First Impressions

Alice watched him leap off of the roof and down into the darkness of the side alley, confused at the fact that he was off to go get pizza. She twisted her face at the thought of a large reptilian ordering pizza like a normal Joe off the street. Wouldn’t of it been better if she went to go get it. But a quick thought clouded her mind. “Is he actually coming back?” She didn’t panic, but she felt a sense of loneliness. She felt a real connection with Mikey. Like a friend she never had.
Almost jumping in fright, she was greeted by his return and the delicious smell that wafted from the pizza box he was holding. Clutching her chest and taking a deep breath in to settle her nerves, she smiled. She watched him set the box beside her, she quickly rotated her body from sitting side on to the box to it in front of her crossed legs. Her stomach felt like it was twisted into a knot as the smell of melted cheese and pepperoni hit her nostrils. She could feel her mouth start to salivate as she flipped open the lid of the box.
“Come sit, have some,” Quickly reaching for a large slice. It was so hot that the cheese almost slipped off of the slice. She quickly pointed the pizza up towards her mouth and took a large bite. It was so hot. The greasy cheese was burning the roof of her mouth, but she was too hungry to care. She pulled away from the slice, leaving a large stringy web between her mouth and the rest of the slice. She swallowed her bite and continued to eat, biting down on the crunchy pepperoni and crust. Finishing the slice, she grinned at him with greasy marks leading from her lips to the sides of her cheeks.
“How did you even get this?” She grabbed another slice and stuffed it into her mouth. “You know what, forget I asked,” She said with a mouth full of cheese and pizza bread. This was way better than staying home and eating alone. She enjoyed his company. He made her smile.

“Sorry, didn’t mean to scare you” he chuckled, settling down across from her when she told him to sit.
He grabbed himself a slice, practically inhaled it, then grabbed another as he watched her with amusement. “You really were hungry weren’t you? Dang, I’m glad I was able to get it.”
He was able to make it through piece number 3 before answering her. “It’s not a secret! I just have arrangements with places all over the city. They think I’m … well, someone else more or less. A celebrity who doesn’t want attention and just wants to have some meals in peace! Most of the time it just takes a quick call and there are no questions asked, but there are a few that actually know me as me. They don’t mind hooking me up and I tip good.” He winked at her. It paid to have been part of the city’s underground since he was born He actually had all his deals in place BEFORE he earner his status as a recluse semi-celebrity.
After his fourth piece he stopped for a moment, scribbling something on a torn piece of paper.
“Here’s my number by the way. I’ve always lived here and I know the city in and out. If you ever need anything or just want to hang out give me a call or a text or something. It’s not like I have a day job” he grinned. “I’m glad you like this pizza. It’s one of my favorites. Definitely my on -the-go-go-to!”

She watched him practically inhale half the pizza. She didn’t think anyone else loved pizza as much as she did but it was nice to know someone had a love for the greasiest, fattiest, yummiest food in New York City. She put half of the last slice of pizza in her mouth and grabbed the torn piece of paper from Mikey. She studied the digits and put the paper in her pocket. Smiling, she shoved the rest of the slice in her mouth. She swallowed and wiped her hands on her pants, trying to remove as much of the oil.
“I could never get tired of pizza. I could eat it for the rest of my life,” She turned her attention to her wristwatch and raised her eyebrows at the time. “11:30 already? I thought it was a lot later.” She stood up and brushed the crumbs off of her pants.
“You know, we could hunt around for crimes and stop some criminals if you want. Or unless it’s too late for you and you have to go to bed?” She smirked and stepped up on to the edge of the roof, looking at Mikey then down to the busy street.
She cocks her head to the right, facing away from him, putting her hands on her hips. “We could rule this city,” She tried doing her best Batman voice, “With you by my side we would be unstoppable.” She smirked and started laughing.
“Seriously though, come on, it might be fun,” She put her best puppy dog eyes on and pouted.
