“i’m what?” abel stiffens at her suggestion, overreacting? if emi wasn’t going to like what he was about to say then maybe she should have just forewarned him beforehand. ‘be happy, act cool, it’s no big deal, i’m not going to get hurt we’ll be back before you know it’. “i get that you’re not going to be able to teach a few classes but is this villian really as dangerous as you say?”

     The alarming fervour lit in her which prompts her to make the strange declaration in the first place is extinguished just as swiftly in the face of August’s customary smugness. As he begins his list, she half-tunes him out, sudden aghast embarrassment sweeping over her as she realizes to whom she has bamboozled herself into believing, just briefly, is a charming boy. It’s half the fault of the damned setting sun, she thinks with sudden vitriol, squinting up accusingly at its retreating figure before her gaze falls back to the source of her agony. Something about the soft look of his hair as the wind rifles through it, too–he’s grown it out again today, she thinks, and has steadfastly avoided remarking on it against his best efforts.

     “…Never mind. T'was but a fleeting madness of mine…” She mutters, sharp brows notching downwards as she regards him. Against her will, her ears burn, and she swiftly turns her head to the side, tugging at a stray ringlet. “And it’s a shameful look to fish for compliments!” Not that she’s in any place to speak reproachfully on that matter.

“fleeting madness or not your eyes are as good as your ears.” the list goes right back into his pocket, and without a pen on him to write something about how madness was just another incredulous fan symptom his thoughts stop with a quick chuckle. august thinks himself to be quite the shojo manga male lead; not that he’s ever gotten past seeing all the popular male characters with their own tailing fan groups. one can be satisfied enough believing that he’s meant to be there and that some popular characters still don’t have as much innate charisma as he does with the list gone the red hero pulls out an imaginary rod of his own, playing around with his first casting throw before reeling back and tossing his arms out through an open hallway window. “it’s not shameful if you know that you’re the best catch.” august would put his own hook in his mouth if it meant he could the biggest catch of the day, though it would be even better if he were to be thrown right back into the open ocean. to become a thing to beautiful and amazing to kill and to be the one that survives almost imminent death. turning he offers ringo the imaginary rod and somewhere a lure bobs miles off, maybe it got caught in a tree or maybe the hook lands right where the story of the catch would be appreciated the most.

“odd feelings?” august pulls out a slip of paper from his back pocket one could say the list of adjectives there makes up half his vocabulary already. “do you think i’m adorable, adventurous, brainy, brave, charming, cheerful, bright, attractive, cooperative, courageous, colorful, clever, delightful, determined, distinct, cute, curious, encouraging, expensive, famous, fancy, fantastic, fine, famous..” as he reads he flicks at each word individually before looking towards ringo for any physical confirmation, any subtle agreements that of course august is as good as each of these words suggest.

"i’ll be careful!!” koichi sings gliding back and forth on the ground as if he was his own rocking chair. it eases his nerves for just a bit after they’ve managed to finally get their breaths back. “i know we managed to get away but i don’t think this villian has any kind of tracking quirk and they’re already in custody...” this comes after already being singled out by the villain themselves. their specific threat to killing the crawler and his kin for the rest of eternity was a bit bone chilling. “running away is part of my forte! i think i’ll be safe till next week!”

“IT’S FINE I CAN RUN AWAY ON MY OOOOWON--!!” this isn’t much of a surprise for him; someone throwing koichi over their shoulder in the middle of a retreat. “i really am fine on my own! i didn’t mean to bother a hero on their day off but....wait you aren’t taking me to the cops are you?” koichi wiggles as his nerves begin to bleed out and he’s shocked to learn that he’s stuck in her vice tight grip. maybe if he could get her distracted....

“.......hey....”  the grin splitting from his lips get’s wider as he leans in a bit further down to get to ringo’s eye level. “are your platforms taller than normal? is that how you’re able to get up this high?” craning his head to look behind her he hasn’t noticed a flurry of bats keeping her off the ground.

“i-i didn’t mean.... i just got so caught up in the moment. the cake is so good. d-don’t please tell the professor i said something so inappropriate i don't want be kicked out from class!!” she would have preferred to have her third slice of cake saved for when she got home tonight but almost immediately does fiona break her desert from it’s jail and start eating it. i guess that means she has to buy a fourth one before she leaves and before kei can notice “work has just been so stressful and i’m not banking on becoming a hero but if i could maybe trade jobs. i think.... i think.... i wouldn’t be so out of it.”

“was i mumbling?” abel asks himself before scratching at the small memo underneath his hand. “the public safety commission wants to test me..” the words fall out of his mouth slowly like he wasn’t sure how to place them as he circles the date on his planner.  “do you think they’re trying to shut us down?”

“i don’t need anything from you actually!” kicking off from his feet august does a complete rotation on the stool before sauntering towards the medical cabinet. what he really wanted was an audience, or more specifically a witness. “i don’t think you treat me that well compared to the other students! so i’ve decided to take a few bandages and wipes for myself and do the healing all on my own!” the bag is paper; remnants of the lunch he left school property in order to get. “i just needed you to watch while i grab a few things! that way my record can be clear and you all know that i’m not some thief!”
