Morning // Orla & Open

The bluntness with which Zach spoke with made her feel guilty if that wasn’t how she already felt before. She didn’t respond to the letter for the reason that she didn’t send her already written and prepared one, because she didn’t know if she was ready to open up like that to him. Her mouth opened once to say something, anything, but she shut it again. Even though he was acting like it didn’t really matter that she ignored his letter, it did. She knew it did. If she didn’t say anything now then she would just have to watch him suffering in quiet torment for the next three weeks. Be brave, she told herself before replying to him.
“I’m sorry… I wanted to write to you. I even wrote out a letter for you, but,” She licked her lips before speaking again, as her mouth grew dry with the anticipation of what saying these next words meant. “My father went missing during the War. I know you probably know that, lots of people do with him being an Auror, but yeah… I don’t like talking about it, I don’t like it being real; it’s so real now though. They found his wand over Christmas Break. I know it’s not an excuse, but that’s why I didn’t send you a letter. Partly because I didn’t want to be honest about it and also I wanted to just tell you everything and you’re going through enough!” Her voice was raising as she got through her speech. He probably wasn’t expecting her to say anything like that. She pushed on through despite the fact that she was finding it harder to speak. “I-I want to be here for you if you still think I’m dependable enough.”
Zacharias’ interest grew the second she said she did write a letter to him and he felt better of himself- he thought it was stupid at first, for sending her a letter after they’ve went out just once. But, then- when she didn’t reply to it; he felt even more stupid and it had never happened to him before. It was all new to him, maybe to Orla too but what was the best thing of all was that he still felt a little odd about it. When she started opening up to him though, his features softened and he forgot any kind of angry thoughts he had about her or about the letter- he felt horrible because her dad was missing and his dad had been one of the Death Eaters that maybe contribuied to such a thing.
“ I’m really sorry about your father,” he finally spoke- and your endless war with this. He did want to add that, but he chose not to. He took a step closer as she finished talking and he felt terrible.” You could have told me, I wouldn’t have reacted badly.” he continued as he brought her close to him by wrapping his arms around her, a sigh exhaling right besides her ear. “ You can tell me anything, no matter if I’m having my trials soon or not.”
