Why do you want to be a therapist

I want to help others see that trauma and the narratives others place on us our whole lives do not define us. And that we can shift those narratives to fit our lives more completely. And I want to be a therapist that recognizes these sociocultural narratives and how they can imprison someone within a feeling of isolation and disconnection. Life doesn’t have to be ruled by the thoughts of others, or the perceptions they have of us, we can accept ourselves for every amazing facet we we were born with. I truly care about others so much and I want them to see that the meaning of “normal” is extremely ableist and restrictive and that we do not have to ascribe value in our lives according to what everyone else seems normal or true. We all deserve happiness! That is the only truth!
