Yuba River, CA
Ananda's Expanding Light spiritual retreat karma yoga program was an amazing place to be for 3 weeks. Here are photos from the center's sprawling lands - sunset ridge, lotus lake, a neighboring barn, etc.
Spent a lovely week in Healdsburg, CA - the lovely town in which my cousin lives and where three Sonoma winemaking valleys - Dry Creek, Russian River, and Alexander - meet. The photos include views of various vineyards and Sonoma Lake!
Drove the PCH from San Francisco to my cousin's house in Healdsburg on June 21.
As the sun rose over July 16, I drove to a dear friend's empty home in Woodacre, CA. July 16-17 were a mini art-writing retreat, which also included a wonderful meditation session at Spirit Rock (where I found the two white horses) and a short hike in the Gary Giacomini Land Preserve. So many gems in this area!
On July 10, I resumed my drive on the Pacific Coast Highway, this time from San Luis Obispo to San Francisco. The landscape was sheerly stunning, heightened by the amazing interaction between sky, land, and sea.
On July 9, I drove from San Diego to San Luis Obispo on the Pacific Coast Highway.
In San Diego, I took a series of hikes through Torrey Pines on July 6 - definitely worth trucking around the heavy digital camera and the large format one too (though those images still lie latent on the undeveloped film).
Drove from Tahoe to LA on June 30 via US-395. Another lonely but gorgeous drive. Great views of Mono Lake from afar!
Here are a couple snapshots from Lake Tahoe June 25. The double rainbow was really a treat.
At Squaw Valley Community of Writers Poetry Workshop June 21-28, I was able to go on some beautiful hikes. Here are some images from those excursions.
On June 20, I made the trek from Delta, Utah to Incline, Nevada on the "Loneliest Road in America" - excruciating in beauty and sheer size.
On June 19, I left Aspen to drive to Lake Tahoe. The Utah desert along I-70 West was marvelously red-blue.
I climbed up Smuggler's Mountain to the observation point.
Went on a serene and easy hike at Maroon Bells, just outside of Aspen. So stunning
On June 16, I drove from Denver to Aspen, CO via Independence Pass. One of the most beautiful drives of all time!
