IMPORTANT UPDATE AND NEWS RELATED TO OUR 8TRACKS PLAYLISTS. PLEASE READ THIS
Since 8tracks closed on december 2024 I've been trying to find information about the site or its possible revival and true is sadly at the moment 8tracks is dead and it won't comeback BUT THIS MESSAGE IS NOT RELATED TO THAT, I ACTUALLY HAVE NEWS ABOUT OUR PLAYLISTS AND THEY COME FROM A DIFFERENT PLACE, FROM A PRIMAL SOURCE. PLEASE, KEEP READING TO KNOW MORE:
Few months ago one friend, who is really interested in 8tracks like me, for fun and boredom wrote a message to the official 8tracks tumblr account saying she misses the site and thinking no one will read it and guess what happened? Coincidentally at the same time one of the co-founders of 8tracks (Remi Gabillet) logged in from that account, he was online and he answered (yeah, it seems the password keeps being the same after they sold the company).
Here the screenshot of their conversation:
AND YOU WON'T BELIEVE WHAT HAPPENED NEXT! REMI THEN WROTE HER IN PRIVATE! AND HE TOLD HER SOME IMPORTANT STUFF, HE SAID THAT BEFORE THEY SOLD THE COMPANY ON 2020 HE MADE A BACK UP OF ALL OUR PLAYLISTS, THAT HE HAVE IT AND THAT NOW THAT 8TRACKS IS DEAD HE COULD THINK ON POST THEM ONLINE.
Here the screenshot of that message:
That's all he said and then he stopped talking with her and we couldn't contact him again but this is huge because yeah, 8tracks is dead but at least we know our playlists are secure and safe and in good hands.
Now it's already 2026 and I think we need to recover our playlists and have them with us and this is why I ask to anyone who reads this message and who is interested in 8tracks and their playlists to help me to try to find and contact Remi Gabillet, I believe that if we collectively ask him he could do it sooner.
P.D.: I did found where Remi Gabillet is working right now so if you are interested in help me with this mission write my by dm or a by a reply. I think if we work together at least we could make it happen!

So Antonio Meic, "CTO of 8tracks" according to him, gave an statement, funny, without answering any of our questions but before I get full on this I would like to mention I did a little research about him and what I found? This Antonio Meic is an scammer, that leaves debts and dead projects behind him, every previous project of his ended the same way. Don't believe? Just google "Antonio Meic reddit" and you'll see, I took some screenshots of some posts and articles related to him, apparently this is his modus operandi.
Here some screenshots of what I found about him, just look at the comments translated to english:

Now, about his statement today on discord, this is what he posted today:
I got mad after reading this because he didn't answer any of our previous questions so I posted this:
After doing that I left the server and what did Antonio Meic did? He called me toxic, look:
After I left the server some guy contacted with me, he said he wanted to not share his name but he told me he worked with him before he took 8tracks and he said Antonio is an expert scammer, that he has plenty of debts with several people, he even said to me that it's possible he scammed Jeffrey Treichel too, the new CEO of 8tracks because that's what he always does, he said that basically 8tracks is gone and he must have our data but he also said:
"In theory yes but there's 0 developers working on the project there so no one technical is there to actually give you a way to get your data"
Please, share this message to anyone you meet and uses 8tracks, it's important, make it viral, people need to know what kind of man is in charge of a company like 8tracks (althought it's pretty much dead) but mostly every 8tracks user out there needs to know their personal information and data (years of making playlists) is in hands of a scammer.

