch in question wiggled her tail, and took off to find some dog toy to destroy while her owners cuddled in bed.

 “You’re the only bitch for me,” he responded, earning a playful shove from his girlfriend. Before he could blink, she began to tickle his sides, inciting a serious tickle war. Two accidental fingers to the eye later, and one elbow to the stomach later, she settled into his chest. For a few minutes, they contentedly slide into a comfortable silence but for the sound of their synchronous breathing. “What’s on the agenda for today”, he asked eventually, not wanting to move but willing to do anything with her as long as he got in some quality time.  “Are you thinking what I’m thinking”, she answered him with a wink. This was going to get quite dirty…
