a few quiet giggles escape yuna’s lips, a first to be honest. for it had been a long while that she’d genuinely laugh at anything. “your little family… sounds like a riot, it’s cute.” she stated, finally glancing at the male and suddenly realizing that he looked about as young or even younger than her. a quick clear of her throat, as dainty hands idly played with the page full of notes as the male continued to speak. “well it’s only natural ti rebel, whether you’ve been a good or bad parent. it’s like instinct, when you’re told not to do something; there’s just something inside that probably tells them to do it… some kids get a kick off reactions after all.” a small hand would come up to her mouth realizing she’d just rambled a whole lot, and a bit of it was prevalent to many people she knew back in the day. optics would gaze into their own before making way back to the papers sat in front her of; surely the male did not see the chicken scratch that she had to decipher. “i mean, if you’d like to switch places for a day i’m a hundred percent down but full disclosure: nursing is a lot like handling kids, except… you’re the kid and the classes are some really harsh parents.”
“they’re a pain in the ass but they’re all i got.” at that he shrugged, a small smile tugging at the edges of his lips trying to break his stoned face facade. “only natural to rebel? i mean they’ve got zero causes to rebel, and it’s stupid because i’m literally there 24/7 wether they need me or not. well, not when i’m at one of my like 3 jobs, but it is what is is. that something inside better shut the hell up before i end up smacking them upside the head for acting a fool. ugh, don’t even begin with that, a few of the kids love getting me riled up, but at least they help out around the house.” he sighed. “i’d rather not do any of that if i’m being honest, i like my life. sure i’m dirt broke and i’ve got more than i can handle but i wouldn’t trade a second of it. don’t think you could handle my rowdy crowd, they literally eat people up and have them running crying back to their homes.”
Cyrus listened to Julian speak and with each passing word he got more and more offended. Cyrus hated when people got him right. Like they could just read him like a book. He hated it. He built up walls and then they’d just come knock them down he didn’t care for it at all. “Completely full of fucking crap,” He lied quickly as if he wasn’t just pegged completely. “Oh I’m pretty?” He’d rather focus on that comment and avoid everything else. He didn’t like being called out but who did.
“Sure I am, and I’m sure that’s the reason why you look so butt hurt right now too.” Julian smirked, knowing a pretty boy rich playboy when he saw one. “you’re okay considering everything else, hair could use some help. but i’m sure you’ll have that covered soon enough.”
“See..no,”Cyrus knew at this point at least he didn’t want kids. He didn’t want to mess up another human. Cyrus rolled his eyes at the other’s comment before responding. “Shit, I can’t help who my parents are besides i have run from cops before just never stuck.”
“Sure, but some of us don’t have our parents money to get off so easy. People like me rot in jail or worse for much smaller things.” he shrugged. “Least you know who your parents are, and that they actually care enough to bail you out or whatever. Lemme guess you’re a party boy with a life full of drugs and sex, and momentary happiness but none if it fills that void inside you, so you keep consuming more and more but that hole just keeps getting bigger and bigger, and you can’t find a way out of it, it’s suffocating. Or I might be full of crap, who knows. Least you’re pretty.”
“Tell them to fuck off and let them do their own thing,” Cyrus shrugged before he talked again, “You didn’t like your teen years? Fuck they were the best. You could do whatever and didn’t matter cause you weren’t an adult. I stole a car once and nothing happened”
“Can’t really do that, I’m supposed to set an example for them or whatever.” he huffed, passing a hand over his features. “No, I had to run from the cops a lot because I was someone who lived almost below the poverty line, so I was an easy target. Besides, not like I don’t have a record already. Sounds like a rich kid.”
yuna couldn’t help but overhear the others words while reviewing some class notes that were definitely a good weeks old. considering being in the hospital for about two weeks, it was nice to be surrounded by more than just white walls and old people. a soft chuckle would escape the ravenette’s lush lips, as dark hues gazed at their features. “it’s something to do with them thinking they know everything, and also the need to rebellion… or so i’ve been told.” she spoke softly, delicate fingers turning the page over to even more chicken scratch. “but it’s definitely better dealing with all of that than reading any of this.”
