hello i know what youre thinking its “how do i become a successful musician” and let me tell you a few places where i went wrong
1. choose a very clear cut genre
2. move to a city
3. find people who are willing to be on tour for the next 10 years and then go on tour for 10 years
4. it helps immensely if you are rich or know people in the music journalism circle
5. never release any music until you are very, very good at it
6. never get a job, just do music
7. spend 10% of your time writing songs, 90% of it publicizing yourself
8. never play solo unless you’re a woman, men are boring
9. never play a show where you don’t get paid
10. don’t have a bandcamp
the last step is literally luck
at this point it is fairly obvious music was a terrible choice for me to focus on, and i wish i had realized that earlier. my dad was right. i could have $50,000 right now if i had just gotten any fucking job but instead i chose this.
i will regret it for the rest of my life.
