Snæfellsjökull, van breakdown and a pretty spot to see while said van is being fixed :) The church is at Hote Budir and is gorgeous and the lounge is in the hotel as well.
Tuesday's hike to Hanging Lake and Spoutong Rock in Glenwood Canyon, CO. Great Iceland come down hike. It was magical.
Finally, I’m getting to writing about my recent, mind bending, gorgeous, indescribable and sometime inexplicable, trip to Iceland.
I’m sitting at Next Page in Frisco, CO where I’ll be this winter to hang with my very nice boyfriend, Wallace, and watch the snow fall, which just started and doesn’t seem to be stopping, today.
The first pictures, my fave, map pictures. From where I was coming from (after some annoying airport experiences, which ended up being expensive, but who cares! I needed to get to Iceland STAT), Denver to Reykjavik. Then, the most direct route from Keflavik airport to Hotel Budir, which we didn’t take, because I met professional photographer and old friend of Cassie, the bride, Wylda Bayron, and NYC hospitality pro, Leigh at the airport. Leigh had promised a $2 tour of Iceland and we got it.
I love the feel of Icelandair. I fell asleep almost immediately but was charmed, as I’m sure was their goal, by the commentary they left on their seats and pillows. The ceiling also glows with lights resembling the northern lights and I watched a 30 minute film of just northern lights. And then fell very asleep.
We drove south to see the Blue Lagoon, but since we landed at 6:30am we were much too early for the pools to be open. We got out of the car to take our first photos of the amazing lava fields covered in moss and get a shot of the Blue Lagoon structure, but I later learned, we should have walked up to the building. There are pools outside the soaking pools that are gorgeous and you can walk around any time.
Since I can only upload 10 photos at a time, these should be bite sized stories for you. And for me to write :)

Can’t even believe the places I saw I the last week. Custer National Forest being maybe my favorite. Even though it was freezing in late July.
I’m extremely happy at my family cabin in Wisconsin, can’t wait to get out and work some next week. And I also can’t want to find my next camp site.
All the feelings
ALL THE FEELINGS.
Points for being funny. More soon! I think/hope!
Going to Sunlight Basin Rd tomorrow. Loved Cody, Sierra Trading Post for more stakes, Jimmy with good steers and the view of Buffalo Bill Reservoir.
My car has descended into chaos
I thought that was worth noting. So much more. I'll have to find a place to take out my computer in Cody!
I'm still obsessed with Grand Teton National Park and Jackson, WY. Heading to Yellowstone after a great 4 days in which I hiked about 20 miles, slept 4 nights outside and went to my first rodeo and my first demolition derby. Demo derby was my favorite (outside the hiking!) I ate twice at Genevieve Cafe - outstanding cafe miel and eggs Benedict - and had a delicious sandwich at Creekside market. I've got my coffee to go and am heading to Yellowstone today. Good coffee at Creekside, too, I just ascertained. I hiked at the Laurence Rockefeller Preserve once alone and once with Louisa and Dave. Just to Lake Phelps and back both times, but that place is so pretty. And I did end up dunking my head in a little waterfall on the Woodland Trail as recommended to me by my friend Peter. I circumnavigated Lake Jenny in GTNP and then went back with Louisa and Dave to see Hidden Falls for the 2nd time and we hiked Cascade Canyon which has the initial uphill of Old Rag - woof - and the payoff of nothing I've seen before. I found where I would live if I was a bear and that is good information to have. We went to the iconic The Bird yesterday. I can't wait to go back there. I can't wait to come back to Jackson. I really like it here! The photos: Louisa in the parking lot at the preserve - their rental car and my home car :) One of the interpretation centers at the Preserve. Simply gorgeous. A purple van I would consider living in assuming I don't get the chance to be a bear. Hidden Falls, Jenny Lake, moose, inspiration point, Cascade Canyon and a selfie (duh) in Cascade Canyon looking east. Great trip. Onward!
These are of the Tetons and my hike around Lake Jenny in Grand Teton National Park yesterday. 9.1 miles is the longest hike I've been on in a while and now consider my participation in the "Summer of Health" sealed and unneeded to adhere to any longer 😜 I'm pretty obsessed with this park and feel like I may have found my park, as the NPS has been imploring people to do all summer. I have a lot of time to think, as many of you know, and yesterday spent a lot of time thinking about how I can help more people gain exposure to parks and beautiful places. The outdoors is too wonderful for people not to know it. I love all the interactions on trail, too. People from all over the world just happy to be walking in the woods. There's a boat across the lake which makes two points on the trail absolute mayhem but there was plenty of solitude between those points. The scenery is varied and I enjoyed a few moments of that divine pine forest smell and an amazing view of an Osprey on her perch beside her massive nest in the Alder Fire of '99 burned trees on the northwest side of the lake. Lots of wild flowers again and some fun, steep drop-off parts of the trail as well. Keeps you on your toes! I was genuinely confused when I came upon the Jenny Lake Overlook. Where the hell did all these people come from?! Ohhhh, they emerged from cars! Great hike. Went up to Hidden Falls and skipped Inspiration Point as I figured it was people ridden. Another time I'd like to go to Solitude Lake and Mica Lake up that way. My brother's and my friend from elementary- high school, Ben lives in Jackson and he and his girlfriend graciously invited me to dinner and take a shower at their place. Both were much needed! I rolled into my site last night at 11:30 and someone was parked in my camp and I was a little miffed. Then when I was all snug in my bed I felt safer with neighbors :) nice people from Indiana. Paid for my camping spot for two more nights and will get to see Louisa and Dave who are in town from DC this afternoon! Maybe some demolition derby tonight at the county fair? Adventures never cease.
