You cooked with “the sound of your voice”, I never like love triangles but I’m so invested in this
Thank you so much!!! I love this love triangle so much too, especially with the whole LottieNat ship in Yellowjackets; it makes it more exciting!!! I'm working on part two, so definitely stay tuned! ;)

lottie matthews x fem!reader 𖤓°⋆.ೃ࿔*:・ wc; 1400+ 𖤓°⋆.ೃ࿔*:・ summary: How the reader has dealt with Lottie Matthews being missing for 18 months, it was almost as if she took your spirit with you and left only your body to wander. 𖤓°⋆.ೃ࿔*:・ a/n: This is before the actual story, so it's just a little background. I'll definitely cover how Lottie and Reader met, too. Doing a part two on this soon, so stick around if you'd like! ;)
"Good luck, babe."
Those were the last words you uttered to your girlfriend, Lottie Matthews. As she left the passenger seat of the car, the night before she would go to nationals. You watched her walk into her house, not knowing that would be the last you would see her for 18 months.
18 months of sobbing into your pillow, walking the school halls alone, keeping track of the news for any new alerts, and watching what seemed to be most of the world forgetting about them within a month and a half.
Replaying that same memory in your head.
You should've told her you loved her.
What kind of girlfriend just says, 'Good luck, babe?'
You even wondered if this was your fault, I mean you weren't religious but maybe if you just.. just..
took her out more and didn't focus so much on your exams
went to more of her soccer practices and matches to cheer her on
wasn't afraid to be close to her in public for fear of judgment
There were so many other things you could've done, and maybe if you had done any of them, she would've made it to nationals, and right now you two would probably be downing Gino's burger with the Pixies playing in the background.
But no, you were alone in your car, staring at the burger you'd only taken a small bite out of, not listening to the Pixies — you hadn't touched that CD since she left, it still being in the CD player of your car.
You stared through your window at the night sky, in some empty parking lot, as you took another bite.
Lottie was alive; not one soul could convince you otherwise. Some family members would kind of bring in past tense words as if to say she's dead.
You could feel it so deeply in your bones that she was alive; you felt empty, yes, but not empty enough to be grieving her.
You even wondered what she was doing this moment, hoping that she was okay and not hurt, and wondered if she was thinking about you and all those moments together.
Tears prickled your eyes as they trickle down your cheeks as you put the burger to the side. You only ate this to try to keep anything between you and Lottie's alive.
The day you heard the news, you didn't find out on the radio or on TV.
No, you found out at your shitty job, clueless, wiping the crumbs off the counters on a Wednesday. Your co-worker, Ashley, who had a history of being an insensitive asshole towards you, especially during the past 18 months, about the topic of the missing soccer girls -- she didn't even try to say their names.
"You heard the news?" She uttered to you with her pretentious smirk as she leaned over the counter.
You looked at her, squinting your eyes, wondering if this old-ass restaurant was finally closing down, and you would be losing your job. Yay.
"What we all getting fired or something?" You said with a slight chuckle.
The joke didn't land.
"No.. the plane, that one with the um those soccer girls? They've found them."
You wondered if she was playing some sick joke on you, or maybe this was a dream.. God, you hope not.
Though she had that casual tone and pretentious smirk on her face, this didn't seem like some sick joke.
You stayed calm, which you didn't think would be how you would react.
You always imagined that when you found out that they had found the plane, you would burst into tears and scream.
It wasn't like you didn't care.
You were in shock because internally, you felt like you were about to faint.
Who knows how many minutes it was until you replied to your co-worker? Maybe a little too long, as you finally uttered with a shaky voice, which you attempted to hold back but failed.
"Did they... did they say all of them?"
"Huh?" Ashley replied, already stalled with something else.
"Did they say if all the girls are rescued?"
"Who knows? Just said that they found them."
Fuck.
For those little days, you had felt a buzz of hope within you. Only because on TV, you SAW your LOTTIE MATTHEWS along with the other girls being questioned and hovered over with all those flashing cameras as she was being guided to a plane.
Lottie Matthews was alive.
Your Lot.
The one you said for the last time before she went on that plane,
"Good luck, babe."
For those days that you waited for that plane to land and bring her here, you did a little self-reflecting --- physically and mentally.
Physically, you had terrible eye bags. I mean, you've had some before, but these were a bit darker and more noticeable. You hadn't gotten much sleep since she left.
Your hair grew out to be a bit messier and longer. You hadn't cut it since she left.
Your makeup products are collecting dust. You hadn't even glammed up or whatever the fuck since she left.
Your outfits were a bit crapper. You only go to work, school, and home. What's the point of dressing up if your girlfriend has been gone for the last 18 months?
Mentally, you were sucked into a dark wormhole since she left, sucking out all your energy.
You did try to hang out with your friends, but there would be moments when you would be sitting there while everyone else talked, and you just stared into the distance, empty.