“they think they can talk back at me, and I’m like I raised you twerp, I can unraise you.” Julian scoffed, as he rolled his eyes in frustration. “I wish I had some help understand what it is I need to do, this whole being a parent thing is incredibly exhausting. Rebel against whom, I haven’t done anything to deserve that if anything I’ve been pretty easy as a guardian.” he huffed. “Two teenagers, one pre-teen and two toddlers, I don’t think you’d like that very much.”
“Why is having to deal with teenagers such a fucking pain? I’ve read so many books but it’s still a nightmare. I hated my teen years and they weren’t that long ago.”
╰ ♡ ✧ ˖ shawn mendes. 22. he/him. have you seen julian nieves ? they used to be so +diligent before their heart got broken. now they just seem to be very -distant. i think it had something to do with the fact that he’s now the legal guardian of five kids, after their adoptive mother died and he took charge, and because of that he’s never had the time to form a real relationship, but who knows how accurate that is. i know, we should get them macaroon's to help cheer them up! maybe then they’ll start acting like late night chatter involving the future, hopeful starry nights

-So Julian is the child of a couple who bit off more than they could chew when they decided to move out of their parents house and live on their own. Although there was a lot of love, it wasn’t enough to keep a roof over their heads. Julian’s father turned to odd jobs trying to make ends meet to make sure his pregnant wife had everything.
-Once Julian was born the load just increased and his father began to sell drugs on the side to make more money, a dangerous game that would later cost him his life. His mother suffered from postpartum depression and she began to seek out the help of over the counter pills, slowly falling into a drug induced spiral.
-With his father out in the streets risking his life, and his mother well on her way to becoming a junkie, it was safe to say that this wasn’t the kind of environment a new born should be in. The moment Julian’s mother learned of the fate of her husband, she decided to give up her son to an orphanage run by nuns. It was her final act of kindness as a mother to her child.
-His short duration in the orphanage would be riddled with the eldest nuns telling the young child that whatever was happening to him was because he was the product of sinners. That their fates were decided because they didn’t love god as they should, so the lord turned their backs on him. The younger of the nuns were much kinder and would try to protect the children from the elder’s words.
-At the age of five he was adopted by a man who would make his life a living hell. The man only wanted the benefits of having a child under welfare would bring him, not once did he care for the child’s wellbeing but was a good enough actor to fool the nuns, with his seemingly squeaky clean background.
-For three years young Julian suffered abuse, both verbal and physical with visible scars on his back. The man would always make up excuses for Julian at school whenever the boy was too visibly beat up, he didn’t want social services to be knocking on his door. Julian lived his life in fear, he hated going back home from school and teacher’s were noticing all the signs and one began to take action, but she couldn’t do much without concrete proof.
-One faithful night, Julian would be beating to an inch of his life when he made a mistake. It was the night of the big game and the man had invited his friends over to his shitty trailer, they were all the same breed, the same kind of people who didn’t care. They were all drunk but Julian’s adoptive father had it the worse, and once the boy managed to spill a beer on one of his guests, he lost control and almost left the boy in a bloody pulp.
-The boy needed medical attention so one of the guys who wasn’t as drunk took him to the hospital because he didn’t really agree with what was happening to the child. Julian would heal, but his fear was rooted deep inside. It didn’t take long for social services to come around and take the boy away from the man, and he was put away for the endangerment of a child.
-Put back into the system, Julian still needed to go to school but spent most of his time alone, and his teacher’s wished he would open up more. His life was going to change for the better when an elderly woman hear about his case and decided to foster him. To his surprise the house was filled with kids, all younger than he was.
-This was the start of his life taking a turn for the better as he grew to love his family, and soon enough the elderly woman would reveal that she had adopted all of them and was their legal guardian. Julian being the eldest helped around the most with taking care of the kids. One night while he was out taking the kids to see a movie, there was a break in, and sadly the event cost the family their guardian.
-A twenty year old now had a decision to make, and it was to be the guardian to five children who would need them or deny that and have them all be separated and put into foster homes. Julian’s choice was clear as no one would break apart his family, and since then it’s been two years of non-stop work and dead end jobs all to provide to the little family he’s come to know.
-Because of this he’s never really had the time or energy to go out on dates or meet a guy. Julian wishes someone would take real interest in him but for now he’ll just opt for the casual moments where he finds himself in a man’s arms and enjoy the rest of the night.
