It takes a village - Snow x Regina

āShhh.. itās okay, honey.. weāll be there soon.ā Snow soothed, the desperation evident in the crackling of her voice. She patted Nealās little bottom with one hand, trying to get him to take his pacifier with the other. Sheād given up on the stroller, never quite mastering how to open or close the darn thing. David was good at it, just like he was good with thier daughter, and the baby, if he was home he would have had Neal settled hours ago. Most of the time she found it sweet, but right now she was bitter and down right envious of how easy parenting was for David. Snow wanted to be a mother more than anything, but seemed to always fall short despite her best efforts. Sheād strapped Neal to her chest in his little carrier and covered him with his woolen blanket from granny, barely remembering to put on her own blue peacoat as she flew out of the loft in her house shoes and spit up stained night gown. ļæ¼
The last serval hours had been horrific for both mother and son. Neal refused to settle. Sheād paced up and down with him, taken him out, given him a bath, sang, changed him, tried to feed him. Nothing was calming him, sleep regression had officially set in and she had no idea what to do. Snow had bravely taken on nights alone so that David could give Emma a break at the station, thinking she was papered but she was living to regret her confidence. She didnāt want to call David or Emma, letting them how overwhelmed and under prepared for the baby sheād so desperately professed wanting in Neverland felt like the ultimate failure. So she turned to the only person sheād known to raise a child. The one who half raised her. Who snow still looked up to as a mother figure in many ways, as well as a friend now. Regina. Sheād been so wonderful with Henry, surely sheād know what to do.
Snow thought motherhood would be natural. She loved him, just as she loved Emma, but love wasnāt always enough. She should be meeting his needs, knowing what he needed instinctually, but all she tried he just continued screaming and screaming. It broke her heart, and she had a pounding headache from the stress and the shrillness of his sobs. She wanted nothing more than to sooth him, and she just couldnāt. Frustrated tears fell down her cheeks as padded through Reginaās front yard, right through her flowers, not caring that the grass was wet and her feet were now soggy and covered in dirt.
āRegina.. please. You have to help me.ā Pitifully she begged. Snow slapped her hand against the door after ringing the bell a couple of times, chocking on her words as she broke down finally in her former step motherās door way. Her head fell against a pillar, deflated, her cheeks were red and eyes puffy from lack of sleep. She was pulling him out of the sling, ready to willingly hand him over, feeling undeserving of being his mother in this moment. āItās Neal. Somethings wrong, He wonāt nurse. he wonāt sleep.. he hasnāt stoped crying for hours.. nothing I do works..ā She hiccuped pitifully. āI donāt know what else to do. I.. I canāt.. do this⦠Please. You have to take him.ā