As many of you know the past weeks I've been giving you updates about what's happening with 8tracks and if you read my last post you know I said that the last thing "the CTO of 8tracks" said was that he'll have a meeting with the CEO to talk about the plans they have to secure a funding. Well, 11 days since that happened, days where the ones who joined the server asked too some questions and concerns about recovering our data, about why they haven't post any of the information they gave us in the 8tracks official sites (twitter, tumblr, their blog, instagram, facebook) and yet we didn't get any response, not about the meeting neither answers to those mentioned questions and if you want me to be more specific he appeared two times these last 11 days, one to say "Hi" and that he was sick and the other day he appeared (yesterday) was to say again "Hi all" and that he'll reply to us "today" but again, nothing happened.
As you can see, this situation made angry to lot of the users who joined that server but mostly we're disappointed for the attitude of this man Antonio Meic who calls himself the CTO of 8tracks and how he is managing this server, he literally put the link to a telegram gc and a discord server and so far he just answered one time since I joined. We're not only worried about losing our data (he basically said we could lose our data forever if their plan with this MixerFM app fails) but we're also worried about this whole crypto thing (we all know how that works) and about their lack of communication, something that they have been doing since the bought 8tracks from David Porter and co in 2020.
When I saw the post of @tumbling-and-tchaikovsky weeks ago I was really excited and had hope there was a chance to bring back 8tracks but after some weeks in that server I can certainly say that all we had in this time are more doubts and questions than clear answers, I kinda feel scammed AND BECAUSE OF THIS REASON IS THAT I'M ALSO POSTING THIS, NOT ONLY TO TELL YOU WE SHOULDN'T TRUST THIS MAN/GROUP OF PEOPLE BUT ALSO TO NOT DONATE ANYTHING IF THEY EVER ASK US TO DO THAT.
Finally, I would like to say that I'll keep continue with the updates of whatever this "CTO" tells us but please, let's take with a grain of salt everything he says, we don't trust him and you shouldn't either.
P.D. = Our main goal right now is to find a way that everyone recovers their data so if any of you would like to help us with that join that server but not as fans who want to donate or help them with the launching of that MixerFM app, join the discord server to pressure him to give us our data, it's our right and we deserve the access to our information one way or another but remember too we need to be smart, don't be agressive but neither passive.

So guys, I wasn't the best mood today and maybe because of it I ended up asking Antonio Meic about some of our main concerns about 8tracks, concerns like:
The lack of communication they had all this time on their 8tracks official accounts, specially since december 2024 and this current situation.
The evidence we need to know that whatever they are saying is true.
The responsibility for raising funds is primarily theirs, not ours.
It's not fair we should lose our data if anything they do fail.
And I think the persistence was worth it because Antonio ended up saying he's planing to do and "ask me anything video call this Saturday", that sharing the message on their official accounts is a good idea and that he'll have a call with Jeffrey Treichel (the CEO of 8tracks) and they'll coordinate!!!
Here the screenshots of the conversation:
So that's it for today, and please, if they get to share any message on any of the 8tracks official accounts share it (rt here, on twitter, anywhere).

