Cindy mulled over Gwen’s words for a moment, taking a breath to compose her thoughts. “I’m glad you’re okay. If something had happened, I don’t think I could have forgiven myself.”
Cindy froze, a blank expression on her face as she processed what Gwen had just said. “I’m sorry, I don’t understand -- how do you know about my parents? What hole?”
"You Asgardians can’t accept compliments either, huh?”
“—yeah, I’m gonna be completely honest. I wasn’t paying attention to any of that.”
“ -- What?” Cindy blinked. “... Oh. Right. The meeting... I wasn’t listening either.”
Cindy’s face dropped. She stared blankly at Gwen, her mind running at a thousand miles an hour. “How do you know about them?” She asked, little emotion in her voice. “What hole?”
"You’re really weird.” Cindy couldn’t help but laugh. “I mean that in a good way.”
“C’mon man, you know you don’t have to explain anything to me.” Cindy offered him a half-smile, resting her chin on her knuckles. “Do you wanna play a video game or something? Get your mind off of things? Fairly sure Mario Cart is somewhere around here.”
“I can see that,” Cindy laughed. “You’re the life of the party, I bet.”
“Is it too much to ask for a break for like five seconds? The holiday break for school is comin’ up quick and I just want to sleep for a few days straight.”
“A break? Oh Peter, you do make me laugh. We definitely don’t get any of those.”
“I’m still not 100% sure if my thoughts are my own. So if I seem a little off… I’m sorry.”
Cindy slid the bowl of popcorn towards him, biting her lip in search of something to say. “You don’t have to apologise, Sam.”
“Who’s thrilled to have survived? This girl! Hi-five for not being dead.”
“Has anyone ever told you how adorkable you are?”
“I am officially done with the multiverse until otherwise specified.”
“I don’t blame you,” Cindy said, swirling her straw around her milkshake. “I... Still feel pretty shit about our mission together. Wasn’t very super of me.”
“Yikes. You’ve all sure made a mess this time, huh.”
“The biggest of messes,” Cindy shrugged. “You’d think superheroes would be better at avoiding this kind of shit.”
“Avengers v X-Men was such a good book, but this shit is dark in real life. I am living for this.”
"You’re enjoying this way too much,” Cindy paused. “I kind of love it.”
“Babe, I am calm.” Cindy resisted rolling her eyes. “You’re the one the apparent issues.”
Cindy shot Riri a cheeky smile. “What can I say? I can’t help myself.” She paused, watching Riri for a second. “You sure you wanna do this solo? It’s not bad to accept help.”
“I’ll be taking that as a compliment,” Cindy grinned, flicking her hair behind her shoulder. “You speak Korean?”
