What I use: Crusty Gen 6 iPad with an even crustier, near broken gen 1 Apple Pencil (The Apple Pencil is lost rn) I bought off my brother 4 years ago. I draw in Procreate. I sketch using the basic ink bleed pen usually, line with the mercury oen, and i render with the basic rectangular brush for the most part. I occasionally use fancy texture brushes outside of that sourced from various places. I used a 3000x4000 (3k x 4k) canvas in the default RGB color system.
Re uploads: No. not even to other sites. Don’t use my shit for ai either. If you want to use my stuff in an edit / mood board / profile picture that’s fine though, please credit me (and if it’s an edit or moodboard feel free to @ me I’d like to see it!)

Thank you for answering my question based on Jäger. All I can think of now is some recruit/mechanic watching Jäger crawl out a wreck just to be told they weren’t a good mechanic because the helicopter blade was too loose. Imagine that!

Okay. So we all know Robert is… weirdly durable and capable for someone fresh out of a coma, and tanks that second explosion with suspiciously little damage, right?
Let’s be real, Robert’s pace of serious injury and living standards (and eating habits) aren’t particularly sustainable. A baseline human would be scrawnier than he already is post coma and dead on their feet. And yet here our boy is, holding his own in cqc with people far stronger than him, even in groups.
His muscle retention (he’s doesn’t have a dad of he’s on the scrawnier side of twunk at best) and stamina right out of a coma is insane, we’ve seen that workout scene, he’s not going easy on those weight amounts, even if he’s struggling somewhat. We never hear even a whisper of him doing it or stretches. He literally goes from still having an arm in a sling to forgoing it completely the next day, which can be put down to doctors precaution or whatnot, but still. Madman.
We als know the astral pulse lets off some crazy energy, and we still don’t fully know the nature of its creation. Or how it does what it does
I saw someone speculate that over time it sort of… buffs people around it a lot. And it kinda makes sense to me
If that’s true, then Robert is the physically sturdiest MechaMan to date. The others have probably had similar career lengths so far (17.5 years to average it out)
MM Astral died in ‘08. Robert seemingly took the mantle up rather immediately. For the next 15years after that? We know he’s basic living existing in that much suit constantly. And considering he got exposed to it as a teenager when he started, then it probably had even more of an effect on him since he was still growing for a couple years at the start possibly.
All that means he’d have years of exposure to an unknown and unrivaled power source that’s not been tested properly.
Yeah makes sense he’s operating weirdly.
Okay below is the more fanfic-ish concept of a plot
I wonder if Royd ever asks to a look at the actual astral pulse while Robert’s making repairs on the suit to try an analyze Shroud’s work on it. Cut to him properly looking at the readings later and asking Robert if he ever noticed any side effects from such constant interaction with it. Robert asks why and Royd tells him the thing is putting off some wild stuff, and it made him a little worried is all.
Robert takes inventory of himself, and aside from the usual chronic aches and pains but confesses that he feels about how one would expect someone who’s been a hero for 15 years to feel.
But over the coming days he starts to put little things together, and Royd does too. Robert is handling a panel that sheared off and it’s only at the end, after the rough edge has been dragging at his hand constantly, does it finally slice through. Having been rotating the idea in his head, remembers early on doing repairs like these, even with his hands covered in callouses like now, and the metal slicing cleanly through into the meat of his hand.
He notices when he goes to bandage it that his blood has an almost oily blue sheen to it. Something he’d always put down to the light of the suit or the cold toned night he only let himself inhabit once patrol had took every scrap of energy he had to offer.
He tries to brush it off still, a bit of the disintegrated paint smeared into his palm. Robert Robertson has run from himself for long enough, what’s a little more in the grand scheme?
But it doesn’t stop everyone else from noticing how fast he heals, later on. The kick to the ribs rhat sent sonar down for the count to the medbay for the rest of the day leaves only a deep purpling bruise on Robert. It’s gone in a couple days, while sonar is still whining and it’s painted stark olive greens on him.
Eventually, after a long and frank discussion, Robert agrees to take some tests, to find out just how much the pressure of his father had warped him, past notches in ears and worn down memories of late nights baby sat.
It kinda rattle him I think, while he was forming a personality and life outside of the suit, and healing from what was wrought on him and what he did to himself, he still has to deal with the bits of his personality he had wrapped around the concept of being a normie. To know that Mecha Man has taken away even that knowledge of his own body? It’s not a pretty thing.
The ZTeam? They’re feeling a quiet sense of thankfulness that their dispatcher (and he is most definitely theirs by this point) is just a little harder to kill. He’s been through enough, everyone on the team has. For just another lost person to be a bit harder to achieve is a blessing, even through all the feelings Robert has to deal with.
Do y’all think Robert ever curled up in that suit to sleep after patrol instead of that chair and pretended just once that it was his dad in there giving him comfort instead of grief with that walking coffin

I’ve got a temp solution for my missing stylus and so I’ve been able to hop back into digital art a little! Mostly through the form of working on coloring the sketches that @yee-harr made for our Undead AU!
I promise this AU has not been forgotten! Simply cooking in the background while bred and I are both busy behind the scenes and in day to day. Uni has me beat, I’m an art student so I’m always making just about anything except my personal projects lol.
I tried really hard to make the contrast between the smoother skin and the rough wounds really clear and I think I succeeded! I also worked to try and see if I could make all the guys look a bit pale, a bit bloodless, deathly, even :3. I like to think I succeeded!

So, hi hey hello I know tf2 wise and making my own art wise I've been a little radio silent. I promise I'm fine, life and summer was just busy and I've moved into Uni, all good things.
First off the bat, this piece is notable Not Digital Art, which is my usual medium for fanworks, I'll be honest my Apple Pencil is missing and im just not a good finger artist so I opted for a physical medium, and let Luna and Nota take the pick on what I do. Luna loves watercolors and so I went for that.
In a note wholly unrelated (lying) I haven't worked with watercolors well and truly in like a year at least, which presented struggles. Mostly I am an impatient bastard and hate waiting for things to dry, and my dorm desk, where this thing was taped down, has no near enough outlet for me to plug in a hair dryer. Oh the Agonies. So there's absolutely some spots where colors bled. If Heavy's face looks a little blue, no it does not.
Secondly, general drawing struggles! I made Heavy's flatcap too tall and oddly positioned looking to be normal, so the three of us came up with the silly idea that he's just knocking his hat off by accident because he's too in the zone while working, hence the wiggly little action lines.
Thirdly, I do hope the color pallette is glaringly atrocious enough, I think I made the books too bright for their comparatively dull desk, but IRL the desk has a lot more depth of color layered into it that doesn't photograph well. The kitchen was based off what contrasted the best, as well as some historical accuracy from old design magazines and recollections of our houses from Luna and I. The avocado green chair and salmon pink walls (baring the stripes, which I took artistic liberty on) are fic accurate though! The chair is also mostly based off a desk chair from my grandma's house. The tile backsplashes tile lay out is taken right from my old house, and the writing desk is a mix of the old one in my house and the one in my Grammy's house.
Anyways theres my usual blabber! Hope y'all enjoyed this one :) I'll be back uhhhh idk at some point. Maybe even with digital art! I've got a temp stylus. (no pressure sensitivity but its otherwise just fine).