As I said on my earlier post today the CTO of 8tracks answered some questions on the discord server of mixer.fm
IF YOU'RE INTERESTED IN INFORMATION ABOUT 8TRACKS AND THE ANSWERS THE CTO OF 8TRACKS GAVE, PLEASE, KEEP READING THIS POST BECAUSE IT'S A LOT BUT YOU WON'T REGRET IT.
Okay, so he first talked about how they were involved in buying 8tracks, then how everything failed because of money and issues with the plataform then he talked about this new app called MixerFM they developed that works with web3 (8tracks is a web2 product), that if they get to launch it they'll get to launch 8tracks too because both apps will work with the same data.
Here is what they have already done in his own words:
*Built a multitenant backend system that supports both MIXER and 8tracks
*Fully rebuilt the 8tracks web app
*Fixed almost all legacy issues
*Developed iOS and Android apps for MIXER
What is next?
They need to migrate the 8tracks database from the old servers to the new environment. That final step costs about $50,000 and on his own words "I am personally committed to securing the funds to make it happen. If we pull this off since there is a time limit , we will have an chance to launch both 8tracks and MIXER.
… so for all you community members that are pinging me to provide more details on X and here on discord, here it is"
Here the screenshots of his full statement:
NOW THE QUESTIONS HE ANSWERED:
*I transcribed them*
1. "What's the status of the founding right now?"
"Fundraising, for music its difficult"
2. "Our past data, is intact, isn't?"
"All data still exists from playlist 1"
3. "Will we be able to access our old playlists?"
"All playlists if we migrate the data will be saved. If we dont all is lost forever"
4. "How will the new 8tracks relaunch and MIXER be similar, and how will they be different?"
"8tracks / human created / mix tape style as it was before
mixer - ai asiated mix creation, music quest where people earn crypto for work they provode to music protocol ( solve quests earn money for providing that service )"
5. "Why is 8tracks being relaunched when they could just launch MIXER with our 8tracks database?"
"One app is web2 ( no crypto economy and incentives / ) mixer is web3 ( economy value exchange between users, artists, publishers, labels, advertisers) value (money) is shared between stakeholders and participants of app. Company earns less / users / artist earn more."
6. "Will we need to create a separate account for mixer? Or maybe a way to link our 8tracks to mixer?"
"New account no linking planned"
7. "What do you mean by fixed almost all legacy issues and fully rebuilt the 8tracks web app?"
"We have rebuilt most of 8tracks from scratch i wish could screen record a demo. In Last year we have rebuilt whole 8tracks ! No more issues no more bugs no more hacked comments"
8. "Will the song database be current and allow new songs? For example if someone makes a K pop playlist theres the capability for new songs and old not just all songs are from 2012. There will be songs from 2020 onwards to today?"
"Current cut of date is 2017, we have planed direct label deals to bring music DB up to speed with all new songs until 2025. This means no more song uploads"
9. "The apps would be available for android and outside USA?"
"USA + Canada + Germany + UK + Sweden + Italy + Greece + Portugal + Croatia
in my personal rollout plan / but usa canada croatia would be top priority"
10. "Will 8tracks have a Sign in with Apple option?"
"It will have nothing if we don’t migrate the database but yes if we do it will have it"
11. ""Will Collections return?"
"Ofc
If we save the database its safe to assume collections will return"
12. "Will the 8tracks forums return?"
"No that one i will deleted
People spending too much time online"
13. "No more songs uploads forever or no more songs until…?"
"Idk, this really depends on do we save database or no. Maybe we restart the process of song uploads to rebuild the and create a worlds first open music database
If anyone has any songs to upload that is
We operate under different license"
14. "What is your time limit? for the funding, I mean"
"Good question
I think 2-3 months"
15. "From now?"
"Correct"
16. "When is the release date for Mixer?"
"Mixer would need 2-3 more months of work to be released
Maybe even less of we would use external database services and just go with minimum features"
17. "Do you have the link for it?"
"Not if we dont secure the database that is number one priority"
*That was the end of the questions and answers*
Then he said:
"You need to act bring here (discord) people and help me set up go fund me camping of investor talks fail so we secure the database and migrate data so we can figure out whats next"
He also said he'll talk with the CEO about buying him the idea of community funding, that all who participate should have a lifetime subscription and "some more special thing", we suggested a message on the 8tracks official accounts (twitter, their blog, tumblr) and he was okay with the idea but he said they need to plan it carefully since the time is limited.
Okay, guys, that's so far what he said, I hope this information helps anyone, I don't know if they get to do a community funding but take in consideration it's a plausible option and that what they want from us is to participate in any way like for example spreading the message, if most people know about it the best, they also want you to join their server so here's the link to the website of mixerfm and where you can join the server:

By the way, if you have a twitter account, could you rt his answer? We need people to find out about this:

Thanks to the post and the information @tumbling-and-tchaikovsky posted days ago about her conversation with one of the founders of BackBeat (new admin of 8tracks since 2020) and where he said that 8tracks is not dead...Well, I got to join the discord server that's inside the link Antonio Mec posted and I found new information that if it's true this news will make happy every 8tracks fans out there: They told me that yes, 8tracks is not dead, that the app/website is on a hiatus, they even gave me a date, apparently the plan is to bring it back on september 2025 and the plan is also to launch an app related to 8tracks called MixerFM (they said both will use the same data), this new app will be released aprox in 40 days.
You can read the full info here, next to some screenshots I took of my conversation:

As I said, once inside the discord server I talked with someone who said that is friends with the new admin aka BackBeat, this person told me that no, 8tracks is not dead, that the plan is to bring back 8tracks in september 2025 and that the new administration will launch too an app that'll use the same data as 8tracks called MixerFM, this new app will be launched aprox in 40 days, both apps aka 8tracks and MixerFm will be related...or at least that's what they told me.
Just like @tumbling-and-tchaikovsky I also have my doubts but let's hope this time they get to do what they want all in favour of such a beloved app like 8tracks was. Here some screenshots of my conversation:
