32 years old at 32 Days.
I know this took place a while ago, but if bringing up old things to make new headlines works for ESPeen, then maybe it’ll work for me. I got to do a banked slalom! Didn’t take first, didn’t take last. Had a quick butt check or I would have been a little better. It was a great time, it took too long for me to get another run in. But I got to shred with some good people and learned some more things about Brighton. I saw some pros, got some sweet stickers and a 3.20 breakfast burrito.
I now have a retirement goal of traveling to do all the banked slalom races in North America. I think that’s a good life goal.
VIBE I have learned that the vibe at Brighton is one of its best features. I had a pass at the Bird for the 7 years before this year, I can say I am not missing the Bird much. The 32 games is a snowboard thing but I saw Tanner Hall, so he came just for the good time. The crews of rippers at Brighton just look like they are having fun. And that’s what its all about. Rippin with people you like to rip with.
I didn’t crack 32 secs on my run (I did break 40 though 39.99) but I am gonna be calling Brighton my home mountain for the next several years.
Wintergatan - Marble Machine A lot of work to jam. But it makes the jam better
A 2016 Business
Trying to start a business in 2016. It’s so easy, but so hard at the same time. The internet makes everything so easy. Creating content or rounding up manufacturers is as easy as a couple clicks. Automated retweeting or manually sharing viral content can get some exposure and maybe even some “expert” points. Its never been easier or more complicated. Google, SEO, traffic, traction, humanitarian, instagram, twitter. Starting a business is now a way to earn a great education while making money. Instead of earning a decent education and gaining debt.
Starting a business is so easy that everyone is trying to do it. Ok not everyone but smart people are making passive income businesses or passion businesses. And students are starting to learn that a student campus is a great place to sell stuff to people.
I have been trying to do it for four years. It only took five to complete the written set of classes I had to take while in school. Running a business has no set of classes someone makes you take. You have to have the confidence and the work ethic to make it work. The unknown is what has kept me from putting 100% into a new business venture. To start a business you can’t be afraid of what you’ll lose. Just look forward to what you can gain. I am excited to put money and effort into making this website an entity that will hold a place in the online and physical gear space.
After going to SIA this year, I see the steps I need to take. There will be challenges learning all the social media and search engine tricks, getting other companies to play nice. Life is having challenges and overcoming them. A life without challenges is a life not being lived. So in essences getting this business up and running and documenting the process is a challenge to myself. Can I make the most of my time at home and at work to make a difference selling outdoor gear and hopefully something even larger.
Snowsay will bring the stories of companies that have already trudged this path of starting a company. We will talk about snow, entrepreneurship, everything mountain, and health and wellness. I’d probably be able to do a lot more work on this website if I didn’t have to sleep and eat. We’ll focus on companies that are focused on making each person perform at a high level for a long time through physical and mental preparedness.
As I hope this challenges teaches me many things I hope to share it with everyone else with the idea that one day it will be the catalyst for someone else to challenge themselves and make life a great adventure.
32 day is March 2nd at Brighton. Boarders only for burritos and banked slalom
March 2nd is 32 day at Brighton. Pros and breakfast burritos. Banked slalom is what I’ll be attempting to tear up. My Darker Series is salivating just thinking about it.
I Might even have to put the gopro on my helmet mount.
SIA 16
After years of wanting to go to SIA I finally made it there. I made it there with a buddy, family and snow. It was pretty much a vacation of entrepreneurs and snowboarders. All the companies were awesome to talk to. You can see the passion in their product and on their faces. Even the companies with silly products are confident that they solved the biggest problem that ever faced mountain recreation.
New tech, old tech, handmade, China made. Everything was at this place. We found some great people making great things. A lot of them are from the Rocky Mountains. We want to learn more about these companies and want others to learn about them.
Look for featured companies, their founders, and thier products in the future.
Fairweather SKi Works, Gilson Snowboards, Grassroots Powsurfing, Kitten Factory Skis, Caravan Ski Collective, DOWP Group, Sego Skis and even more.
7yW’s own Paul Bourdon is off into the world of real snowboard journalism and he is killing it. This is a must read.
Some argued that having the mainstream spotlight shine on the sport was good for it, and for a time snowboarding’s popularity exploded. As fate would have it, this growth was not...