Most people avoided or ignored you at school; you were like a zombie in the halls just waiting to be revived.
Your grades were worsening slightly; some were ending up in C's. I mean, you weren't the smartest, but not the dumbest. You just didn't care anymore.
You would hear some say that doing all this because your 'friend' got on a plane and never came back is unhealthy because we're only in high school.
Those who would say that were your parents, utterly clueless to the fact that your friend was the love of your life and the only person you truly cared about in this shitty town.
You thought about all of that as you stared at the ceiling, just waiting and reminiscing.
Reminiscing about the little moments between you and Lottie.
When she would just be here in bed with you and rub her fingers around your facial features, under your eye, tracing your nose, and beneath your lips, and around the swell of your cheek.. sometimes it would be sunset when she did that, the sun seeping into the shades as you felt her breathe against your skin.
When she would spoil you, not random expensive crap or anything, but she would bring you things you brought up once, like new CD covers, makeup, food cravings, hoodies/cardigans, but not because you complained you were cold, but because you shivered once or twice near her and she hated seeing you be uncomfortable even if it was for a moment.
You even loved a little ritual you guys had -- whether you made it to her soccer matches or not, you would drive her to Gino's to pick up burgers, sit in the car, and just be near each other as you downed those cheesy burgers, while the Pixies played. You guys did this in an empty parking lot, because, well, you guys did make out a 'little' too.
Oh, and little intimate moments of making out, she would be so gentle with you, holding your hair back a little to see more of your face and just pulling your hips closer as she dragged her lips against your jaw as she would whisper such things in your ear like, "God, you're perfect." or "I just want to stay here with you forever."
Oh Lot.
When that plane FINALLY came, it was difficult to reach Lottie Matthews,
Her parents kept her away from you, well, not specifically you, just away from the media, which meant away from the public altogether, and that meant away from you. Between the funerals held for the ones who didn't survive the plane crash, the statue of Jackie Taylor memorial, and the dozens of news covers around the town, it was pure chaos. It became increasingly difficult to see Lottie again.
...
Until it wasn't.. until you finally saw her after those long, dreadful 18 months.
...
Lottie stared at you.. not look.. she STARED.. with an intense look as her eyebrows knit together. She had that familiar look in her eyes..but there was just something..off..ʇuǝɹǝɟɟıp.. about your girlfriend.
You only thought that she was just experiencing trauma from the plane crash and being stuck in the woods for 18 months, which was normal!
If only you knew.

summary | Lottie and you are together..always and forever. But could a sharp-witted fellow hunter pierce through that paradise?
author's note | my first fic hehe! Let me know if you guys want a possible part two? I would love some requests too! Sorry if there are some mistakes or inaccuracies.

After the seance that gave her that forehead scar that you rub your thumb over sometimes when she's asleep..the grief that covered her when Laura Lee and that plane that everyone told her not to go on..and when Jackie Taylor.. froze in the fucking bitter cold and you..ate her to the bone like she wasn't your soccer captain that held you all together even if most didn't want to admit it. It was as if that were the final step to quiet chaos.
Before the crash, you and Lottie were good friends, always near each other at those stupid parties and that little eye contact during practice that made your heart skip a beat that you pushed down with all your mental grip.
When you finally got together sometime in that quiet chaos near the fireplace, she was always near you, and why not?
Lottie is the prophet.. a bridge between it and all of you.
How could you not want to be loved and under the protection of the prophet herself?

The dim sky reflected onto the frosted window, as Lottie tended to the herbal tea.. from whatever she'd been picking from the plants before the snow hit. You knew because you did attempt to keep her 'stock' full. When you went hunting, it was difficult, but you could still pick up little things here and there.
You wrapped yourself in the bundle of clothes; too many layers could slow you down, and too few could lead to frostbite. You tried not to think about it too much, just determined to find some animal. The meat was getting scarce, and you couldn't handle another disappointed reaction from the others. Especially from Lottie, you didn't say it out loud, but you just wanted her to look at you and praise you for bringing back meat as she did when the sun still glowed visibly.
She wouldn't just say "The wilderness is pleased." She would lean into you and whisper little sweetnothings of "What would I do without you, baby. You are as needed from me as the wilderness is. You do so well for me, and I desire you the most."
You walk past Natalie and Travis, and to Lottie, she always made you guys drink that herbal tea. A little ritual of Lottie's to bless you two before hunting, something that went along with her strange talk under her breath and morning prayer.
Only two, because, well, Natalie refuses to participate in this nonsense, and it was the end of that -- her words. (to be fair, that tea is mixed with blood)
Lottie looks up at you with her brown, soft eyes as she reaches out and brushes the fabric of your clothes and her hands along your face, beneath your eye. That familiar touch of hers -- slightly shaky with a soft pressure, almost as if she's afraid you'll vanish in her touch.
