“Fishing without tea is like hunting … without tea. Yes, yes.” — Old Namazu saying
Finally done a little art for myself. Yes, it’s a bit of FFXIV fanart, of Namazu.
FFXIV has 2 modes of beast tribes: fugly and barbarically primitive … or positively adorable and child-like. Namazu falls squarely into the later.
And yes, they get drunk on tea. Like, completely blind and pickled.

Cookies for Mother
Breakfast had come and gone, leaving the commune’s kitchen free for other things until the start of lunchtime cooking. It was a medium sized room, with two cast-iron cooking stoves back to back in the center. In the southeast corner a brick oven had been built into the walls, a small fire burning underneath. To the left and right of the stoves, were two large butcher’s blocks. Cabinets filled…

We were asked all these questions about how long the costumes took us, how we did it, etc.
I paused the video right when we were asked how much money we spent on our cosplays and

THIS WILL NEVER NOT BE FUNNY
Hell done froze over: TokyoPop is returning to publishing five years after abruptly calling it quits and leaving all their licenses in the lurch. The “Message from TokyoPop” contains the usual Stu Levy bloviating. Looks like new books are in June.
Public Service Announcement to Young Artists:
TokyoPop is scum. Avoid working for them at all costs. TokyoPop is the worst of the worst of the worst. They will take advantage of you. Don’t believe their lies.
TokyoPop is notorious for the worst contracts in the industry. They pay little more than exposure. They have you sign away your trademarks, copyrights, moral rights*, and right to litigation. They will not make you famous. They are not more legitimate nor are they more effective than doing your own webcomic for free or selling photocopied zines directly to comic shops.
TokyoPop is so bad that SCAD banned TokyoPop editors from coming to their school to recruit. TokyoPop is so bad I can post on Tumblr publicly slamming them without worrying about damaging my career in the comics industry in any way.
Don’t just blindly believe me. Google “TokyoPop contracts” and see for yourself.
*moral rights essentially mean they have to give you credit for your work. How much is exposure worth if you give up that?
I am reblogging @gastrophobia’s reblog of my TokyoPop post because he says important and TRUE stuff. Do not trust them. Do not sign their awful contracts. Do not enter their shady “contests”. When they closed up five years ago, they did it so suddenly, all their editors & staff (many who were good people) were unemployed instantly with no warning. Also, never forget that the main reason Sailor Moon manga was unavailable in the US for over ten years was that Stu Levy majorly pissed off Naoko Takeuchi by doing SM merch without her permission or approval. Sure he had the license to translate the manga (which he did very badly), but he did NOT have permission to publish YA novelizations or make merchandise, which he ALSO did. I am also glad to see this post spreading so far, because when TokyoPop was first doing their OEL line and stealing the IP of young creators, us “old” folks in the industry (people like me, Lea Hernandez, Adam Warren and many others) tried to warn everyone about their shitty contracts, and we were dismissed as “haters” and told “you old people don’t know anything about the industry”. It gave us no joy when the contracts turned out to be even shittier than we thought. So much young talent, out of comics forever because they got fucked over.
Forewarned is forearmed. Baron and I got caught by Levy’s wake on a project. The results weren’t pretty. It’s not like I didn’t warn folks at the time too. >.<

Yup, this sounds a lot like too many of the campaigns I've been in. And run. ^.^
Lunysa by SmudgeDragon
And here she is, in all her poinsettia glory! Lunysa, James/Rindis’ Silvari Ranger done as a Christmas Gift. He was delighted with it and now is itching to get her framed and on his wall.
At some point I should do Ghyllan, my Silvari Dragonhunter and Lunysa’s questing partner, but I have no space on my walls to hang him if I do...
Tuppies The Enabler by SmudgeDragon
One of the drawings I did on Baron's Picardo stream last Saturday. Silver Tuppence seems to have become the party enabler when it comes to drinks (of any sort).
Young Arhun by SmudgeDragon
Since I'm currently poking at a 30sec animation project, I figured I'd do a drawing of Arhun, one of the characters. Though this turned out to be a slightly younger version of him.

^^^ Hero
Yeah, this is what the D&D party thinks they’re gonna be like, and then they show up and it’s all screaming and rolling 1s and the gnome’s on fire and the druid is making sarcastic remarks while the paladin disarms traps with his head.