The Resistance
Peter Line starts it off by throwing a bow at the rest of the forum team. I don’t think I really paid attention to this part very much. I didn’t do a good job of knowing what these dudes look like

Not bad, I think its better watching it now than I did before. I just never got the vibe from this guy, it wasn’t very memorable besides the snowskates. We definitely got our stoke for snowskates from this film.

All Snowboard Films Ranked
Not really all of them, just the ones I own. Riding, music, skits. I am going to write how I remember them, then I am going to live diary each one while watching them and eating cheetos. Some of these are the reasons I got stoked in the very first place. So I decided I am going to watch these all over again and live diary them. I put down what I remember without watching them, then watch them and take notes.
Here is my first movie ever. I think I was a sophmore in highschool. I think I lost the movie but its on youtube!
Technical Difficulties
My first ever snowboard movie. My first ever sticker pack, oh man were there a lot of stickers. And all the cool brands: Forum, foursquare, special blend. The foursquare sticker went right on the back of the old Accord. JP, Jeremy and Kevin Jones, Jason Brown, Peter Line, Lagwagon, swingin utters, Hieroglyphics. I am surprised this movie didn’t break me and my buddies watched it so often. Technical Difficulties introduced me everything that was late 90s snowboarding and I never looked back. Also I was already into punk rock, but Heiroglyphics and Del were just awesome.
:30 Rocking first song with Kevin Jones jibbing off the cornice and the double mickalchuck! Mickalchuk!

7:00 Mikey LeBlanc rockin to punk rock and killin everything.
7:45 Tweakit
7:54 barely made it. 8:03 one of the first rodeos
Wheel chair donuts Jeremy Jones. I don’t even remember that this was him. So crazy to think I live in Salt Lake and seeing these dudes in the streets. 9:15 longest 50/50 ever! One of the best snowboard tracks. I got a few Enkindels songs after this song, but they never got much more play in my rotation.
9:21 first guy I ever saw wear a helmet in a video.
And hold a boom box 10:01 Keir’s standard 3 pipe tricks for about 10 years

3034 i used to remember this as like all giant 180s. There are a bunch more tricks in his part. Some of the biggest of the movie. As it was the ending part.
3116 I got into the Bouncing Souls because of this song. Still listen to it to this day. 3235 “Punch you in the face”
What a great movie, still has the watchability. I am glad I dug this up. I’ll probably watch it a few more times this year since its on youtube and I learned how a chrome cast works.
I think this is going to be fun going back and seeing what got me and my buddies into this in the first place.

Passion Companies
The internet has done many things, some good, some awesome and some not awesome. But one of the best things is that it has done is allow people to create businesses that mirror their passions without taking all the time and money of the founder. I have found so many small companies that exist solely because of their passion. Its not to get rich, its to get closer to their passion or improve their passion.
It takes some digging but I have found many Utah, Montana, and Idaho companies. These guys and gals live in your backyard. You can probably go barbeque with them after a day of shreddin’.
This blog will be highlighting my favorites. Check out my “Likes” on Facebook and my lists on twitter if you want to follow some of these companies on your own.
New Theme
I never learned how to code.
I went here and I am updating the site again! Or maybe its the first time, doesn't matter.
The Adventure Gear Expo isn't the most creative name but it did the job promoting a bunch of Utah based companies. I found out about several clothing lines, Utah County tech stuff, and the good ol' shredding companies up and down the Wasatch.
Most of these guys and have M-F jobs and little people to take care of, but still find the time and energy to create something they are truly passionate about. These companies are right in your backyard and you can ride the chair next to them while they are demo'ing next years crop. Support these companies and people who are "pursuing their passion over being comfortable."- M&RL
Check out this link for a list of the guys and gals that were there. I made out with a whole bunch of gear on great deals. 158 @Niche Snowboards Knew was the biggest purchase and can't wait to ride it. I already busted out the Vidi action camera up at Alta on Friday, and once I figure out how to edit it, I'll slap it up here. We got the wife some health stuff from @Six Nutrition. And for the next pow day I gotta get out with Grassroots Powsurfing and surf the pow.