Don't get her wrong, she likes when you go hunting and bring back meat.. she admires how much you contribute.
Yet, she just truly has this deep feeling in her bones that just wants to keep you here next to her, that frosted window and the crackle of the lit fireplace.
You smile at her and lean into her touch as you whisper, "Smells nice, Lottie."
She stares at you with the same look as she pulls her hand away and hums at your words. Sometimes you two don't talk.
Just exist in eachother's presence.
You hear footsteps behind you as Travis and Natalie approach the two of you, while Lottie turns away from you and back to the tea. She pours the tea into the two cups, grabbing each one and placing it into the grip of the two of you.
You both take sips as she whispers a little under her breath, as she glances at Travis and then back at you, and comes closer. Wrapping her arms around you as she whispers, "The wilderness is with you, and so am I, always and forever."
She doesn't say it to anyone else, just you. It's that special thing between you two.. like when anyone mentions your name, accusations or not, she'll speak of you with that protective tone.. with something with you and the wilderness, or when she'll whisper under her breath when you're still slightly awake holding you tight.. if you listen closely, she's talking to it -- PRAYING that the wilderness will spare you and not take you away from her -- she started doing that a lot after Laura Lee.
You smiled and gently kissed her on the forehead -- your bottom lip brushed against her scar as she gripped your arms slightly. You leaned away and said, "I'll see you soon..baby."
________________________________________________________________
You left the cabin with Natalie and Travis. The trip was typical; this time, you all separated, hunting while looking for Javi. Innocent Javi, who disappeared into the night before snowfall, and hadn't come back since.
It always ended up the same; no Javi and no meat, you didn't say a thing to Travis, it was up to Natalie to say something. They were closer, not just romantically, but just gentle mutual understanding.
As you three walked back to the cabin, it was quiet, with the slow sound of the footsteps crunching into the snow.
Natalie walks a bit closer to you and whispers, "You two don't make sense."
You hum at her and narrow your eyes at her and whisper, "What?"
She whispers again, "I mean.. she's full of rituals and is into the wilderness.. or whatever."
"And you.."
"I do the same." You whisper back.
"Only because she does." Natalie hisses with a bitter tone.
You look at her; she's never commented on this before. Why now? "You don't have to understand it for it to make sense; it's my relationship."
She looks at you. "I'm just concerned."
You scoff, "Concerned for what? Why are you saying this anyway?"
"..forget it." She mutters as she stares straight ahead, sniffling her nose.
For the rest of that walk, it was a tense feeling between you two, sure Travis was there, but he seemed to be in his own head. This tense feeling that was familiar in that time you held your aim towards that rabbit as Natalie adjusted the weapon slightly, her body against yours as she whispered "you got this," and that other time when you and Lottie finally got together, and it was that same day you went hunting.. and Natalie didn't talk to you.. No eye contact. Just hummed and nodded when you tried to talk to her.
________________________________________________________________
You entered the cabin, the layer of warm air from the fire spreading over your rosy cheeks.
As you glanced around at everyone, no meat again, and you sighed as you rubbed the sweat from your forehead as you pulled the fabric off your lower face, avoiding the glares from the others, as you walked to Lottie as you kneeled and muttered, "No meat.. sorry."
Lottie lifts your chin with her thumb, which feels fairly warm against your cold skin. She whispers, "There will be many more opportunities... don't crumble from these simple mistakes."
"Come here, baby, come on." She whispers as she grabs your wrist and pulls you into her near that frost window.
You close your eyes, the gentle pulse of her warm neck against your cold nose as you feel that sense of drowsiness you always felt with her.
Only though from afar, a pair of soft blue eyes stared at you two with not a sense, but an intense feeling of jealousy. Why couldn't she be holding you like that? You spent more time with her than Lottie did with you when you guys went hunting; you probably had deeper conversations with her. What did you and Lottie talk about? The wilderness god? Natalie just knows that it could never compare to what you and she have.
She just should've confessed before Lottie did.
She could probably treat you better.
She probably still can.
Lottie only leaves the cabin for her day prayer? or whatever she calls it.
If she just got a little closer, you'd realize that she IS the one for you.
Only Natalie didn't notice that Lottie wasn't as dense when it came to how Natalie felt for you. She knew since before the crash, the way Natalie would sometimes just brush her fingers against your arm during small talk in the hallways or the closeness of you two during practice. Although she wasn't worried, NOT AT ALL, she knew you were hers, and she was yours. Natalie's little hunts with you meant nothing.
Lottie would never allow this.
She tugged you a bit closer into her as she gently pressed her chin over your head and let out a shaky breath.
Not worried.
NOT worried.
Not WORRIED.
NOT WORRIED.
Natalie Scatorccio is nothing to worry about.
For now.
